As we approach the end of our novena for life,
praying for the end of abortion and the evils of
Planned Parenthood, I provide to you an
encouraging letter. This comes from Cardinal
Sean P. O'Malley, who chairs the Committee on
Pro-Life Activities. This demonstrates our resolve
to stand up for basic human rights, and to do so
in a publicly active way.
Dear Senator:
I am writing to ask your support for S. 1881, to withhold
federal funds from the Planned Parenthood Federation of
America and its affiliates.
It has long been troubling to many Americans that the
nation’s largest abortion network, performing over a third
of all abortions, receives over half a billion taxpayer
dollars a year. This concern has rightly grown in recent
years.
The most recent revelations about Planned Parenthood’s
willingness to traffic in fetal tissue from abortions, and to
alter abortion methods not for any reason related to women’s health but to obtain more “intact” organs, is the latest
demonstration of a callousness toward women and their
unborn children that is shocking to many Americans.
The Catholic Church comes to this issue from a perspective rooted in experience. Catholic charitable agencies and
pregnancy help centers have helped countless pregnant
women find life-affirming alternatives to abortion. Our
hospitals and other health facilities are second to none in
providing quality healthcare for women.
We support the legislative proposal to reallocate federal
funding, so that women can obtain their health care from
providers that do not promote abortion. It is my sincere
hope that you will be able to help advance this goal by
supporting S. 1881. (www.usccb.org)
Dear Resurrection Catholic Community,
After much discernment and for personal reasons, Amy
Davila, Pastoral Associate of La Divina Providencia, has decided to resign from her position. This resignation is not immediate and a specific date will be announced at a later time while
we make arrangements for a smoother transition to a new pastoral associate. For now, we know that the specific date will be in
November.
In the mean time, let us continue to pray for Ms. Davila and
work with her in her remaining months as an official employee
of Resurrection Catholic Community. She has served with great
dedication and enthusiasm, applying her many gifts in service to
the whole community, especially LDP. Join me in thanking her
for all that she has done for us.
The search for a new Pastoral Associate has begun. Job
postings will published through various media, such as the
Catholic Herald, the Resurrection Newsletter, and Catholicjobsonline.com. All inquiries are to be sent to

Father, you have created us in body and soul
To honor you and our neighbor and
to receive honor and respect in return.
Our bodies are sacred. They reflect You, our
Creator. And we hold sacred the bodies of all

Lord, we are saddened that these children are being
killed, and saddened again that their body parts
are being harvested and sold.
Have mercy on our nation. Have mercy on those
who are perpetrating these evils. As more and more
people become aware of this, turn their hearts
towards You, the fountain of life and love.
Give consolation to all who have had abortions,
and give wisdom to our public officials that they
may respond adequately to the corruption found in
the abortion industry.
Grant that we, the People of Life and the People
of Mercy, may recommit ourselves to building a
nation without abortion and without the many evils
that flow from us.
May we choose life; may we choose mercy;
may we choose Your Kingdom!

vida consagrada, o informal, posiblemente temporal, como en la vida de soltero.
Cualquiera que sea nuestra posición en la vida, "el
amor es nuestra misión"!

All Love Bears Fruit
Our faith tradition identifies two basic modes of loving: matrimony and celibacy. Celibacy may be formal, as in the priesthood or consecrated life, or informal, possibly temporary, as in the single life. Whatever our station in life, “love is our mission”!
The fruitfulness of both modes of loving – marriage
and celibacy – can best be seen if we have an
“eschatological perspective.” That is, if we continually recall that our earthly life is not the final answer,
or even the most important reality of our life. If we
order our lives in the knowledge that our final destiny
is eternity in heaven – and that we can choose to lose
it through sin – then we have the right perspective to
understand how to love, according to our particular
state in life.
This perspective allows us to see more clearly the
spiritual fruitfulness of celibacy. A celibate person
has a unique freedom, the flexibility to go many places and to love the many. Those who are consecrated
also carry in themselves an important sign – a sign
which points to eternity as our ultimate reality.
Those who are married are called to a more particular way of loving, loving which can bear both physical fruit (children) and spiritual fruit. The
“eschatological perspective” reminds them that their
mission of love is ultimately to help all family members get to heaven. Living out this mission then becomes a sign to others, which can help them reach
the same goal.
Chastity is a critical success factor for marriage. Chastity is likewise critical for the celibate
life. Chastity in any form begets chastity in all
forms. Likewise, unchastity breeds unchastity. There is no shortcut, no substitute for chastity. We must all employ our sexual capacity rightly,
according to our state in life.
La fecundidad de ambos modos de amar - el matrimonio y el celibato - , se puede observar mejor
si poseemos una "perspectiva escatológica". Es decir si
continuamente recordamos que nuestra vida terrenal no es
la respuesta final, o incluso la realidad más importante de
nuestra vida. Si ordenamos nuestras vidas en el conocimiento de que nuestro destino final es la eternidad en el cielo - y
que podemos elegirlo a perderlo por el pecado - entonces
tenemos la perspectiva correcta de entender cómo amar, de
acuerdo a nuestro estado particular en la vida.
Esta perspectiva nos permite ver con mayor claridad la fecundidad espiritual del celibato. Una persona célibe tiene
una libertad única, la flexibilidad para ir a muchos lugares y
amar a muchos. Los que se consagraron también llevan en
sí mismos una señal importante - una señal que apunta a la
eternidad como nuestra última realidad.
Aquellos que están casados están llamados a una forma más
particular, de amar, amor que genera unos frutos físicos
(hijos) y unos frutos espirituales. La "perspectiva escatológica" les recuerda que su misión de amor es, en última instancia, ayudar a todos los miembros de la familia a llegar al
cielo. Vivir a cabo esta misión se convierte en una señal a
los demás, que pueden ayudarlos a alcanzar la misma meta.
La castidad es un factor crítico de éxito en el matrimonio.
La castidad es también crítica en la vida célibe. La castidad,
en cualquier forma, engendra la castidad en todas
sus facetas y formas. Del mismo modo, la falta de castidad
engendra la falta de castidad en todas sus formas y facetas. No hay atajos, no hay sustitutos para la castidad. Todos debemos emplear nuestra capacidad sexual con razón,
de acuerdo a nuestro estado en la vida.
