The desert is great! John the Baptist cried out from
the desert and challenged people to change their hearts and
their lives to prepare the way for the Lord. In imitation of
John, we too left our homes, businesses, comforts and daily
routine to prepare the way of the Lord. For the last 10 days
our parishioners transformed the school gym into our own
“desert” where we prayed together as a family of faith so as to
be worthy when He comes to be our judge.
Advent is a great time for such a journey into the
desert. These days allowed us to be reminded of the Corporal
Works of Mercy from which our Lord will judge our lives. The
seven Works of Mercy are: feeding the hungry, giving
drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, offering
hospitality to the homeless, caring for the sick,
visiting the imprisoned and burying the dead. I
hope that after having reflected and meditated on the
works of mercy during the past week, we might be
able to share our lives more deeply with God and one
another with no reservation.
This third Sunday of Advent is called “Gaudete
Sunday”. The word simply means “rejoice”. We are
called to intensify our joy for the coming of God. As
we draw closer to Christmas, we are invited to rejoice
with a renewed sense of faith and hope. My own
sense of faith and hope was renewed through our
parish Advent Novena. I was inspired by the
participation of so many of our parishioners who
demonstrated love for God and our Blessed Mother.
May we use these last days “in the desert” to continue
to increase our joy and sense of readiness so as to
provide a worthy welcome when He comes.

El desierto es excelente! Juan el Bautista clamo desde el
desierto y desafio a la gente a cambiar sus corazones y sus
vidas para preparar el camino del Senor. A imitacion de
Juan, tambien nosotros dejamos nuestras casas, negocios,
comodidades y la rutina diaria para preparar el camino del
Senor. Por los ultimos 10 días nuestros feligreses transformaron el gimnasio de la escuela en su propio "desierto"
donde oramos juntos como una familia de fe para poder ser
dignos del Senor cuando venga a ser nuestro juez.
Adviento es un buen momento para tal viaje al desierto.
Estos días nos permitieron recordar las obras de misericordia corporales de la que nuestro Senor juzgara nuestras
vidas. Las siete obras de misericordia son: alimentar al
hambriento, dar de beber al sediento, vestir al desnudo, que
ofrece hospitalidad a las personas sin hogar, el cuidado de
los enfermos, visitar a los encarcelados y enterrar a los
muertos. Espero que despues de haber reflexionado y meditado en las obras de misericordia durante la ultima semana,
seamos capaces de compartir en profundidad nuestra vida
con Dios y con los demas sin reserva.
Este tercer domingo de Adviento se llama "Domingo Gaudete". La palabra simplemente significa "regocijarse". Estamos
llamados a intensificar nuestra alegría por la venida de
Dios. A medida que nos acercamos a la Navidad, se nos invita a alegrarnos con un renovado sentido de fe y esperanza.
Mi propio sentido de fe y esperanza se renueva a traves de
nuestro Novenario de Adviento. Me inspiro mucho la participacion de muchos de ustedes donde demostraron su amor
a Dios y a la Virgen. Podemos usar estos ultimos días "en el
desierto" para seguir aumentando nuestra alegría y el sentido de la disposicion a fin de proporcionar una digna bienvenida cuando El venga.

Colecta Anual de la Navidad para Caridades Católicas
Su donacion a la Colecta Anual de Navidad 2014 para Caridades Catolicas

y Navidad llega a un sinnumero de personas necesitadas en toda nuestra
Diocesis. Por favor ayudenos a traer esperanza a la vida a traves de
nuestra red de Caridades Catolicas de la Familia Catolica y Agencias de
Servicios para Ninos, Caridades Catolicas Servicios de Vivienda y Centros
de San Vicente a los que tienen a quien recurrir. Considere piadoso un
generoso regalo cuando la cesta se pasa el día de Nochebuena y el día de

Grupo de Jóvenes de High School

la 1pm. Despues limpiaran la Iglesia en
preparacion para la Navidad.
