Pregnant? Need Help? Call 1-800-413-6486 If so, do you realize that you can make a donation to a Catholic school in the Diocese of Phoenix and get a refund for the ENTIRE AMOUNT when you do your state income tax? Too good to be true? No. It's AZ. state tax law. The Arizona Tax Credit allows taxpayers to make a donation to a Catholic (or a charter or even a public school if you wish) and get the money back for helping to educate our state youth. Simply go to CatholicEducationArizona.org and make your donation. You will be sent a receipt and at tax time you fill out a simple form that allows you to deduct 100% of your donation from your tax liability. Even if you do not owe taxes, you will be refunded this money! St. Henry supports our two local elementary schools in Goodyear: St. John Vianney (school # 164 ) and St. Thomas Aquinas (school # 191 ) which you can designate to receive your donation. I do this every year and I do my own taxes so I can testify that it is for real and very easy to file the additional tax form. – Fr. Kosco Thy Will Be Done? Our obligation is to do God’s will, and not our own. We must remember this if the prayer that our Lord commanded us to say daily is to have any meaning on our lips. How unreasonable it is to pray that God’s will be done, and then not promptly obey it when He calls us from this world! Instead we struggle and resist like self-willed slaves and are brought into the Lord’s presence with sorrow and lamentation, not freely consenting to our departure, but constrained by necessity. And yet we expect to be rewarded with heavenly honours by Him to whom we come against our will! Why then do we pray for the kingdom of heaven to come if this earthly bondage pleases us? What is the point of praying so often for its early arrival if we would rather serve the devil here than reign with Christ. – St. Cyprian of Carthage, North Africa (200 – 258AD) 2016 Faith Formation Classes Faith Formation for pre-enrolled Level I students will begin on January 6, 2016 with a mandatory parents only attending - no children. Class will be at 6:00pm in the parish hall. Level II students will resume classes on January 6, 2016 at their usual time. We look forward to seeing you all! Do you recognize the current “man crisis” in our country but don’t know what to do? Do you feel like as a Catholic man you are not living a genuine Christian life? You are invited to join with hundreds of your fellow Catholic men from around the Valley that feel the same way. The 2016 Catholic Men’s Conference is sure to wash away your troubles and reignite the fire in your soul. Join us on Saturday, Feb. 6, at Xavier College Preparatory Performing Arts Center in Phoenix. Catholic men will gather to listen to the most respected national Catholic speakers talk about the battle going on in our own lives and offer solutions to end the conflict in our homes. Doors open at 8 a.m. Tickets are available at cmfp.org.
