During the summer
months, there are many
things you can do to help
your child be school
ready in the fall. Research
shows that children learn
best when they are engaged in meaningful play,
so try some of these outdoor learning activities:
Read outdoors. Settle
into a shady sport with
some books and a blanket
for outdoor reading time.
Simply reading together
every day helps your
child understand print
concepts, improves
speech and vocabulary,
promotes parent-child
bonding and fosters a
lifelong love of books.
Sidewalk chalk.
Strengthen the muscles
needed for writing by
drawing with sidewalk
chalk on the sidewalk or
driveway. Ask your child
to write their name or
practice writing the
ABC’s to see how many
letters they know.
Alphabet spotting. Take
a walk or bike ride around
the neighborhood looking
for signs. Challenge your
child to a letter hunt to
see how many letters they
find and identify.
Discovery walk. Explore
your community on foot
looking for things in nature that you may not be
able to identify.
Library visit. When it’s
too hot to play outdoors
or you’ve just run out of
books to read, head over
to the public library. Look
for books about topics
that interest your child or
research things you saw
on a discovery walk.

Durante los meses de verano hay muchas cosas que
usted puede hacer para
ayudar a su niño para estar
listo para la escuela en el
otoño. La investigaciones
demuestran que los niños
aprenden mejor cuando
están involucrados en juegos útiles, trate algunas de
estas actividades de aprendizaje al aire libre:
Leer al aire libre: Acomódese en alguna parte a la
sombra, con algunos libros
y una manta para el tiempo
de lectura al aire libre.
Simplemente leyendo juntos todos los días ayuda a
su niño a entender los conceptos de impresión, mejora el habla y el vocabulario,
promueve el acercamiento
entre padres e hijos y fomenta un amor permanente
por los libros.
Tiza. Fortalecer los músculos necesarios para la escritura dibujando con tiza
en la acera o la calzada.
Pídale a su niño a escribir
su nombre o en la práctica
del alfabeto y la escritura
es ver cuántas letras sabe.
Buscando el alfabeto.
Tome un paseo o en bicicleta por el vecindario en
busca de Letras. Anime a
su hijo a encontrar letra
para ver cuántas encuentran e identifica.
Paseo de Descubrimiento: Explore su comunidad a
pie buscando cosas en la
naturaleza que usted no
pueda identificar.
Visite la Biblioteca:
Cuando este muy caliente
para jugar al aire libre o no
tengan mas libros para leer,
visite la biblioteca pública.
Busque libros sobre temas
que le interesan a su niño o
información sobre lo que
descubrieron en el paseo.
