Nuestra Cofradía cumple en
unos días más 65 AÑOS de
VIDA !!
Fue fundada en
Santiago de Chile un 4 de Abril
de 1951. Cuánta agua bajo la
quilla ha pasado desde que los
siete fundadores,
Leng,
Hammer, Macerata, Romero,
Vergara, De la Barra y
Molinari, dieron vida a esta
agrupación. Hoy, los casi 3.000
tripulantes de la Hermandad de
la Costa estamos repartidos en
los 7 mares, 5 Continentes, 25
países y en 178 naos o mesas,
todos remando hacia un mismo
Norte y bajo un solo principio,
nuestro OCTALOGO, común a
todas las Hermandades del
mundo.
Saludamos a todas las mesas
del mundo, especialmente a las
más
antiguas
que
han
perdurado en el tiempo, Chile,
Inglaterra, Italia, Argentina,
Bélgica, España, Uruguay,
USA,
Australia,
Francia,
Polonia, Suiza, Alemania, todas
creadas antes de 1976.
Chile celebrará sus 65 años en
grande los dias 1 y 2 de Abril
con invitaciones a Hermanos en
el extranjero. Será un gran
Zafarrancho programado por la
nao Santiago y patrocinado por
la Capitanía Nacional.

Pero eso no es todo, el 04 de
Abril, la Hermandad celebra los
20 años de la Reconquista de la
Isla de La Tortuga, donde 168
Hermanos de todo el mundo,
bichicumas, cautivas, polizones
e invitados simpatizantes de
nuestra Cofradía asaltaron la
Isla.
Para terminar, la Hermandad de
Chile con su Capitán Nacional
a l cabeza y un buen grupo de
Oficiales, visitará Cuba a fines
de Mayo para dar el vamos a la
nao en esa isla, posteriormente
pasará a Panamá para intentar
formar la balsa en ese país que
luego se convertirá en nao.
Como
ven,
hay
mucho
entusiasmo, esperemos que las
cosas resulten como se planean.

quelque 3000 équipiers de la
Confrérie sont répartis sur les 7
mers, sur 5 continents, dans 25
pays et 178 Tables, guidés par
le même compas et respectant

principe,

OCTALOGUE que partagent
toutes les Confréries du monde.
Nous envoyons donc notre salut
à
toutes
les
Confréries
nationales
du
monde,
spécialement
aux
plus
anciennes et qui ont su
perdurer : le Chili, la Grande
Bretagne, l’Italie, l’Argentine,
la
Belgique,
l’Espagne,
l’Uruguay,
les
USA,
l’Australie, la France, la
Pologne,
la
Suisse,
l’
Allemagne, toutes créées avant
1976.
Le Chili fêtera son 65e
anniversaire avec magnificence
les 1er et 2 avril prochains, en
présence aussi de Frères venus
de l’étranger. Ce sera un grand
Zafarrancho organisé par la
Table de Santiago sous le
patronage de la Capitainerie
nationale.
Mais ce n’est pas tout : le 4
avril, notre Confrérie célébrera
aussi les 20 ans de la
Reconquête de l’Ile de la
Tortue. Ce jour-là, 168 Frères
venus du monde entier,
engagés, captives, amis, invités
et sympathisants de notre
Confrérie sont montés à
l’assaut de l’Ile.

délégation chilienne, emmenée
par son Capitaine national Luis
« Mac Giver » Pellegrini et un
bon groupe d’Officiels, se
rendra à Cuba pour donner le
coup d’envoi à la nouvelle
Table de ce pays. Par la suite, la
délégation passera par Panama
pour tenter d’y créer un noyau
destiné à devenir plus tard une
Table
Comme on le voit, il y a
beaucoup
d’enthousiasme.
Espérons que les résultats
seront à la hauteur de nos
espérances.

nostra Fratellanza festeggerà i

dell'isola di Tortuga. In quel
giorno, 168 fratelli di tutto il
mondo, imbarcati, cautive,
amici, ospiti e sostenitori della
nostra Fratellanza diedero
l’assalto per conquistare l'isola.
Ancora una parola: una
delegazione cilena, guidata dal
suo Capitano Nazionale Luis
"Mac Giver" Pellegrini e un
buon gruppo di funzionari si
recherà a Cuba per il varo
iniziale della nuova tavola di
quel paese. Successivamente, la
delegazione si recherà a
Panama per cercare di creare lì
un nucleo che diventi poi una
tavola
Come si vede, c'è un sacco di
entusiasmo. Speriamo che i
risultati saranno all'altezza delle
nostre
aspettative.

