Dear parents and students of the New School:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2016-17 school year! As our inaugural year begins, I sense
that this year will be a special year of friendships, collaboration, discovery, and growth. Our entire school
staff is super excited at this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work together, and develop a dynamic school
community. In fact, in only a few weeks, our teachers, parents, and students have already begun to lay the
foundation, through various PTO, curriculum meetings, and play-dates. Imagine what an entire school year
has in store for us!
As you may know, the IB program aims to develop internationally minded students who strive to be:

Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open Minded, Caring, Risk Takers, Balanced,
and Reflective. These attributes represent
the Learner Profile, which are the essential characteristics in
developing responsible citizens. Ultimately, we hope to develop these traits in our students, and in our
community throughout the school year.
As I reflect upon my 9th year as an administrator in Stamford Public Schools, I wholeheartedly believe that
education should inspire us to make something better of our world. In keeping with the IB philosophy, we
will do this by fostering healthy relationships and providing opportunities for shared and individual
responsibility. We will empower students to develop confidence, perseverance, and make informed
decisions and sound judgements. We will encourage the spirit of inquiry, and help students ask questions,
and pursue aspirations, through challenging goals. Through these efforts we hope that our students will
begin to develop rich personal and cultural identities.
As I begin my tenure at our IB school, I have never felt so strongly about these overarching principles. Even
if the IB program is new to you, it is encouraging to see that these principles are very familiar in our society.
It is my hope and dream that you will encourage and foster these principles at home and assist us in
developing a dynamic, strong, and supportive community. I can’t wait to begin this journey together!

Queridos Padres y estudiantes de la New School:
Es con gran placer darles la bienvenida al año escolar 2016-17! Siendo nuestro año inaugural, tengo la
sensación que será un año especial de amistad, colaboración, descubrimiento y crecimiento. Todos de la
escuela están super emocionados con esta oportunidad ‘única’, para compartir en una comunidad
dinámica. De hecho, en sólo unas pocas semanas, los maestros, padres y estudiantes han comenzado a
collaborar juntos a través del PTO y otras reuniones. Imaginase lo que vamos hacer en un año escolar!
Como usted sabe , el programa IB tiene el objetivo que los estudiantes crezcan con una mentalidad
internacional, y que se esfuerzan por ser: investigadores, bien informado, pensadores, comunicadores, con
principios, mente abierta, cariñosos, tomadores de riesgo , equilibrados y reflexivos . Estos atributos
representan el Learner Profile, que son las características esenciales en el desarrollo de ciudadanos
responsables. Esperamos desarrollar estos atributos en nuestros estudiantes, y en nuestra comunidad
durante todo el año escolar.
Al reflexionar sobre mi noveno año como administrador en Stamford, yo creo que nuestra educación debería
inspirarnos hacer algo mejor de nuestro mundo. De acuerdo con la filosofía del IB, enseñaremos la
importancia de colaboración y responsabilidad. Ayudaremos a los estudiantes con su confianza,
perseverancia, y sus decisiones. Alentaremos el espíritu de investigación, y ayudaremos a los estudiantes
hacer preguntas, a través de sus metas. A través de estos esfuerzos, esperamos que nuestros estudiantes
empiecen a construir sus identidades culturales .
Nunca me he sentido tan convencido de estos principios de educación. Incluso si el programa IB es nuevo
para usted, estoy convencido que estos principios son parte de nuestra sociedad. Es mi esperanza que
usted fomente estos principios en su hogar y nos ayuden en formar una comunidad dinámica, y fuerte.
Estoy entusiasmado de comenzar este ‘camino’ juntos!
