St. Francis of Assisi Parish Mission Statement
St. Francis of Assisi Parish is a community of disciples, united through our love of Jesus Christ and our shared Catholic Faith. We joyfully respond to our personal conversion and the call of the Holy Spirit by reflecting the love of the Father through evangelization and
service.

Next Thursday, January 1, is the Feast of Mary, the
Mother of God. It is also a holyday of obligation so that we
can come and thank God for blessing Mary as she carried
Jesus in her womb, as she gave birth to him, as she raised
him with tender love. Mass December 31, New Year’s Eve,
will be celebrated at 6:00 pm. On January 1, New Year’s
Day, Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 and 11:30 am in
English and 1:15 in Spanish. Of course, the Sacrament of
Reconciliation will not be celebrated Thursday night.
Fr. Zach should be arriving in the Holy Land tonight.
Accompanying him are a number of our parishioners and
others from other parishes as they do their pilgrimage
through the holy sites. Please continue to pray for them.
Fr. Zach returns January 7.
I will have my Christmas break this Monday through
Wednesday.
Our office will be closed Wednesday, New Year’s
Eve and Thursday, New Year’s Day.
Next weekend, January 3-4, we will be observing
the Feast of the Epiphany, the manifestation of the Baby
Jesus to the Magi. A number of years ago the USA bishops
decided to transfer Epiphany from the traditional date of
January 6 to the Sunday closest to the 6th.

2014, will be acknowledged as 2015 donations.
ELECTRONIC DONATIONS
During the holiday season, it is encouraging to see both new and
familiar faces at St. Francis. It is through the donations of every
individual and family in the congregation that we are able to
carry on our work now and throughout the year. If you would
like a convenient way to make recurring contributions or plan to
make an additional gift before the end of the year, we encourage you to check out our electronic giving options. To set this
up, visit us online at stfoafrisco.org and locate the ‘Donations’
button on the bottom left. Or if it’s easier, complete a paper
authorization form at the church office.
ALWAYS OUR CHILDREN
We are a ministry founded on principles outlined in the United
States Conference of Catholic Bishop’s pastoral letter titled
“Always Our Children”. We are charged with providing a safe,
nurturing, and confidential environment for parishioners,
drawing upon the “reservoirs of faith, hope, and love as they
face uncharted futures” and to understand clearly what the
teaching of the Church is regarding same gender attraction.
You may find the USCCB’s letter on their website at http://
tinyurl.com/6wmcdtx .
For more information on becoming involved in this ministry or
for any questions you may have, please contact Deacon Gregg
Kahrs at [email protected]

FACILITIES DIRECTOR POSITION AVAILABLE
Our current Facilities Director, Noel Johnston, who has faithfully
served St. Francis for 11 years, has decided to retire. May he enjoy
his years in retirement. God’s blessings upon Noel.
We are now in search of a Facilities Director who has experience
managing a multi-building campus and multiple custodial and
maintenance staff. Knowledge of HVAC, IT & phone systems is required. Must be able to identify and solve problem areas pertaining to maintenance, staffing, vendors and special projects. Necessary strengths are efficient scheduling, managing inventory, and
seeking competitive bids and contracts. Because of interaction with
parishioners and the general public, the Director must be courteous and approachable. Work hours are normal business hours with
the flexibility of being on call for emergencies and major events.
For full job description, see www.stfoafrisco.org/pdfs/
FacilitiesDirector.pdf. Qualified applicants should send resume to
[email protected].
PRO-LIFE
On December 30, a Mass for an End to Abortion will be celebrated
by Fr. Paul Weinberger at 10 a.m. at St. Monica, 9933 Midway
Rd, followed by a Closing Memorial Service outside the former
Robinson's abortion facility at 1929 Record Crossing, with the buses
then taking people over to "Robinson @ Northpark" at 8363 Meadow Rd to pray through a rosary procession for the conversion of
those seeking abortions or performing abortions.
We hope many are able to join us on this Tuesday during the holidays as we press on, with the help of God, until the ultimate victory
is achieved, and Dallas is abortion free!
December 28, 2014, Feast of the Holy Family