Chile will celebrate with

Brotherhood

delegation will go through
Panama to try to create the core
that could later become a Table.
As you can see, there is a lot of
enthusiasm. Hopefully the
results will live up to our
expectations.

las Américas y
Reconquista de la
Isla La Tortuga

about this event..
La Reconquista !
« Le 4 avril 1996, jour anniversaire de sa
création, notre Confrérie a reconquis l’Ile
de la Tortue, lieu mythique de la Flibuste.
Notre vaisseau, le Starflyer, était au
mouillage devant Basse-Terre et les
quelque 150 Frères et Captives de
l’expédition ont pu embarquer à bord de
canots pour prendre l’île d’assaut. A terre,
nous sommes montés jusqu’au premier
puis, plus haut, jusqu’au deuxième Fort. Et
là nous avons poussé force Ooooorzas ! et
chanté nos hymnes traditionnels. La Tortue
était à nous !
Vraiment ?
Tout autour de
nous, il y avait des
visages d’enfants,
de
femmes
et
d’hommes venus
des
villages
environnants. Ils
ne nous lâchaient
pas d’une semelle,
et se demandaient
sans doute : qui
donc sont ces drôles de Blancs, que nous
veulent-ils ?
Et à vrai dire, lorsque je repense à cette
historique journée, je revois surtout ces
visages d’enfants, de femmes et d’hommes.
Et je me demande : que sont-ils donc
devenus dans ce pays si triste et si
beau… »

Star Flyer was nothing short of enchanting.
The stillness of
the
early
morning
prevailed as a
sweet
odor
filled the air.
Life on shore was beginning to appear. All
around us boats were being attended to.
Others were
under
construction.
As the sea
breeze filled
in, boats with
curious crews
appeared.
Others
congregated in
small
skiffs
ready to dive

for coins thrown to them from the Star
Flyer. Along
the
shore
remnants of
a troubled
past are still
visible.
Haiti is a
beautiful
place. It is hard to believe from this vantage
that it is anything but magical. »

fueron polizones muy apitutados con
filibusteros en viaje.

PRIMERA BAJADA A TIERRA
Cap Haitien. Después de un fuerte
desayuno y bolsas con provisiones para un
largo camino, se bajaron las lanchas de
desembarco y la tripulación filibustera se
lanzó a la playa seguidos por sus cautivas.
La primera línea de defensa del puerto de
Cap Haitien fue superada fácilmente, la
policía, guardias y aduaneros estaban con
nosotros y facilitaron nuestra introducción
tierra adentro. Los piratas más fieros se
apoderaron de jeep Land Rover antiguos, de
muy mal mantenimiento en pintura y
mecánica, otros que reservaron sus fuerzas
para el ataque final, se fueron en minibuses
con aire acondicionado.
El 30 de Marzo de este año se cumplen 20
años del Zafarrancho de Las Américas de
1996, con la participación de 168
Hermanos venidos de todo el mundo, la
mayoría chilenos, todos
hicieron esta
travesía hacia Haití en un velero de 4 palos.
Durante este zafarrancho navegado se
procedió al asalto de la Isla La Tortuga el
dia 4 de abril. El Hermano “Américo” aka
Jorge Sapiains de la Hermandad de Chile,
fue uno de los participantes y con gran
entusiasmo ha escrito un libro de 64
páginas con fotos a color, descripción,
información y anécdotas, titulado "Travesía
de Las Américas 1996 en isla Tortuga", el
que se encuentra en la página web
www.hermandaddelacosta.cl.
y que
invitamos a visitar.
Hemos solicitado permiso al Hermano
Américo para hacer un brevísimo resumen,
separados por párrafos de esta historia, la
idea es solo recordar y mantener vivo en
nuestras mentes este gran episodio, pero
Uds. pueden leerla en forma completa y con
todos sus detalles en la página web
mencionada…
El Hno. Mikael Krafft de la Nao de Francia,
Table de Cannes Côte d 'Azur, puso a
nuestra disposición su velero Star Flyer.
Los Hnos. de Europa atentos y con espías
hábiles, en conocimiento de esto, saltaron
en masa al abordaje y se sumaron a esta
travesía, que originalmente era sólo para
americanos.
EMBARQUE
Las lanchas del Star Clipper llevaban los
pasajeros al velero, mientras las maletas se
amontonaban para ser embarcadas al final
por la tripulación.
El espectáculo del velero era cada vez más
grandioso en la medida que nos íbamos
acercando con la lancha que nos
transportaba. Pareciera que se hubiera
llegado a un clímax cuando atracamos al
costado del buque, pero no, mayor fue el
sentimiento cuando subimos a la cubierta
donde nos esperaba un cóctel de bienvenida
y mayor aún las de las otras etapas que nos
esperaban.

