SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
Engaged couples must make arrangements at least six months prior
to the date of marriage. All are required to participate in a
marriage preparation program. Please call the office to make an

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Baptism is ordinarily celebrated within a faith community. Please
call the office to register for a preparation class and to arrange for a
time for the celebration.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the
Guadalupe Chapel.
MORNING MASS WEATHER CANCELLATIONS
Christ the Redeemer will follow the Federal Government weather
closings and delays for weekday and Saturday morning Masses.
When the Federal Government closes or has a delayed opening,
morning Mass is cancelled. In order to avoid risking your personal
safety, please use wise discretion when travelling in severe
weather.

donate this income to LINK, S.O.M.E. and the Women's Shelter

AVAILABLE SERVICES FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED
A sign language interpreter is available on the
2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at the 5:30 p.m. Mass.
Along with the Masses, our parish has induction loop
and receiver systems for the hard of hearing. The
devices are located in the Usher Room.
SENIOR GROUP
The CTR Senior Group meets Fridays at 11:30 a.m. in the Library
for “Bring Your Lunch” meetings or at a local restaurant on the
second Friday of the month. Parishioners 55+ are invited to join.

MISAS DOMINICALES
Nuestra Parroquia de Cristo Redentor celebra tres misas
Dominicales: la primera misa Dominical es celebranda todos
los sábados a las 7:00 p.m. la segunda y tercera son a las
12:00 del mediodía y 3:00 p.m. del día Domingo. La misa es
una celebración comunitaria; por lo tanto participan
miembros de los distintos grupos y movimientos de la
comunidad católica, por tal motivo tratamos de no
particularizarla con gestos que son propios de cada grupo o
movimiento eclesial.
SACRAMENTO DE UNCIÓN DE LOS ENFERMOS
Por favor llamar a la Oficina Parroquial para solicitar la
suministración de los Sacramentos de Confesión o Unción
de Enfermos, ya sea en la casa u hospital.
MISAS MEMORIALES
La santa misa se puede celebrar en caso de muerte. Para
arreglar una misa funeral pueden llamar a la oficina
parroquial. Intenciones comunitarias tienen que llegar 15
minutos antes de la misa.

El Sacramento de Reconciliación se celebra todos los

La pareja interesada en celebrar el Sacramento del

PETER’S PENCE (HOLY FATHER) COLLECTION
Next week our diocese will take up the Peter’s Pence
Collection, which provides Pope Francis with the funds he
needs to carry out his charitable works around the world. The
proceeds benefit the most disadvantaged: victims of war,
oppression, and disasters. Join our Holy Father as a witness of
charity to those who are suffering.
2016 BISHOP’S LENTEN APPEAL
Go forth as heralds of God’s mercy!
Thank you to everyone who pledged to the BLA! This appeal
funds diocesan Vocations, Youth Ministry, Catholic Schools,
Catholic Charities, Religious Education programs as well as
many others. If you made a pledge that is still being paid, you
should be receiving monthly reminder statements. You also
may go online to make a payment at
www.arlingtondiocese.org. For questions, please call the BLA
office at 703-841-2570. To date, we have reached 91% of our
goal of $159,000.00. Parishioners have pledged over
$145,000.00 to the Appeal.
MUSIC MINISTRY NEWS
CTR's Summer Choir sings at the Sunday 10:00 a.m. Mass.
Rehearsal is at 9:30 a.m., and Mass is at 10:00 a.m. Come "try
out" singing in choir over the summer months, with no
Thursday rehearsal commitment. See you there!
Mark your calendars for CTR's Second Annual Children's
Choir Retreat, open to children from grades K-6. The retreat
will take place on August 13 and 14. Stay tuned for more

LINK is collecting food for less fortunate families in Herndon,
Sterling, and Ashburn before and after each Mass during June.
The pantry is most in need of SOUPS, all kinds!! During the
month of June, a LINK representative will be in the parking lot

DIOCESAN MULTICULTURAL MASS & FAIR – JUNE 25
Join the many cultural communities throughout the Diocese of
Arlington at the Annual Diocesan Multicultural Mass & Fair
on June 25 at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More, 3901
Cathedral Lane, Arlington. Mass will begin at 5:30 p.m. The
Multicultural Fair and Reception will follow immediately after
Mass. Each cultural community will provide food
representative of their native country for the reception along
with information on their ministries. All are welcome! For

CHAIRS
We are grateful that your generosity has allowed us to
purchase new chairs for our choir loft. Our Music
Director, Claire has ben moving old chairs from the
rehearsal room to accommodate the growing number
of adults and children in our various choirs. The
chairs that were in the choir loft have now been moved
to the Chapel to accommodate parishioners seeking a
more intimate atmosphere for funerals and weddings.

CATHOLIC ADVANCE MEDICAL DIRECTIVE
The Advance Medical Directive is a legal instrument
authorized by, and meeting the requirements of the laws of the
Commonwealth of Virginia which can be completed for use by
all Catholics -whether young or old, healthy or dying. AMDs
can be found on the credenza in the Church Commons Area.

LITURGICAL LAUNDRESS NEEDED
Do you have some free time to offer to the Parish? We are in
urgent need of some parishioners to help with our
Liturgical Laundry. If you enjoy laundry this ministry is
meant for you! You will be asked to be part of a team that
launders the special cloths which are used in the liturgy to

TOOLS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR MARRIAGE
On Monday, June 20, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Sheila Duston, a
clinical psychologist with Family Services, CCDA, will give a
talk on “Tools to Strengthen Your Marriage.” The
presentation will focus on couple’s communication, fair
fighting techniques and understanding your partner’s love
languages. The talk will be held in the Atonement Hall here

“The Son of Man must suffer greatly…”
If you thought last Sunday’s Readings were challenging
because they asked us to admit our sinfulness and seek
reconciliation, today’s Readings offer an even greater
challenge. Last week we were asked to be honest with
ourselves and seek conversion in our relationship with God
and neighbor because of it. Now, Jesus is much more
direct in asking us to take up the Cross daily and follow
him.
There are many ways in which we might hedge our bets,
water down this directive, or offer mere symbolic gestures
of support for Christian service. We might even laud or
dramatize places and circumstances where others suffer
greatly “for sake of the Name.” But at a more basic level,
we might consider how ideologically divided our country
has become, how indifferent we can become to other’s
lives who are different than us, or how numb or blind
we’ve become to each new violent outbreak.
The world we embrace is as imperfect and in need of
healing as our own lives. What is washed away in baptism
is the Original Sin that has marred humanity as a whole.
Mercy shown and forgiveness received commission us to
take up this Cross with the certainty that God conquers it.
