F IRST SUNDAY OF A DVENT NOVEMBER 30, 2014 I DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO 30 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 20 14 NOVEMBER 30, 2014 FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT F ROM F R. C HRISTOPHER F ROM F R. C HRISTOPHER When I played football, I remember our coaches telling us over and over again: pay attention to detail! This meant that we had to pay attention to our stance, we had to make sure that we did not cause a penalty, or we even had to make sure we had our helmets buckled. What that taught me was that even the smallest details mattered. This demands from us attention. The Lord says, Keep Watch! We keep watch for even the smallest things. In those smallest things we find Christ our Lord. When we are at the grocery store we make sure to smile at the cashier and say, "hello." We try to remember to wish a co-worker a happy birthday. When we ask someone how they are doing, we wait for the answer. In these small ways, being watchful, Christ our Lord approaches us. When he does this, he is preparing us to pay attention to that detail that is not so small, when he comes again in Glory. Fr. This is a tree that Resurrection has been putting up in the foyer of the church for the last several years. It is to remember our loved ones who are no longer with us. We are doing this special tree because we miss them; we love them and would like to pray for them. We can make a homemade ornament or buy one at a store. We write their name(s) on the ornament and hang it on the tree in remembrance of them and prayers are said.
