From The Pastor’s Desk
In
the 17th Chapter of Luke’s gospel, after the apostles ask Jesus to increase their faith,
Jesus says:
“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” LUKE 17:5-6
This statement by Our Lord really shows how faith can make such a difference in our lives. Faith is
truly a way of knowing without seeing. It’s amazing when we think about it, the mustard seed is the
smallest of seeds and yet it can grow into the largest of bushes! Sometime, I think how the world often
seems confused, perhaps out of synch with our God. What a difference an attitude with a “faith adjustment” could make if we but put more credence in our faith and the power of our faith! If we look
through the eyes of faith at the world with its sometime confusing signals or images or sounds-How much
more in synch with our God all of us can be! So, just as the apostles asked Jesus, we say: “Lord, increase
our faith!”
Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception
What a wonderful experience for those who participated
both from St. Rosalie parish and also from McGann-Mercy
High School. Some 3,000 pilgrims from Long Island participated: in prayer, song and meditation, last Saturday, September 24.
Our Lazarus Program (Bereavement Ministry)
This is for people who have lost a loved one recently. We
will begin another session starting on Tuesday, October 25 at
10 a.m. in the Parish Center. Those newly-bereaved will receive a letter as well. If you have lost someone and would like
to join, please contact Deacon Chris at the Parish Center.

International Culture Project
Last Monday, Sept. 26, St Rosalie’s hosted a program for parents of Teens called the International
Culture Project. It is a Catholic program teaching our teens. It is an initiative of young people trying to
restore culture through living a virtuous life. These young people presented a great picture to our youth
about human dignity and sexual integrity. Parents commented that they
became familiar on how to talk more
sensibly to their teenagers about issues of importance. I’m glad some of
you were able to be there.

Attention All High School Grads,
Parents and Grandparents
Our Teens are becoming Young Adults. They will be starting college with a
lifetime of opportunities in front of them. There will be many choices that they will
make during the next four years, let’s help them to stay connected to their faith
while they are making those choices!
Let’s help our young people keep a faith connection while they are in college.
Many will be away from home and out on their own, what better way to help them
stay grounded and give them a safe place to meet new friends than through their
University’s Newman Center?
Newman Centers are Catholic ministry centers at non-Catholic universities
throughout the country. These Centers provide pastoral services and ministries to
their Catholic student population. Through the Newman Connection, students are
connected to their Campus Minister and invited to join Catholic Campus Ministry.
This becomes their faith community away from home!
It’s simple to make that connection. The only information that is required is the
student’s first and last name and the name of the college or university they will be
attending this Fall. Send this information to Marianne Sheridan, Director for Youth
Ministry at [email protected]. This information will be forwarded to the
appropriate Newman Center and your teen will be welcomed in the Fall when they
arrive at their school.
Let’s keep our Young Church connected and committed to their faith!

The Lazarus Bereavement Support Program
We
at St. Rosalie’s Church
have all suffered the loss of someone near and very dear to us. It may have
been a spouse, child, parent, sibling or friend. Often our grief can be so
devastating that we may feel completely lost and alone.
The Lazarus Bereavement Support Program is a seven-week program in which healing can begin.
It provides members with an opportunity to understand grief in a way that rebuilds our identity and
strengthens our faith in ourselves and in our Lord. Now in its fifth year, the Lazarus Bereavement
Support Program helps members to understand that grief is experienced in each person differently,
and that it often takes a very long time for the pain to heal. Participants will learn strategies for
dealing with grief, and will receive and give valuable group support and fellowship throughout the
healing process.
Anyone who has experienced grief will be enriched by attending. The Lazarus Bereavement
Support Program at St. Rosalie's Church will meet on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Parish
Center, beginning October 25 for nine sessions once a week. We will not meet on November 1. Cofacilitators Dr. Christopher Hayes and Deacon Chris Ervin, invite all interested parties to call the
Parish Center at 631-728-9461. Please register now before the maximum enrollment is reached. There
are no fees or expenses to participate. This is a Church-sponsored opportunity to heal.

ADORATION OF OUR LORD
It is easy to recognize an image of Our Lord in the manger at
Christmas, as well as when we look upon a crucifix. But when we look at
the Consecrated Host, enshrined in the monstrance, is He as easily
recognized? Pray for the gift of faith. The little baby in the manger and the
Man on the cross are images of Jesus Christ, but the One Who is in the
monstrance is not an image, but the Real Presence of Jesus in His glorified
body, hidden within the Consecrated Host. Take the
opportunity to know Jesus a little better in His
Eucharistic Presence so that He becomes more easily
recognized.
Adoration begins after the 8 a.m. Mass on

LA COMUNIDAD HISPANA
El Rosario - La Santísima Virgen
recibió esta divina salutación en
orden a llevar a feliz término el
asunto más sublime e importante
del mundo, a saber: la encarnación
del Verbo eterno, la reconciliación
entre Dios y los hombres y la
redención del género humano.
Embajador de esta buena noticia
fue el arcángel Gabriel, uno de los
primeros príncipes de la corte
celestial.

Apostolado Hispano. ¡Vengan a celebrar! El 16 de octubre
habrá otro Encuentro en East Hampton.

St. Vincent de Paul
Society Reflection
In today's Gospel
Jesus tells his disciples, “When you
have done all you
have been commanded, say: ‘We
are unprofitable
servants; we have
only done what we
were obliged to do.’”
This week, please help the Society of
St. Vincent de Paul to bring the love and
mercy of Jesus to those who feel left out
and abandoned, for indeed we are
only doing “what we are obliged to
do.”
