FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis de Sales Parish,
The summer season is here in full swing, and, believe it or
not, Independence Day is this Monday! Traditionally, the 4th of
July is a time for picnics, celebrations and fireworks. As we
partake in these activities, let’s remember to take some time to
reflect on the values our nation holds dear: freedom, equality
and justice. Let’s remember to pray for the grace we need to
promote those values. The following is a prayer from the
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops:
“Gracious and loving God, let your Spirit be with us
today. Hear our prayers, and increase in us the will to follow
your Son Jesus. Help us to draw on the resources of our faith as
we use the opportunities of our democracy to shape a society
more respectful of the life, dignity, and rights of the human
person, especially the poor and vulnerable. We ask this through
Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.”
As we celebrate our independence, let us thank God for
the many gifts he has bestowed upon our nation. May we use
our gifts wisely to care for those in need, to promote justice for
all, and to bring about peace in this world. Have a Happy 4th
of July!
God’s Blessings,
Fr. Jim Schuerman
Happy 4th of July!
Que Dios los bendiga,
Padre Jim Schuerman

SUMMER MISSION GIVEN BY FR. BEN
CAMERON
St. Benedict Parish invites you to attend our mission
given by Father Ben Cameron from the Congregation of
the Fathers of Mercy. Father Ben will speak about the
Infinite Mercy of God, encouraging all of us to make a
stronger, deeper personal commitment to Jesus Christ and
His Church, and how we can live the Divine Mercy
devotion more deeply through understanding its roots in
the Gospels.
The four day mission begins on
Sunday evening, July 10 and runs through Wednesday,
July 13. Sunday evening begins with confessions at 6:00
p.m. followed by Mission Holy Hour with Conference
at 7:00 p.m. Confessions will follow the Mission Service.
Monday and Tuesday evenings will have the same format
as Sunday. The Wednesday evening Solemn Close of the
Mission begins with confessions with Mass following.
Each evening’s service will last about one hour.
The subjects for the mission conference are: Ask for
Mercy: The Prodigal Son (Sunday) Be Merciful: The
Good Samaritan (Monday), Confidence in Mercy: The
Sinful Woman (Tuesday).
Please join us and renew your commitment to live
the Divine Mercy in your daily life. St. Benedict Church,
