FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK……
Today is the twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our Holy Mother Church invites us to deepen our understanding of
Jesus Christ as the son of God. Jesus makes it very clear that “Following Him” is not always going to be easy. We
are called to “take up the cross daily and follow Him”
In the second reading, St. Paul has a very powerful message to communicate to us. He reminds us that Christ is
the one who unites us. “Through faith you are all children of God in Christ
Jesus” (Gal 3:26). He reminds us that all of us who have received the Sacrament of Baptism belong to the family
of God. We all are the member of His Body- the Church.
In the Gospel, Jesus asks His disciples two questions in order to know what they thought of Him. The first question is: “Who do the crowds say that I am?” The second one is more personal “Who do you say that I am?” Peter
identifies Him as “The Christ of God.” Peter understood that He was the one promised by the prophets to save
the world.
This question is still relevant for us today. “Who is Christ, and what does He mean to me? Jesus wants
each of us to give our personal statements of commitment. No one else can speak for us. Only we can give him
the answer to His question, “Who do you say that I am?”
Congratulation to all our Graduates:
We offer a special word of Congratulations to the Class of 2016! St. Nick’s graduation took place this past
Friday, June 17th. May the graduates and their families continue to celebrate the milestone with joy and may God
bless them always.
Dear Graduates: Remember the words of Pope Francis: “Young people! The Church needs you, don’t be afraid
of Christ.” Please continue to be part of the SNT family because we need you and love you.
A special thank you to all our teachers and catechists as our Parish School and Parish Religious Education
Programs come to a close at this time. Your sharing of your gifts and talents are blessings to us all.
Happy Father’s Day
We want to wish a Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers,
grandfathers and Godfathers of our parish. May God bless you always and may St. Joseph be your model of care,
kindness and protection.
God bless you,
Fr. John Francis
THE GENERATONS OF FAITH
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
A special word of thanks to the
Hillcrest Post 1078 and Auxiliary for donating
the American Flag that flies on our property at
the corner of
Parsons and Goethals, in memory of all veterans, living and deceased.
The Campaign Team wants to sincerely thank all of you who have pledged
to this campaign. You have helped to put us on the path to success and we
are truly grateful.
We have received over 330 pledges which represent about 24% of registered
parishioners. So now we are appealing to the other 76%. We also encourage
you to redeem the amount you have pledged for this Campaign.
This Campaign will benefit the whole parish and enable us to minister to the
future generations of our busy parish.
Pledge cards are available in the back of the Church. If you have any questions, please call the rectory office during the week.

Do you want to experience a piece of
heaven on earth?
What does it mean to be an intentional disciple of
Jesus Christ?
How do you, a Christian, claim and use the spiritual
gifts that have been given to you because of your
baptism?
What are these spiritual gifts?
Is scheduled for Sunday, July 17, 2016, from 8:00
am to 2:00 pm in Tolentine Hall.
Once again, we ask for your help to save lives. Please
remember to eat and sleep well and as always, to
take good care of yourself.
Please visit St. Nick’s website at:
www.stnicholas-queens.org
A Christian cannot find freedom and joy this side of
heaven without an all encompassing and ongoing
personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Every Tuesday evening throughout the summer, from 7:30 pm
to 9:30 pm, in Tolentine Hall all are welcome to
come and seek answers to these fundamental questions. These meetings are part of an
ongoing series that began earlier this
year on Sherry Weddell’s book Forming
Intentional Disciples: The Path to
Knowing and Following Jesus. Each
Tuesday gathering will provide an open
and welcoming opportunity to discuss what it
means to be a Christian in an extremely challenging
world.
For more information, please contact Fr. John Gribowich at 718-969-3226.
