Trinity Sunday (Cycle B)
Pastor’s Corner
On a mountaintop in Galilee the eleven faithful disciples met, at Jesus’ indication,
for the farewell. There, Jesus speaks to them about His divine power: “All
power has been given to me on earth.” And next He orders them to go out to
the whole world, making disciples of all peoples and baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. These words of the Savior
contain the revelation of a great mystery, the mystery of the Blessed Trinity.
The mystery of one God in three distinct Persons is the deepest mystery of our
faith, a mystery accepted by the disciples through the Lord’s revelation and that
they transmitted to us from the beginning, baptizing in that same faith all new
Christians there have been in the world.
The apostles had already received a partial revelation of this mystery. Christ had
told them: “The one who sees Me, sees the Father; the Father and I are one. I
will send the Holy Spirit from the Father.” Father, Son and Holy Spirit: distinct
Persons but only One true God, with only one nature.
Domingo de la Sma. Trinidad (Ciclo B)
naturaleza.

REPORT FROM OUR MINISTRIES
St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Hugh Conference has been particularly busy through the first 5 months of fiscal
2015, handling over 50% more cases than the year before. Many of them need assistance
with rent, power and water bills, but the increase comes from many other causes like homelessness, legal, financial and immigration advise, food needs, etc.
We would also like to be able to help two of our cases in finding employment, one of them
worked for an Aviation Logistic Support Contractor and was laid off after the company’s
contract with the Depart of Defense was not renewed. The person has experience in office
management and as an executive assistant and is fluent in both Spanish and English.
Our financial situation has improved considerably, and we recently received a check for
$2,620 from our “online” contributors. This is amount is for donations received through
April 2015.

June 1, St. Justin Martyr, an early Christian apologist, is regarded
as the foremost interpreter of the theory of the Logos in the 2nd
century. The First Apology, his most well known text, passionately
defends the morality of the Christian life, and provides various
ethical and philosophical arguments to convince the Roman
emperor, Antoninus, to abandon the persecution of the Christians.
He was martyred, alongside some of his students, in 165 AD.

persecución de los cristianos. Sufrió el martirio con varios de sus
estudiantes en el año 165 AD.
June 5, St. Boniface, known as the apostle of
the Germans, was an English Benedictine monk
who devoted his life to the conversion of the

The POPE SPEAKS/HABLA EL PAPA
Misericordiae Vultus, Bull Proclaiming the
Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy
With our eyes fixed on Jesus and his merciful gaze, we experience the love of the
Most Holy Trinity. The mission Jesus received from the Father was that of revealing
the mystery of divine love in its fullness. “God is love” (1 Jn 4:8,16), John affirms for
the first and only time in all of Holy Scripture. This love has now been made visible
and tangible in Jesus’ entire life. His person is nothing but love, a love given
gratuitously. The relationships he forms with the people who approach him manifest
something entirely unique and unrepeatable. The signs he works, especially in favor
of sinners, the poor, the marginalized, the sick, and the suffering, are all meant to
teach mercy. Everything in him speaks of mercy. Nothing in him is devoid of
compassion.
Nada
en Él es falto de compasión.

St. Hugh School wrapped up a successful sports season with the 2014-2015 Sports Awards Night
on May 21st. It was a fantastic event with over 250 guests there to support and enjoy the
evening. The driving force behind the evening was to recognize the outstanding levels of effort,
commitment, leadership and performance by our athletes throughout the year.
Athletic director, Coach Pina, served as the master of ceremonies and did a fine job of keeping
the program flowing while honoring this year’s award recipients. The presentation of the awards
were given by the coaches of each individual team sport. Awards for students included Most
Defensive Player, Coaches Award, Most Improved and Most Valuable Player.
We congratulate the athletes for all their efforts and look forward to another great season next
year.
Eighth graders, Lucas Medina and Sabrina Garcia were
named the 2015 Athletes of the Year. These
students were selected by their coaches as being an
integral and important part of each of the various team
sports they participated in. They have demonstrated
respect for their teammates, coaches and the opposing
team. They are athletes that always give their best, take
responsibility for their performance and praise their
teammates for a win.
We are very proud of them!
