Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church OUR MISSION STATEMENT Founded in the good news of Christ that “God so loved the world that he gave (us) his only Son” (Jn 3:16) and knowing that he (Christ) “came that we might have life — life in all fullness” (Jn 10:10) and rooted in Jesus’ command to “Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34), we the members of Christ the Redeemer Parish commit ourselves: • To foster an understanding and sharing of Christ’s message • To celebrate the glory of God in liturgy which recognizes our diversity and calls us to oneness in God’s presence • To challenge the faithful to respond to Christ’s call to meet the needs of all people with compassion and charity. APRIL 5, 2015 INITIATION RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS (RCIA) “For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.” He Lives! We live in a world where we seek the path to follow the Lord, but many times fail to see his presence, his power, or his call for us to join him. Instead, we are consumed by our own sorrows, desires, or worldly tasks. Then we see the Empty Tomb. The Lord we seek is not there! He Lives! For he is not amongst the dead or bound by the power of death. Instead, we must conform our lives anew as his brothers and sisters, raised up to new life by what God accomplishes through him in union with the Holy Spirit. This Easter, we renew our baptismal promises. We reject the power of evil and profess our faith in Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in one, holy, apostolic church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, and life everlasting! Today we add to our numbers who share this faith: Yen Chau, Karen Mazzola, Jeffrey Mugford, John Smallwood , and Minh-Chau Tran Who celebrated Sacraments of Initiation at the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil. Are you an unbaptized Adult or do you have an unbaptized child over the age of 7 interested in celebrating sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and communion? Are you from a different denomination and interested in becoming Catholic? Please contact Jay Cuasay, Director of Faith Formation at 703430-0811 ext. 112 or [email protected]. CONFIRMATION 2015 Mark your calendars: Meeting #4 is TUE., APR. 21 or THURS., APR. 30 at 7:30 PM in Atonement Hall. If you missed previous meetings, do not have Assignments #1, #2, or # 3, you should contact Jay Cuasay, Director of Christian Formation. Assignments #1-#2 are due now. See ctrcc.org/confirmation for more information. WORKCAMP 2015 WORKCAMP 2015 - HELP NEEDED!!! Are you handy around the house or enjoy working with teens? If yes, we are looking for you! There are many different ways that you could be involved….whether for an hour or for a week. For more information, contact Sue Hinko at 703-4351343 or [email protected]. CHRIST THE REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH APRIL 5, 2015 Easter Joy! He is Risen! The Gospel message about Jesus Christ can be summarized in a few simple words: “He is Risen.” These words are powerful! The resurrection of Jesus changed many lives on that first Easter morning when the Lord’s tomb was discovered to be empty. Momentary puzzlement gave way to rejoicing when the disciples encountered the Risen Lord in all his glory. There was joy that Jesus was among them once again. The message of Resurrection continues to change lives – our lives - even more than two thousand years later. Why? Because it is about our salvation. The many “alleluias” echoed throughout the world is not only because of an historical memory that Jesus was raised from the dead. The message of His Resurrection is very personal to each one of us as we recall that Jesus suffered, died and rose “for our sake” so that we may also live. And this Resurrection message needs to be heard and proclaimed often to remind us that God loves us and is with us. A quick glance at the daily headlines reveals just how desperately this message of Resurrection and new life needs to be heard and experienced. Every celebration of the Eucharist recalls for us the death and Resurrection of Jesus. Our faith is nourished and we are also empowered to be signs of Resurrection and new life in our love for one another. If a parish can accomplish just one task, it is this: to be a sign of God’s love. Let us as a parish continue to be a sign of this love to one another, the local community, and to the world. On behalf of myself and Fr. Jaime Villalobos and the entire parish staff, I wish to extend joyful Easter greetings and best wishes. Let our “Alleluias” be heard loudly as we proclaim “He is Risen.” Fr.
