In the first letter of Peter, we are taught that God made us and
chose us to reveal to the world who he is. Christian stewards
understand that they do not live for themselves. They live to be
stewards of Christ’s presence within them, and to make his
presence known to others. They do it at Mass. They do it in
faith-sharing groups. They do it at work. And they do it daily
in a thousand different ways; and where they express their love
for God and others in a manner that suits their situation and
personality. Name for yourself some of the ways this week you
will make Christ’s presence known to others.

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Saint Vincent’s Corner
In today’s Gospel, Jesus says “…whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones
than these, because I am going to the Father.
Through your almsgiving, you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. The coins placed
in the St. Vincent de Paul collection and the food items you drop in the food boxes bring Christ’s love
and compassion to the poor. For more information about Saint Vincent de Paul, please visit
www.svdprr.org.
Words of Life
Human life must always be defended from its beginning in the womb and must be recognized as a gift of God
that guarantees the future of humanity. Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and
the poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in his own image, destined to live for ever, and deserving of
the utmost reverence and respect. ~ Pope Francis

CATHOLIC SOCIAL
TEACHING
This Sunday, we hear of the first deacons who
were tasked with a ministry of service. Today,
with the restoration of the permanent diaconate,
we have examples of men in our midst who
connect the ministry of Word and sacrament to
the ministry of service. Deacons are in our
midst to call all the baptized to our common
vocation to ensure that the common good is
recognized and accepted.

del diaconado permanente tenemos ejemplos
de hombres en nuestra vida diaria que
conectan el ministerio de la Palabra y el
sacramento al ministerio del servicio. Los

THANK YOU—From the Spring Fiesta Garage Sale Committee
The Fiesta Garage Sale Committee is pleased to report that this year’s Garage Sale netted just over $14,000 for Saint
William.
It takes an army of people to put on a garage sale of this size. The Spring Fiesta Committee wishes to thank all of you
who helped make the garage sale a success.
To start, Frank Alvarez and his team of people who worked to pick up items and transport them week after week to the
warehouse and to the parish hall. Many of them used their own vehicles and trailers. And special thanks to Uncle Bob’s
Storage that donated use of storage facilities. Jim Barger helped to post items and promote the sale on Craig’s List.
Thank you to the many groups who helped sort and price such as Janie Castillo’s sewing group, the Ladies’ Guild who
worked on the day of the sale, and the parishioners who showed up individually to help. And let’s not forget the men who
were there to help move and load furniture. Your assistance was vital to the success of this event.
The Junior Catholic Daughters of America, lead by Annette Sprawls, sold breakfast tacos the morning of the sale, making
about $400, and helping to keep the shoppers around.
Rose and Art Zavala (not parishioners) donated Round Rock doughnuts for the JCDA to sell at breakfast. Saint William’s
Boy Scout troop, led by Greg Rabaey, came in at the end to pack up the remaining items and clean the parish hall for
Sunday.
And, of course, thanks to all of our parishioners who saved their items and donated them for us to sell.
A special thanks goes to a core group of ladies who were there to help every day, all day, all week, before and during the
sale, including every year that this event has taken place. They include Liz Campos, Ann Garbade, Maxine Felux, and
Ann Straseski. Without their help, there would be no garage sale. God bless everyone who participated in any way for
their help in making the garage sale a success.

Parish Pastoral Council Discernment—June 21
Saturday, June 21 at 9:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall
All parishioners, discerning or not, who would like to prayerfully join and support
the Pastoral Council Discernment process are invited to attend the upcoming
meeting. The Pastoral Council is a lay group of 12 representatives of
Saint William who serve as a sounding board for our priests. The council also
acts as a conduit between our priests and our parishioners. The council meets on
the first Saturday of every month.
Mission & Vision
Saint William’s Pastoral Council is a body of wisdom seeking to lead our parish
into a better future. Saint William’s Pastoral council envisions a parish that
 Draws people to Christ, Roots them in the parish, Provides opportunities for
conversion and, Sends them into the world as active disciples.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are we building another one story building that won’t meet our
needs as soon as it is built?
NO, we are not. The one story structures on campus were built to not
compete with the beauty and size of our church. The parish activity
center is to be constructed at the far south east portion of the campus.
Though the parish activity center is to be a two story structure, it will not
compete. The square footage of the parish activity center will meet our
needs both now and as we move forward.
