Message to the Eagles
Hello Families,
Wow, how time flies! Wasn’t it winter season not too long ago? Good bye cold
weather and hello spring time! TCAP season came to a close, and I know we all did
a great job! I would like to give a big shout out to all the staff members who helped
out with every little detail to make sure that all of our students were taken care of
and completed their testing. Truly a team effort. Good Work TEAM!!
We will be hosting Summer School here at RME for incoming 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.
Our staff will be collaborating to select our roster. We plan to have all of our
invitations sent out the week of parent/teacher conferences. More details to
come.
I don’t know exactly how many days of school we have left, but as a learning
community lets FINISH STRONG!

How To Survive The Rest Of The School Year
The end of the school year is tough for everyone. We have worked very hard the
past ten months and we can see the finish line. Especially with the weather
warming up and the days getting longer, the kids are getting restless. Even though
the year is coming to a close, it is still important for students to remain engaged in
school and continue to be learners. We want all students to end their school year
on a positive note so they begin next school year feeling happy and successful.
Our mantra at Rocky is “Habits, Attitudes, Learning for Life”, so it is our job to help
students develop the habits and attitudes that will allow them to reach their goals.
Here are a couple tips that parents can do to help their children get through the
next few weeks. 1) Stick to a routine: It is easy to get into summer mode with the
weather warming up, but make sure that you are sticking to the same daily
schedule that you have had all year. It is especially important to make sure kids
are getting enough sleep. 2) Let your kids get outside more often: Studies have
shown that more time outside helps improve concentration. You can even have
your kids do their homework/studying outside. 3) Plan ahead: Now is a good time
to start thinking about what your child can do during the summer to prepare for
next year. During conferences you could ask their teacher for suggestions on
summer activities that could help improve their skills or areas that may need
improvement. 4) Acknowledge progress: Take time to celebrate with your child
how far they have come since the beginning of the year. Each and every student
grows academically and socially throughout the school year so it is important to let
your child know how proud you are of everything they have accomplished over the
past ten months. Even though the last few weeks of school can be hard, I am
confident that we can end this school year on a high note. Thank you parents for
all that you do for your children!
PTO and Walkathon
Pizza & Bingo night was a fun filled family night! Thank you to all the families that
came out for this event!!
PTO would like to remind you that you still have time to order a Yearbook for your
student for just $18.
Upcoming PTO events include the Walk-a-Thon on April 25th and the Buy One Get
One Book Fair May 5th-7th from 4-8pm in the Library, during parent/teacher
conferences.

and suggestions, so please join us at

Details
Why: To help raise funds for field trips, playground equipment, tetherballs,
basketballs, wall balls, four square balls, footballs, volleyballs, etc…
When: The Walk-A-Thon will take place on Friday, April 26, 2013.
4th grade will walk @ 8:45-9:25,
K 1:00-1:25,
rd
3 12:05-12:40,
5th 10:45-11:20,
1st 2:00-2:35,
2nd 2:55-3:25.
We will have ten minutes at the end of the walk for drinks and orange slices.
Who: Intermediate will walk 4-6 laps. Primary will walk 3-5 laps or the allotted
time.
How: Ask your parents, neighbors, relatives, and friends to please sponsor you in a
Walk-A-Thon. Walkers must collect money before the Walk-A-Thon.
The Walk-a-Thon is a good way to show what a great community we have here at
Rocky Mountain Elementary! It gives students the opportunity to show school
pride, support the Parent Teacher Organization and raise money that benefits our
students and school!
Students need to bring their own water bottles, sunscreen (hat) and proper foot
wear.
Prizes for the Walk a Thon for those students who bring in the most donations
include:
-Top 2 collecting students will receive a scooter.
-Top collecting classes in both primary and intermediate will receive a Pizza Party!!
-Students who collect $10 will receive a water bottle.
-Students who collect $20 will receive a water bottle and a T-shirt.

Hola Familias,
Wow, como vuela el tiempo! Que no hace mucho tiempo que fue la temporada de
invierno? Adiós clima frio y hola a la primavera! La temporada de TCAP llega a su
fin y yo sé que todos hicimos un gran trabajo! Me gustaría dar un gran agradecimiento a todos los miembros del personal que ayudaron con cada pequeño detalle
para asegurar que todos nuestros estudiantes estuvieran listos y completaran sus
exámenes. Verdaderamente fue un esfuerzo de quipo! Buen Trabajo Equipo!
Vamos a organizar escuela de verano aquí en RME para los estudiantes que comenzaran el grado 3, 4 y 5 en el otoño. Nuestros maestros colaboraran para seleccionar nuestro roster para el verano. El plan es de invitar a los estudiantes la semana de conferencias de padres/maestros. Más detalles por venir.
No sé exactamente cuántos días de escuela nos quedan, pero comunidad que sigue aprendiendo, TERMINEN con mucha energía y FUERZA!