polizones fue de 168, formada por:

Como ven la lista de Hermanos, cautivas y
polizones de la Travesía del Caribe es larga,
los nombres de cada Hermano se encuentra
en la pág web y por razones obvias no
aparecerán aquí.
VISITA A LA CIUDAD
Posteriormente al asalto de la Citadelle, los
que sobrevivieron al esfuerzo de la montaña
recorrimos la ciudad acompañado de dos
guías de color. Solo 10 filibusteros y
cautivas salieron a ese recorrido, se había
hecho una advertencia que no salieran solos
a las calles por temor a algún grupo de
exaltados que pudieran, ya sea por razones
políticas, sociales o raciales, que tras lanzar
algunos insultos, se pudieran producir
asaltos.
El grupo tuvo un muy lento andar debido al
interés que demostraban por cada tienda en
una calle dedicada totalmente a la artesanía.
Los dos guías trataban desesperadamente
mantener unido el grupo como quien
acorrala ovejas, cuatro de nosotros
estábamos en la punta del cerco tratando de
arrastrarlos a partes más interesantes en el
interior de la ciudad. De repente uno de los
guías permitió separarnos en dos grupos, el
nuestro, de dos filibusteros y sus cautivas y
el resto que quedó en las compras y volvió
al barco; comenzamos a recorrer las calles
hacia una iglesia católica, entramos con
respeto pues había misa, estuvimos poco
rato, retratamos algunas haitianas con
lindas fisonomía, fuimos de compra de
rollos fotográficos.
RADA SAN LUIS DU SUD
La travesía consultaba un tercer
desembarco en la rada San Luis du Sud,
también llamada Bahía de Cronwell en
otros tiempos.
Por una parte, la necesidad de llegar a
tiempo a puerto final hizo pensar la
conveniencia de no acceder a esa rada, por
otra, las cautivas estaban amotinadas
porque no les había sido posible nadar en
esos mares y deseaban la oportunidad de
hacerlo. Transacción, se bajaron las velas,
se ingresó a la bahía, se lanzó el ancla, se
bajaron todas las lanchas de desembarco y

se autorizó un baño de dos horas. Capricho
de ricos como para detener un buque por
tan poco tiempo solo para tomar un baño,
facultad que teníamos por ser únicos
mandantes y hermanos del dueño del
velero, además, por contar con la simpatía
del capitán que aprendió a querer a nuestra
cofradía. Interesante por decir lo menos fue
esa rada, el despliegue de recursos para un
rápido desembarco, los fuertes que
orillaban la playa, las pequeñas islas de los
alrededores, la agradable temperatura del
agua, la arena blanca, etc., posteriormente
comenzaron a llegar embarcaciones de
velas negras con lugareños curiosos por la
llegada de los bañistas. La playa se llenó de
gente de color, llegó una nave más grande
con autoridades a las que hubo que mostrar
los permisos del velero.
Espectacularmente alarmante era la visión
de la llegada masiva de los botes locales
que venían con velas negras. Se veían como
en el mejor tiempo de la piratería. Los botes
en ese lugar eran de canoas vaciadas de un
tronco y como vela utilizaban seguramente
paños plásticos reforzados que sirven de
embalaje a la mercadería que llega al
puerto, por ello su uniformidad en calidad y
color.
ZAFARRANCHOS
.
Cada noche de la travesía fue programada
para permitir que las delegaciones
principales asumieran la dirección del
Zafarrancho de las Américas así como se
designaron las siguientes actividades:

El rancho en el barco fue a todo gusto y en
cantidad sin límites. El desayuno según
costumbre norteamericana era abundante y
al estilo escandinavo con todo servido e una
mesa central y con posibilidades de
repetirse cuantas veces quisieran; existía
ensaladas de frutas, carnes, fiambres,
tocino, huevos, tortilla, jugos, te, café,
mermeladas, distintos tipos de pan,
mantequilla, leche, crema. El almuerzo
también se presentaba de la misma forma
con repetición y variaban algunos platos
principales, estuvo presente el caviar y
langosta entre otros muchos otros manjares.
A las 1700 Hrs. se servía en la cubierta del
velero sanwiches, jugos y carnes calientes
para picar según el sistema de autoservicio.
En la noche, a las 1930 Hrs. se servía la
cena, esta vez todos sentados y servidos por
mozos de un menú con alternativas.
Durante
la
cena
se
desarrollaba
normalmente el zafarrancho que dirigieron
por turno cada delegación designada. Lo
que no estaba incluido en el pasaje era la
pólvora en todas sus expresiones, desde el
simple jugo al trago largo, por lo que cada
orza que no fuera de hielo con agua debía

