God said, “Come no
nearer! Remove the
sandals from your
feet, for the place
where you stand is holy ground. I am the
God of your fathers,”
“the God of Abraham,
the God of Isaac, the
God of Jacob.”
My Dear People,
Estimados Feligreses;
On Ash Wednesday I remember mentioning that the
most effective penance is one we do not choose but comes
from the circumstances of our lives. The very next day I
was offered an opportunity to know this personally when I
awoke at 3:30 am with intense pain in my left side. Later I
would learn that it was caused by a kidney stone and would
pass “probably in a day or so”. Two weeks later, it is still
with me and while pain medication helps, pain itself, I am
learning, is a very effective teacher. Allowing other people
to do things for me goes against my nature, but in these
days, I am recognizing the need to do that, for example.
I share this not to make an issue of my personal health,
but to invite you to consider what the pain of your own life
might be attempting to teach you. While medication for
pain and other ailments has its place, we do well to consider
what message there may be in the mess, what wisdom may
be learned from pain, and what new freedom may be opening up for us through the frustration of our will.
Fr. John
SINCE 1743… CELEBRATION COMMITTEE
PRESENTS
THE 2ND ANNUAL AFRICAN CULTURAL
HERITAGE CATHOLIC LITURGY
All those interested in helping with the Sunday, April
28th “Since 1743” Heritage Celebration Mass, commemorating 275 years of Catholic ministry in the
African American Community, please contact Fr. Emmons. A committee is being formed right now. (215535-2962)

Please come and join our great “Door Monitor Team”.
Some Volunteers have served for many years to help keep our children safe at S.M.T. School,
but a few had to “retire” because of poor health or family commitments.
We really need your help!!
If you can spare 1 1/2 hour, one day a week, to volunteer as a Door Monitor at S.M.T. School,
call the main office: 215-535-2962 (ext. 420) and leave your name and phone number for
Sister Pat.
She will return your call to explain how easy the program is and to set up a
mutually convenient time for you.
NB: Anyone who works in school must have a “PA Criminal Release” form & a “Child
Abuse Clearance” form which take a few weeks to come from the State so please respond as
quickly as possible. The Rectory takes care of the fee and the paper work. Thank You and
God bless you!
