Baptism: Fir st Saturday of the month at 1:00 PM. Parents
must come to the Rectory with the with child’s original birth
certificate at least one or two months in advance. Instruction is
held on the Monday before the Baptism at 7:00 PM. For more
information please contact the Rectory.

May she rest in peace
“Do not let your hearts be troubled,” says
the Lord. Our hearts yearn for peace; what is
peace? We realize every day how fleeting peace
is, and how we are troubled by many worries,
anxieties and problems: our future, our children,
our loved ones, our jobs etc. What is then the
peace the Lord promises? Evidently it is not a
kind of peace that has to be necessarily associated with rest, with “nobody bothers me” kind of
philosophy. The type of peace the Lord wants to
give us is for those who are willing to do his will.
In doing God’s will, we are made one with God,
and we receive peace from Him in every situation, especially in our sufferings. The problem is
that we do not believe it. Therefore, we run away
from our cross precisely because we do not want
to suffer, thinking that God is not with us when
we suffer. On the contrary, it is in our sufferings
– in our cross - that Christ destroys death! At the
Lord`s Resurrection, when He appeared to the
disciples, the doors were locked where they were
gathered. In that moment, He showed them his
pierced hands and his pierced side saying the
same words we hear at Mass from the priest,
“peace I leave you my peace I give you.” This is
a peace that comes from the divinity of Christ
and it is accessible to us only through the grace
of the Cross of our Lord working in us. Jesus, in
showing his wounds after the Resurrection, tells
us that we should not be afraid of our cross; there
is where He gives a peace that nobody can steal
from us, “not as the world gives do I give it
[peace] to you.” If we trust God’s will, we will
always be at peace, no matter how difficult our
life may be: this is both fruit and pledge of the
Resurrection.

Sexto Domingo de Pascua
“Que no tiemble vuestro corazón ni se acobarde,” dice el Señor. Nuestros corazones tienen
sed de paz; ¿pero de qué paz estamos hablando?
Nos damos cuenta como cada día la paz es algo que
muchas veces no logramos – algo que de repente
perdemos. Estamos llenos de preocupaciones:
nuestro futuro, nuestros niños, nuestros queridos
familiares, nuestro trabajo etc. ¿Qué es entonces la
paz que el Señor nos promete? Es claro que no se
trata de una paz identificable con el descanso o con
el estar bien, digamos así, “sin que nadie me moleste.” El tipo de paz que el Señor desea darnos es por
los que quieren hacer su santa voluntad. Precisamente haciendo la voluntad de Dios uno se hace
una sola cosa con Él, y recibimos paz de Él en
cualquiera momento, especialmente en los sufrimientos. El problema es que no lo creemos. Entonces lo que hacemos es escapar de nuestra cruz porque no queremos sufrir, pensando que Dios no está
con nosotros en los sufrimientos. La verdad es diferente: ¡en nuestro sufrimiento – en nuestra cruz – es
cuando Cristo destruye la muerte! Después de la
Resurrección, cuando Él apareció a sus discípulos,
las puertas estaban serradas allá donde se reunían.
En aquel momento es cuando Cristo muestra sus
manos y su costado, proclamando la palabra que
escuchamos en la Misa pronunciada por el cura, “la
Paz os dejo, mi Paz os doy.” Esta es la Paz que viene de la divinidad de Jesús, y es accesible solamente por medio de la gracia de su Cruz en nosotros.
Jesús, en mostrar las llagas a sus discípulos, nos
dice de no ser temerosos de nuestra cruz; allá es
donde nos dará su paz, una paz que nadie nos quitara’; “no os la doy como la da el mundo,” dice el
Señor. Si tenemos confianza en el amor de Dios,
vamos a estar siempre en la paz, independientemente de las dificultades que tenemos: esto es el
fruto y la promesa de la Resurrección.
