FED BY THE LORD
Jesus’ words “This is my body” and “This cup is the
new covenant in my blood” were only part of his
table blessing. Jesus twice said: “Do this in
remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25).
This is the good news of today’s solemnity. Like the
five thousand hungry souls, we are fed by our Lord.
This is not food that satisfies for only a short time,
until the next meal. It is food that lasts and changes
us. It is food for sharing in much the same way as
Melchizedek did when he brought bread and wine to
the returning Abraham.
As children of God’s reign, we are blessed to be able
to receive and share God’s gift. And we do so in the
way most appropriate to our state in life—as parents,
children, husbands, wives, or religious.
Reflection
When Jesus says, “Give them some food yourselves,”
what is he telling me? Do I give of my plenty or only my
leftover fragments? Does my receiving communion urge
me to “distribute” myself to others?

Mass, 53 children of our parish will be receiving for the
first time the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ.
Pray for them and their families.

ALIMENTADOS POR EL SEÑOR
Las palabras de Jesús “Esto es mi cuerpo” y “Este
cáliz es la nueva alianza que se sella con mi sangre”
fueron sólo parte de su consagración. Jesús dijo
dos veces: “Hagan esto en memoria mía” (1
Corintios 11:24, 25).
Esta es la buena nueva de la solemnidad de hoy.
Como las cinco mil almas hambrientas, somos
alimentados por nuestro Señor. Este alimento no
satisface sólo por un corto período de tiempo, hasta
la próxima comida. Es un alimento que dura y nos
cambia. Es un alimento para compartir de la misma
forma que lo hizo Melquisedec cuando presentó pan
y vino a Abram a su regreso.
Como hijos del reino de Dios, tenemos la dicha de
poder recibir y compartir el regalo de Dios. Y lo
hacemos de la manera más apropiada a nuestra
circunstancia en la vida –como padres, hijos,
esposos, esposas o religiosos.
Reflexión
Cuando Jesús dice, “Denle ustedes a ellos algo de
comer”, ¿Qué me está diciendo a mí? ¿Doy de los que
tengo o solamente de mis sobras? ¿Mí recepción de la
comunión, me urge a “distribuirme” a otros?
VELA DEL SANTISIMO
La Vela del Santísimo arderá esta semana en
acción de gracias a la Virgen María por
favores recibidos, a pedido de Ana Pagan.
