A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
Jesus points out to his disciples the poor widow who has just
dropped two simple copper coins into the temple treasury.
He then delivers a teaching on stewardship. Despite her
poverty, the poor widow in today’s Gospel does not refuse
God her generosity. Out of her desperately impoverished life
she contributes to an earthly institution to give God glory and
praise. It is not the monetary value of the gift that was
important, but the love, trust and gratitude expressed through
the gift. The Gospel asks us similarly compelling stewardship
questions: What do we value? In what or whom do we place
our trust? How do our own contributions to our community
of faith reflect our generosity toward God?

Saint William invites all liturgical ministries to the upcoming Day
of Reflection for English and Spanish ministries. The event will
be held on November 17, from 9 a.m.—3 p.m., in the Pavilion.
CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING
In today’s Gospel Jesus articulates the heart of the Jewish
and Christian law – love of God and love of neighbor. We
are called to love God with the totality of our being: heart,
soul, mind and strength. By opening ourselves to God’s complete love of us and of all, we are filled with grace and able
to respond by loving ourselves and others as Jesus did –
even to the point of loving our enemies. God loves without
exception and invites us to grow into loving that way too. Is
there anything holding us back?
Who should attend?
Ushers, Lectors, Communion Ministers, Art and Environment
Volunteers.
Atención todos Ministerios Litúrgicos

Reflexión para todos los ministerios, ingles y español. El evento
se lleva a cabo el 17 de noviembre, de 9 a.m.—3: p.m., en la

de Arte y Ambiente
THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Saint Vincent’s Corner
In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us: “I want you to observe that this poor widow contributed more than all the others
who donated to the treasury. They gave from their surplus wealth, but she gave from her want, all that she had to
live on.”
Ask yourself, “Am I only giving from my surplus wealth?”, then put your gift in the Society of
Saint Vincent de Paul envelop so that those who are suffering will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Please bring your can goods to the Thanksgiving Day Mass to share with those in need of food.
The Pro-Life Place
Word of Life
“It’s important for our own integrity and the integrity of our country that we stand up today against these and other
attacks on our religious freedom. History affords many examples, both before and since America’s founding,
where restraints on religious liberty presaged the denial of other human rights. By standing up for religious liberty
now, we can begin to renew the soul of America and strengthen our nation’s commitment to all the rights and
freedoms we enjoy as children of God. In so doing, we may also discover in our own lives what it means to be
fully human.” ~Most Rev. Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Philadelphia “Life Matters: Religious
Liberty and the American Soul,” Respect Life Program 2012

MASS INTENTIONS–2013 Mass Book Open—Thursday, November 1st
The celebration of the Eucharist is the highest form of worship in the Catholic
Church because we unite ourselves with Christ's sacrifice on the cross in
worship of his Father. The faithful may request Mass(es) to be celebrated for a
specific intention, for the living or the dead. To request a Mass Intention at Saint
William during the 2013 year, please visit the Saint William church office.
Due to the size of our parish, Mass Intentions are limited to 3 per family per year,
(1 Mass intention per weekend and 2 per weekday) scheduled on
non-consecutive times or dates.
YEAR OF FAITH/
AÑO DE LA FE
God created us to share in his divine life and has a plan for
our lives. Even when we veer off the path, God still finds a
way to bring us back to him. How do you sense God calling
you to himself and his presence in your daily life?
Dios nos creó para participar de su vida divina y tiene un plan
para nuestras vidas. Incluso cuando nos desviamos del
camino, Dios todavía encuentra una manera de traernos de
vuelta a él. ¿Cómo siente que Dios le llama a sí mismo y a su
presencia en su vida diaria?

El Salvador Mission Trip
My name is Emily Robbins and my family and I have been parishioners at Saint
William for about a year. I am now a freshman at Benedictine College in Atchison,
Kansas and this spring break I have the opportunity to go on a mission trip to
El Salvador with 25 other students and a Benedictine priest. This is the fourth year
Benedictine College students have been going on this mission trip with the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. While we are there, we will build 2 houses
and work with the poor. However, in order to do this, we need your support. We
need to raise $45,000 by January in order for our group to go to El Salvador. This
will cover our flights, lodging and meals, as well as the building materials for the 2
houses. We would also like to purchase sacramentals and toys to bring with us for
the children we will be working with. You can donate through cash, check, or
credit card. All donations are tax-deductible. Simply mail your donation, cash or
check made payable to Benedictine College Ministry Fund, to the address listed
below. Please write “El Salvador” in the memo line. You can pay by credit card by
calling me at 512-820-4357. You will receive a tax receipt for your gift. Thank you
for your generosity and prayerful consideration.
