Blessing of the
Christmas Creche
Assembly 2266
Merry Christmas
The members and officers of the Knights of Columbus Council 6065 and
Assembly 2266 wish all parishioners and families a very Merry Christmas. May the birth of the Christ child bring love, joy and happiness into
your homes.
Bless your manger on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day with this special prayer. Opening Prayer All make the sign of the cross. Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who made heaven and earth. Leader: We are at the beginning of the days of Christmas. All through the season we will look on these images of sheep and cattle, of shepherds, of Mary and Joseph and Jesus. Lord Jesus, we gather here today to bless this creche which reminds us of how you came to us as an innocent child. Unless we become like little children we cannot enter the kingdom of God. Awaken within us today the child in our hearts so that we may more fully enter into the Christmas Season. Information Night

Scripture Reading Listen to the words of the Gospel according to Luke: In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1‐7) This is the Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Computer Refurbishing
Used CPUs (especially Pentium 4 or equivalent and newer), monitors,
printers, scanners, fax machines, pointing devices (mice) as well as CDs
and DVDs are being accepted for donation to the Computers for the
Blind organization. Please call Gil Brand at 214-282-2581 for information. He can provide a charitable receipt for your donations. Gil’s email
address is [email protected]. For more information
about the organization, the website is www.computersfortheblind.net.
Please do NOT leave any used computer equipment in the Bethany
Narthex or in the Ushers Room. This information will be repeated here
every two to three weeks for your use.
Place the figures in the manger. After a time of silence, all join in the Litany followed by the Lord’s Prayer. Litany for the Child in Each of Us For a greater sense of play. Grant this Jesus. For a greater sense of laughter. Grant this Jesus. For a greater sense of wonder. Grant this Jesus. For a greater sense of curiosity. Grant this Jesus. For a greater sense of spontaneity. Grant this Jesus. Flags and Electronics Recycling for Special Olympics
Unserviceable flags continue to be collected in the flag box which is now
located inside the Usher’s Room. If you are not familiar with the location
of the Usher’s Room, please ask an usher for directions. Used cell
phones, inkjet cartridges, digital cameras, camcorders, and hand held
electronic games can also be placed in this box. The flags will be disposed of in a proper manner. All electronic equipment will be recycled
by an environmentally responsible company and the proceeds from the
recycling will be donated to Special Olympics.
Closing Prayer Lord, bless this creche. Allow us always to be like the Christ child who is in love with his God. May the presence of the creche in our home help us to accept the wonderful gift that you are to us, and the gift we are to each other. (Short silence) God of Mary and Joseph, of shepherds and animals, bless us whenever we gaze on this manger scene. Through all the days of Christmas may these figures tell the story of how they found the Christ in this poor place. Fill our home with hospitality, joy, gentleness, and thanksgiving and guide our steps in the way of peace. Grant this through Christ our Lord. All: Amen. Leader: Let us bless the Lord. All: (Making the sign of the cross) Thanks be to God. Special Note: If you see a flag on a business establishment that is in
need of replacement, please talk with the store manager, thank him for
flying the Stars and Stripes, and ask that the unserviceable flag be replaced and given to you. You should then place the flag into the flag box
identified above. The flag is the symbol of our nation and it is important
that it be displayed and maintained properly. If you would prefer not to
speak with the store manager, please provide the necessary information
(store name and location) to either Bill Ptacek on 972-424-6507 or Paul
Krusac on 972-516-0659 and we will contact the appropriate store personnel.

Do you know someone who has left the Church? Most of us don’t have to look very far to find someone in our circle of family and friends who is an inactive Catholic. We are concerned about these loved ones, but we don’t know how to help them. Many people can’t explain why they stopped coming to church except that life just got in the way. Some inactive Catholics bear a tremendous amount of guilt, legitimate anger, or misinforma‐
tion, but they are afraid of rejection if they approach the Church. For a variety of reasons, some may mistakenly think they are unwelcome or feels excluded in the Catholic Church. Most non‐practicing Catholics are simply waiting for an invita‐
tion to return. If you or someone you know are thinking of coming home to the Catholic Church, we welcome you to come to a quiet place to ask your questions and voice your concerns. An initial private meeting will allow you to discuss any individual matters that you may have. You are not under any obligation to con‐
tinue, but if you desire to come home again, you will have the opportunity to talk and be listened to; learn the up to date teachings of the Church; pray and socialize with other members of our parish family. If you would like to talk about this process, have questions, or would like additional information, please call Debbie Betz at 972‐423‐4715, ext. 232. 6
423‐4715 ext. 225. Gracias. ST. MARK

THE
EVANGELIST CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
Week 4: Lighting of Four Candles
Lord God, the days of Christmas draw very near. We look forward to celebrating the birth of your Son. We are called to keep open our hearts and our lives to be ready for His coming. O Lord, stir up your might and come. Teach us how to be good and faithful followers of your Way, this Advent and always. We ask this through the same Jesus Christ your Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen. Christmas Eve or Christmas Day
Today we light the Candle of Christ, the candle which reminds us of Jesus. It is the center of this wreath, just as Jesus is the center of our lives. The light of Christ shines for all to see. Generous God, you have given us a time of preparation to receive again Your gift of love and joy and hope and healing. In the birth of the child, Jesus, You have given new life to each of us. May we experience the presence of Em‐
man'uel, God with us, this day, and always. Amen.
