John Gribowich Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio has assigned a newly ordained priest, Reverend John Gribowich, to our Parish. Fr. Gribowich is a very fine priest who “would seek to be a servant to the people who are entrusted to him and to ‘really listen’ to their needs”. He loves music and liturgy. He is very enthusiastic to serve the people of God. We are blessed to have Fr. Gribowich with us and we warmly welcome him to St. Nicholas of Tolentine. In the first reading God’s Spirit enters prophet Ezekiel, and he is summoned to preach to rebellious people. Jesus in today’s Gospel goes to his own hometown where he is rejected by his family and town people. But he went forward. We all have experienced disappointments and rejection in our lives. It helps us if we can see the disappointments and rejection as only temporary setbacks and turn to God to find our strength in Him. Saint Paul in the second reading, tells us that he suffered a lot because of some “thorn in the flesh”. He speaks about a physical ailment of some kind that seriously affected his ministry. He begged the Lord to take it away but the answer he got from the Lord was: “My Grace is sufficient for you for power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor 12:9). I believe what this means is that sometimes our suffering can be a blessing to us, although it may not seem that way at the time. The central message of the readings is that we should not give up speaking the truths and values of our faith. We are called not to be perfect but to be faithful. Happy Fourth of July. We celebrate and give thanks to God for the gift of our freedom and independence. As Christians and citizens of the world, we are called to use our freedom in ways that help and heal others, rather than hurt and destroy them. May God help our nation to walk in the way of peace and justice. God bless you, Fr. John Francis Reprinted with permission from Prepare the Word (©2015), PrepareTheWord.com. FOURteenTH Sunday in ordinary time 5 WELCOME FR. JOHN GRIBOWICH! Fr. John Gribowich was born in Trenton, N.J., 36 years ago, but grew up in Pennsylvania as a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Morrisville. He was the only son of the late John and Louise Gribowich. He graduated from De Sales University, Center Valley, PA with a bachelor’s degree in history and theology. Fr. John graduated from St. Joseph Seminary, Yonkers with a master of divinity degree and a bachelor of sacred theology degree as well. He was attracted to the priesthood and grew involved with the church. He was an altar server, joined a youth group and played modern liturgical music. He also became a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at a soup kitchen. Fr. John plays guitar, loves jazz and Bob Dylan and thinks that “music is a great source for him in experiencing God.” St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church is having a Blood Drive on July 12th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm in Tolentine Hall. Please remember to eat/ sleep well and always to take good care of yourself. Below is some important information regarding how giving blood helps to save lives: Red Cells - carry oxygen to the body’s organ & tissues needed by surgery, trauma, cancer and chemotherapy patients, accident, burn victims and at-risk infants. Plasma - is the liquid through which blood cells, proteins, enzymes, nutrients and hormones “swim”. Platelets - act like band-aids to form clots and stop bleeding. It is very important to know that the blood is perishable just like milk, red cells lasts for 42 days; platelets last for 5 days; plasma can be frozen for up to a year. All you need to bring is identification and your love for your neighbor. We need everyone to help save lives . REMEMBER - YOUR PINT CAN HELP 3 LIVES!!!
