Message from Our Pastor

My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
Again I congratulate all of our parish family for a beautiful celebration of
the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and for all the hard work and good spirit
that went into our most successful Festival ever. I have been able to say
that for three years in a row! Our celebrations are as beautiful as they are
because they are truly efforts of the whole parish family. If you would like
to join in next year’s effort just send me an email at [email protected]
– we get started again tomorrow!
While I have known the numbers for some time now, I wanted to make the
first announcement of just how successful Fr. Elvis and his very large team
were at the party to thank them. Once again this year, the Lord supplied the
nice weather and we took full advantage of those beautiful days. The net
income from this year’s festival was $213,000 which is $61,000 over last
year. Incredible! That is about a 30% increase over the best we have ever
done.
We saw increased participation in almost every area. I want to congratulate
in particular Monica and the Raffle Team for their success. The blue
envelope campaign and their enthusiasm got our attention - parish support
in selling raffle tickets brought in $129,000 this year. Our support made a
huge difference. This year’s raffle income represents more than half of our
overall income from the festival and is almost double what we sold last
year. Let us continue to support them in the years ahead.
What will we do with that money? Firstly we will pay off all remaining
debts due to our remodeling of the Baptistery and the chapel of El Señor de
los Milagros. We will then use some of the money to help our youth do
their volunteer service at Lourdes. I have committed the parish family to
cover ½ of their travel expenses, so long as we have at least five (5) making
the trip in any given year. I am convinced that this service will help them to
appreciate and integrate the Christian Formation they are receiving here at
the parish and prepare them to be joyful witnesses to Jesus Christ. Finally,
as the County has made us remove all our storage sheds we will begin the
planning process for new storage facilities and hope to be able to build a
large storage facility that all our parish groups could use.
The beauty of the Festival is that while being a joyful celebration in honor
of Our Lady and of our parish family it is also our biggest fundraiser. All
this directly benefits our efforts to bring Christ and His Life to our brothers
and sisters here in Miami – and now even in Lourdes.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
Una vez más felicito a toda nuestra familia parroquial por una hermosa
celebración de la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y por todo el trabajo
duro y el buen espíritu que nos llevó a un Festival más exitoso que nunca. ¡He
podido decir esto durante tres años consecutivos! Nuestras celebraciones son
tan hermosas porque son esfuerzos auténticos de toda la familia parroquial. Si
usted desea unirse al esfuerzo el próximo año envíeme un correo electrónico a
[email protected] – ¡comenzaremos de nuevo mañana!
Aunque he tenido conocimiento de las cifras hace un tiempo, quería hacer el
primer anuncio de cuán exitosos han sido el padre Elvis y su gran equipo, en
la fiesta de agradecimiento. Una vez más este año el Señor proporcionó el
buen clima y nos aprovechamos de esos hermosos días. El ingreso neto del
Festival de este año fue de $213,000, que es $61,000 más que el año pasado.
¡Increíble! Eso es alrededor de un 30% más que el mejor de todos los que
hemos hecho.
Vimos un aumento en participación en casi todas las áreas. Quiero felicitar en
particular a Mónica y al Equipo de la rifa por su éxito. La campaña del sobre
azul y su entusiasmo llamaron nuestra atención - el apoyo parroquial en la
venta de boletos de la rifa trajo $129,000 este año. Nuestro apoyo hizo una
gran diferencia. El ingreso de la rifa este año constituye más de la mitad de
nuestro ingreso total del festival y es casi el doble de lo que vendimos el año
pasado. Continuemos brindando nuestro apoyo en los próximos años.
¿Qué vamos a hacer con ese dinero? En primer lugar vamos a pagar todas las
deudas pendientes de la remodelación del Baptisterio y la capilla de El Señor
de los Milagros. Luego usaremos una parte del dinero para ayudar a nuestros
jóvenes hacer su servicio voluntario en Lourdes. Me he comprometido con la
familia parroquial a cubrir la mitad de sus gastos de viaje, siempre que
tengamos por lo menos cinco (5) haciendo el viaje en cualquier año. Estoy
convencido de que este servicio les ayudará a apreciar e integrar la formación
cristiana que están recibiendo aquí en la parroquia y a prepararlos para ser
testigos gozosos de Jesucristo. Por último, el Condado nos ha hecho quitar
todos nuestros cobertizos de almacenamiento, comenzaremos un proceso de
planificación de nuevas instalaciones de almacenamiento y espero que
podamos construir una instalación de almacenamiento grande que todos
nuestros grupos parroquiales puedan utilizar.
La belleza del Festival es que mientras es una alegre celebración en honor de
Nuestra Señora y de nuestra familia parroquial es también nuestra mayor
recaudación de fondos. Todo esto beneficia directamente nuestros esfuerzos
de llevar a Cristo y su vida a nuestros hermanos y hermanas aquí en Miami y ahora incluso en Lourdes.