Como Sobrevivir el Resto del Año Escolar
El fin del año es difícil para todos. Hemos trabajado muy fuerte los últimos diez
meses y podemos ver la línea de la meta. Con el tiempo que sigue calentándose y
los días más largos, los niños están inquietos. A pesar de que el año está llegando a
su fin, todavía es importante que los estudiantes se mantengan enfocados en la
escuela y continúen aprendiendo. Queremos que todos los estudiantes terminen
su año escolar en nota positiva, así que comienzan su próximo año escolar feliz y
exitoso. Nuestra mantra es “Hábitos, Actitudes, Aprender toda la Vida”, es nuestro
trabajo ayudar a los estudiantes desarrollar los hábitos y actitudes que les
permiten alcanzar sus objetivos. Aquí hay un par de consejos que los padres
pueden hacer para ayudar a sus hijos a superar las próximas semanas. 1) Siga su
rutina: es fácil entrar en modo de verano con el tiempo calentándose, pero
asegure que usted siga su la misma rutina diaria que usted ha tenido durante todo
el año. Es especialmente importante que los niños estén durmiendo lo suficiente.
2) Deje que sus hijos jueguen afuera: Estudios han demostrado que más tiempo
afuera ayuda a mejorar la concentración. Usted puede dejar a sus hijos que hagan
su tarea afuera en el patio. 3) Planee con anticipación: Ahora es un buen momento
para a pensar en lo que su hijo/a puede hacer durante el verano para prepararse
para el próximo ano. Durante las conferencias le puede preguntar a su maestro/a
por sugerencias sobre las actividades de verano que podrían ayudar a mejorar sus
habilidades o áreas que necesiten mejorar. 4) Reconocer el progreso: Tome tiempo
para celebrar con su hijo lo mucho que han aprendido desde el comienzo del año.
Cada uno de los estudiantes crece académicamente y socialmente durante el año,
por eso es importante que su hijo sepa lo orgulloso que ustedes están por todo lo
que han logrado en los últimos diez meses. A pesar de que las últimas semanas de
escuela pueden ser un poco difíciles, estoy segura que podemos terminar el año
escolar en buena nota. Gracias a todos los padres por todo lo que hacen por sus
hijos!

La noche de Pizza Y Bingo fue muy divertida! Gracias a todas las familias que nos
acompañaron! PTO quiere recordarles que usted todavía tiene tiempo para ordenar un libro anuario para su hijo por solo $18. Próximos eventos patrocinados por
PTO incluyen la Caminata el 25 de Abril y la Feria de Libros el 5-7 de Mayo de 48pm en la biblioteca, durante las conferencias.

Por qué: Para ayudar recaudar fondos para los paseos, balones deportivos, etc.…
Cuando: La caminata será el viernes 25 de abril 2014.

Por favor tengan a sus clases afuera cinco minutos antes de que comiencen a caminar para poder estirar y estar listos. Tendremos 10 minutos al terminar para bebidas y naranjas.
Quien: Estudiantes de grados 3, 4 y 5 caminaran 4-6 vueltas. Grados de K, 1 y 2
caminaran 3-5 vueltas o el tiempo asignado
Como: Pregunten a sus padres, vecinos, parientes y amigos que los patrocinen en
la caminata. Los que caminen deben recoger el dinero antes de la caminata.
Esta es una buena manera de mostrar la gran comunidad que tenemos aquí en
nuestra primaria. Esta es una oportunidad de mostrar su orgullo a y su apoyo a
nuestra Organización de Padres y Maestros (PTO). El dinero beneficiara a todos los
estudiantes de nuestra escuela.
Los estudiantes deben de traer so propia botella de agua, protector de sol,
(cachucha) y tenis.
Premios para los estudiantes que recauden la mayor cantidad de donaciones incluyen:
-Los 2 estudiantes con mayor cantidad recibirán un scooter.
-La clase que colecte la mayor cantidad de grado intermedios y primarios recibirá
un Pizza Partí!
-Estudiantes que colecten $10 recibirán una botella de agua.
-Estudiantes que colecten $20 recibirán una botella y una camiseta.
El grupo de PTO siempre está buscando sugerencias y nuevas ideas, lo invitamos a
la próxima junta el 13 de mayo a las 4pm en la biblioteca. Por favor note el cambio
de tiempo para esta última junta del año escolar. Esperamos verlo!
