PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Parishioners:
One day, as Jesus was teaching in the temple, he saw how
people were putting their money into the offering box. Many rich
people put in large sums, but a poor widow put in only two small
coins worth a few cents. And Jesus remarked that “this poor
widow put in more than all the rest.”
Of course, Jesus was not talking about the amount of money
the poor widow was offering. He was commenting on the
generosity of her heart. “For those others have all made offerings
from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered
her whole livelihood,” he explained (Mark 12:41-44, Luke 21:1-4).
This is why, during our Generations of Faith campaign, we
treasured every single donation, no matter how small. We know
that many of our parishioners are living “from paycheck to
paycheck,” struggling to make ends meet. Yet, it was the sum of
their many small offerings that helped us to surpass our campaign
goal.
This past weekend, I was moved to tears when I received a
heavy bag of single dollar bills and loose change, totaling $136.26.
It was from Nazareth and Adely Toledo. After hearing about our
Generations of Faith campaign, these two sisters, ages 10 and 5,
decided to empty their piggy banks and make a donation to the
campaign. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to them. I
already thank Nazareth and her mother in person and on the
phone, but I want to publicly thank them once again.
Nazareth and Adely, you are real models of generosity for us
all. May God bless you and reward you for the rest of your life!

APPRECIATION
We are deeply grateful to George Cambria of Staten Island
who donated his mother’s Knabe baby grand piano to St. Agatha
School last week. We promised Mr. Cambria that we will put the
piano to good use and will always keep him and his family in our
prayers.
ST. AGATHA SCHOOL
St. Agatha School wishes good luck to our 4th and 8th
graders who are taking the NYS Science Test. Also, St. Agatha
School is offering a six-week summer experience rich in fun and
learning, and a great way to make new friends. Please register

LIFE CENTER OF NEW YORK
The Life Center of New York invites you to their Annual
Communion Mass (at 11:00 AM in St. Frances Cabrini Church,
86th St. and 16th Ave.) and Brunch (at 12:30 PM in John Hughes

DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASS
St. Agatha Parish and American Safety, Inc. presents a 6-hour
DMV-approved Defensive Driving Class, from 10:00 M to 4:00 PM
on Saturday, June 25, in Kelly Hall. Successful completion of the
course provides a 10% reduction in insurance rates and a
reduction of 4 moving violation points from your driver’s license.
The fee for the course is $50. To pre-pay and reserve a seat for

LA PERSPECTIVA DEL PÁRROCO
Queridos feligreses:
Un día, mientras Jesús enseñaba en el templo, vio cómo las
personas estaban poniendo su dinero en la caja de ofrendas.
Mucha gente rica daba en grande sumas, pero un viuda pobre
hecho sólo dos pequeñas monedas de muy poco valor. Y Jesús
remarcó “esta viuda pobre ha dado más que todos los demás.”
Por supuesto, Jesús no estaba hablando de la cantidad de
dinero que la viuda pobre estaba ofreciendo. Él estaba
comentando sobre la generosidad de su corazón. “Todos dan
ofrendas de lo que les sobra, pero ella, en su pobreza, ha dado
lo que tiene para vivir,” explicó él (Marcos 12: 41-44, Lucas 21:
1-4).
Es por eso que, durante nuestra campaña de Generaciones
de Fe, apreciamos cada donación individual, no importa cuán
pequeño. Sabemos que muchos de nuestros feligreses están
viviendo “de cheque en cheque”, luchando para llegar a fin de
mes. Sin embargo, fueron las muchas sumas pequeñas que nos
ayudaron a sobrepasar nuestra meta de la campaña.
Este pasado fin de semana, me conmoví hasta las lágrimas
cuando recibí una bolsa pesada de billetes de un dólar y
monedas sueltas individuales, por un total de $136.26. Era de
parte de Nazareth y Adely Toledo. Luego de enterarse de
nuestra campaña de Generaciones de Fe, estas dos hermanas,
de edades de 10 y 5, decidieron vaciar sus alcancías y hacer
una donación a la campaña. No hay palabras para describir lo
agradecido que estoy con ellos. Ya les di las gracias a ellas y a
su madre en persona y por teléfono, pero quiero darles las
gracias públicamente una vez más.
Nazareth y Adely, ustedes son las modelos reales de
generosidad para todos nosotros. Que Dios las bendiga y las
recompensa por el resto de su vida!

Estamos profundamente agradecidos a George Cambria

主爱的兄弟姐妹：
有一天，当耶稣在圣殿里施教的时候，他看人们如
何把钱投入奉献箱。很多富有的人捐献很大的数目，一
个穷寡妇只投入了两个小钱，但是耶稣却说“这个穷
寡妇捐献的比所有人都多。”
很显然，耶稣说的不是这个穷寡妇捐献的数目，而
是她慷慨大方的心。“众人都拿他们所剩余的来投，但
这个寡妇，却由自己的不足中，把所有的生活费都投上
了”（玛尔谷福音 12:41-44，路加福音 21:1-4）。
这也是为什么，在我们世代相传的信仰活动中，不
管多么小数目的捐献，我们都视为宝贵的。我们知道，
很多的教友只靠薪水度日，为生活基本所需打拼；但
就是靠他们的许许多多的小数目的捐献，使我们超过
了我们这个活动的目标。
上个周末，当我收到一个装满一元纸钞和硬币的总
数为$136.26 沉重的袋子时，我感动的哭了。这个袋子
是 Nazareth 和 Adely Toledo 姐妹两个捐献的，一个是
十岁，一个是五岁。当她们听说关于世代相传的信仰这
个活动以后，她们决定把存钱罐里所有的都捐出来。言
语不能表达我对她们的感激，我已经亲自和打电话向
Nazareth 及她的妈妈道谢了，但是我愿意公开地再次
谢谢她们。Nazareth 和 Adely ，你们向我们显示了真正
的慷慨是怎样的，愿天主降福你们，并在你们的生活中
报答你们！
