Impetigo Exposure Letter

Dear Parent,
Your child may have been exposed to, but does not have, impetigo. Please watch for signs of impetigo
for the next five to seven days.
Symptoms of this infection are lesions (open sores) that vary in size and shape. They start as small
blisters that are itchy. When scratched, they open and ooze or weep, then crust over. The lesion may
continue to grow larger and spread. The usual places for them to appear are the face, arms, and legs,
although they can infect any skin area.
Should these symptoms appear, please take your child to your medical provider for treatment. Notify
your child’s Head Start/ECEAP center. We will need a note from your medical provider stating that
treatment has been started and it is all right for your child to be in the classroom environment.

Estimados padres,
Su hijo puede haber estado expuesto a impétigo pero no lo tiene. Por favor, estén atentos a la aparición de
signos de impétigo durante los próximos cinco a siete días.
Los síntomas de esta infección son lesiones (llagas abiertas) que varían en tamaño y forma. Comienzan
como pequeñas ampollas que provocan comezón. Cuando se las rasca, se abren y se rezuman o supuran,
para cubrirse luego con una costra. La lesión puede continuar creciendo de tamaño y diseminarse. Los
lugares habituales donde aparecen son la cara, los brazos y las piernas, aunque pueden infectar cualquier
zona de la piel.
Si aparecieran estos síntomas, por favor lleven a su hijo a su médico para que se le indique tratamiento.
Avisen al centro de Head Start/ECEAP de su hijo. Vamos a necesitar una nota de su médico donde conste
que se ha iniciado el tratamiento y que no hay inconvenientes en que su hijo venga a la clase.
