PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
Dear Parishioners:
A “perfect storm” is an expression used to describe a rare
combination of circumstances that results in an event of
unusual magnitude. The first week of February was a perfect
example of such rare confluence of activities in our parish.
Starting with the Novena to St. Agatha on January 28, we
began a nine-day celebration of our parish’s patron saint,
involving every parish group and organization. On the
weekend of January 30-31, we kicked off the public phase of
our Generations of Faith campaign. During the week that
followed, we celebrated Catholic School Week with St. Agatha
School. On Friday, February 5, we came together as one
parish family to celebrate the Feast of St. Agatha in the three
languages that we speak. On Sunday, February 7, we joined
Auxiliary Bishop James Massa and about 300 of our Chinese
parishioners to welcome the Year of the Monkey. And on
Monday, February 8, we topped it all off by parading around
the block with the dragon and lanterns made by St. Agatha
School’s students.
What a week it was! So busy – yet so blessed! As I ran
from one activity to the next, a verse from the prologue of St.
John’s Gospel kept playing in my head: “From his fullness we
have all received, grace upon grace” (John 1:16). Indeed, this
was all possible by the grace of God – a perfect storm of grace!
Nothing makes a pastor happier and more grateful than
seeing his parishioners happy, his parish alive with activities,
his school advancing in academic excellence, his evangelization
efforts bearing fruits, and yes, his capital campaign going
exceedingly well! Keep up the good work, everyone!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
During Lent, we will pray the Stations of the Cross every
Friday in English after the 8:45 AM Mass and in Spanish before
the 7:00 PM Mass. Our Chinese parishioners will also pray the
Stations of the Cross in Chinese after the 10:00 AM Mass every
Wednesday.
SINGLES CLUB
Happy Valentine’s Day from the Bay Ridge Singles Club of
Our Lady of Angels Church. Come to brunch on Sunday,
February 21, at 2:00 PM. Cost is about $23 includes tax and tip.

BEGINNING EXPERIENCE
The loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation
is one of life's most traumatic experiences; often resulting in
feelings of loneliness and grief. When those feelings remain, it
can be overwhelming and hard to move forward. The
Beginning Experience weekend is a grace-filled time to focus
on you... to feel understood by peers and experience a sense
of peace and a renewed hope for the future. The next

The Charismatic Ministry Cristo Te Ama invites all youth to

LA PERSPECTIVA DEL PÁRROCO
Queridos feligreses:
Una "tormenta perfecta" es una expresión utilizada
para describir una rara combinación de circunstancias que
se traduce en un evento de magnitud inusual. La primera
semana de febrero fue un ejemplo perfecto de tal extraña
confluencia de las actividades de nuestra parroquia.
Comenzando con la Novena a Sta. Agatha el 28 de
enero, empezamos una celebración de nueve días de la
patrona de nuestra parroquia, con la participación de cada
grupo y la organización parroquial. En la semana del 30-31
de enero que dio inicio a la fase pública de nuestra campaña
Generaciones de Fe.
Durante la semana siguiente,
celebramos la Semana de la Escuela Católica con la Escuela
de Sta. Agatha. El viernes, 5 de febrero los unimos como
una familia parroquial para celebrar la Fiesta de Sta. Agatha
en los tres idiomas que hablamos. El domingo 7 de febrero,
los unimos al obispo auxiliar James Massa y cerca de 300 de
nuestros feligreses chinos para recibir el Año del Mono. Y
el lunes, 8 de febrero nos rematamos con un desfilar
alrededor de la cuadra con el dragón y linternas hechas por
los estudiantes de la escuela de St. Agatha.
Qué semana! Tan ocupada—sin embargo, tan bendita!
Mientras corría de una actividad a la siguiente, un verso del
prólogo del Evangelio de San Juan resonaba en mi mente:
"De su plenitud hemos recibido todos, y gracia sobre
gracia" (Juan 1:16). De hecho, todo esto fue posible por la
gracia de Dios—una tormenta perfecta de la gracia!
Nada hace más feliz y agradecido a un pastor de ver
felices a sus feligreses, su parroquia llena de actividades, su
escuela avanzar en la excelencia académica, sus esfuerzos
de evangelización dando frutos, y sí, su campaña capital
excediendo bien! ¡Continúen todos con su gran trabajo!

ESTACIONES DE LA CRUZ
Durante Cuaresma, oraremos las Estaciones de la Cruz
cada viernes en inglés después de la Misa de las 8:45 AM y
en español antes de la Misa de las 7:00 PM. Nuestros
feligreses chinos también orarán las Estaciones de la Cruz
en chino cada miércoles después de la Misa de 10:00 AM.

Ridge de la Iglesia Ntra. Sra. de los Ángeles. Venga a un

主爱的兄弟姐妹：
“完美风暴”是用来形容一种由不同情况组合而达
到一个不寻常的规模的罕见境况。在我们堂区，二月的
第一周里很难碰到的一系列的活动是一个极好的例
子。
1 月 28 日开始，我们开始了堂区主保圣亚佳德九日
敬礼，堂区的每一个小组和团体都参与其中。在 1 月
30-31 日，我们展开了世代相传的信仰的公共阶段。接
下来的一个星期，我们和圣亚佳德学校一起庆祝了天
主教学校周。2 月 5 日（星期五），我们堂区大家庭聚
在一起，用我们所讲的三种语言庆祝圣亚佳德的庆日。
2 月 7 日（星期天），我们大约三百位华人教友和马萨
主教一起欢庆新猴年。在 2 月 8 日（星期一），圣亚佳
德学校的学生手持灯笼和巨龙，围绕学校街道庆祝新
年的游行而使这一系列活动达到圆满。
过去的一个星期是忙碌的一个星期，却也是一个蒙
恩的星期！当我从一个活动赶到下一个活动的时候，
来自圣若望福音序言里的一句话总是在我脑海里出
现：“从他的满盈中，我们都领受了恩宠，而且恩宠上
加恩宠”（若望福音第一章十六节）。实在的，这一切
都是天主的恩宠——恩宠的完美风暴！
堂区教友们充满喜乐，堂区因着不同的活动充满了
活力，堂区学校在教育水平上提升，福传努力结出果
实，当然还有堂区捐献活动超出目标——还有什么比
这些更让神父高兴的事呢？请大家继续保持，再接再
厉！

我们上个星期天的农历新年庆祝典礼非常成功。衷
心感谢所有帮助我们准备礼仪、节目、饮食、布置…的
人，尤其是今年春节委员会的成员。也特别感谢每一位
教友的参与、合作、及支持，尤其是为这次庆祝捐献钱
物的人。我们相信当天大家都在弥撒中得到祝福，在晚
