Estimada facultad,
Nos place informales que este próximo año se celebrará el primer evento TEDx en
representación de nuestra Universidad. El evento se llevará a cabo en el Teatro de la
Universidad de Puerto Rico en el Recinto de Río Piedras, el 19 de marzo de 2016 y lleva
el nombre de TEDxUPR: Big Ideas, Small Places.
Este evento está asociado a TED, una organización sin fines de lucro que desde 1984
se ha dedicado a las ideas dignas de difundir y cuyas conferencias cubren una gran
gama de temas y disciplinas que exhiben la innovación, soluciones a problemas actuales
e historias inspiradoras que nos llegan a todos. A través de esta plataforma 20
conferenciantes – de todo trasfondo – podrán compartir sus ideas e historias al dirigirse
a un público de más de 1,600 personas, en adición a una mayor audiencia a través de
una transmisión en vivo. Las charlas también serán grabadas y publicadas en la internet
para alcanzar una audiencia aún mayor en Puerto Rico y alrededor del mundo. La meta
es demostrar cómo las ideas afectan directamente nuestras vidas y por qué importan
tanto a nivel local como global.
Actualmente, el equipo coordinador del evento está buscando personas con grandes
ideas y quienes estén entusiasmados con compartirlas. Por tal razón, les invitamos a
todos a solicitar para participar en el evento. Si está guardando una idea, compártala;
creemos fielmente que las grandes ideas deben compartirse y que las grandes mentes
no deben permanecer en silencio.

We are pleased to announce that next year our University will be hosting its first ever
TEDx event. The event will be held March 19th 2016 at the University´s Theater at the Rio
Piedras campus, under the name TEDxUPR: Big Ideas, Small Places.
This event is associated with TED, a nonprofit organization that since 1984 has been
dedicated to ideas worth spreading, and whose conferences cover a broad range of topics
and disciplines that showcase innovation, solutions to current issues, and inspiring stories
that speak to us all. Through this platform twenty speakers – from all backgrounds – will
be able to share their stories and ideas by engaging an audience of more than 1,600 live
spectators, in addition to a bigger audience through the use of simultaneous
broadcasting. The talks will also be recorded and published online in order to reach an
even bigger audience worldwide. The aim is to show how ideas directly impact people´s
lives and why they matter both at the local and global levels.
Currently, the team handling the event is searching for individuals with great ideas and
who are enthusiastic about sharing them. For that reason we encourage everyone to
apply to become a speaker. If you’re saving an idea, speak out and be counted; we firmly
believe that great ideas are worth sharing and that great minds should not stay silent.