cancelarse mediante la firma del vale
respectivo.
Esto último motivó que fuera sobrio el
estado natural de los piratas y que el regalo
de una botella de pólvora y pisco sour
fueran muy bien recibidos.
Por razones de espacio no se informará aquí
lo que aconteció cada noche que fue
organizada por cada delegación, pero todas
fueron muy entretenidas y regaladas…
mayor: buscamos la amistad sincera,
fraternal, que nos enlaza por encima de
lenguas y culturas diversas; buscamos la
unidad que nos ofrece el Octálogo,
enraizada en el amor compartido que
sentimos por el mar y en el Espíritu Eterno
de Aventura.

veleros y a permitir que uno, el Star Flyer,
enfilase rumbo a Haití, por vez primera,
para llevarnos juntos hasta la isla de La
Tortuga.

Third Smelt Zaffarancho of Table
Hamburg on February 27th 2016
The Tables are emerging from hibernation,
launching their vessels, and preparing for
the 2016 season. The highlight of 2016 will
be the voyage to Inis Mor, Aran Islands, on
May 13 and 14, led by the Northern Table.
There will be a Zaffarancho in Renvyle
House, Connemara, on May 13. The Aran
Islands lie at the mouth of Galway Bay
protecting it from the Atlantic Ocean. They
also lie mid-way on Ireland's Wild Atlantic
Way, a route of 2500km which runs along
that truly spectacular coast from Mizen
Head in the South to Malin Head in the
North.

facing the Atlantic sentries by massive

The Zaffarancho culminated in a lot of
FUEGOS and OORZZAAS in all directions
of the compass. So farewell to all with an
invitation for the next year, when Hamburg
will celebrate its first five years in the spirit
of the German Brotherhood.

The Four Tables in Ireland agreed to
support the Atlantic Youth Trust Project
(AYT) fully at the November meeting in
Ardtara
House,
Upperlands,
Co.
Derry/Londonderry. The Freres are taking
part in the AYT Conference/Dinner in
Galway on March 12.
The Trust ( www.atlanticyouthtrust.org) is
going to build and operate an all-Ireland
Tall Ship, a barquetine, which will provide
educational and personal development
aimed at youth. The ship will be steel
hulled, 48m in length. Heading up the AYT
Project are four Freres, namely Lord Robin
Glentoran, Dr. John Killeen, Peter Cooke
and Enda O'Coineen. Guest of honour at the
dinner is Minister for the Marine Simon
Coveney,
a
sailor
himself.

Under a blue but chilly sky of February, the
Table “Back” Hamburg received its guests
for the traditional Smelt ZAF. At this
season, the smelt, a small, but delicious
fish, is swarming upriver on the Elbe and is
caught in quantities by our fishermen - to
arrive at last on the plates in front of our
hungry brothers.
But brotherly things first: nearly 40
brothers and captives from the tables of
Bavaria,
Berlin
Potsdam,
Lübeck
Travemünde and Hamburg gathered around
our Table Captain Eilert <Sergeant
Pepper> Wilcks and our National Captain,
Heinz <Speckseite> Scheel to welcome a
new engagé of the Hamburg Table,
Cornelius Bockermann. As experienced
Captain, he bought, refitted and turned into
her old beauty an Dutch-designed sailing
freighter, AVONTUUR, and transformed
her for being used as an ecologic, emissionfree, CO2-neutral ocean transporter (have a
look on the page www.timbercoast.com).
On his way

globe, he will
act as an
ambassador
for
the
German
Brotherhood
and his future
Hamburg
Table.

From 9th to 13th December 2015, 84
Brothers, Captives and guests representing
8 different nations like USA, Switzerland,
Belgium, Great Britain, Chile, Poland and
the Channel Islands, enjoyed a wide
program of multiple choice. Perfectly
coordinated, the guests joined classic city
tours, world class evening shows, guided
goose picking bunker tours, Museums, river
cruises, Christmas markets, world famous
gourmet temple at KDW shopping center,
Gate Brandenburg and more highlights of a
very special city plus some spontanous
private tours for guests by local Brothers
and Captives.
Highlight then on December 12th took place
in the Christmas atmosphere of PotsdamYacht-Club as our traditional host.
Ceremonies and speaches with wonderful
presents, introduction of the new Brother
Stefan “Hans Dampf” Dierks to the Table
Bavaria and not to forget, loads of roasted
ducks, led over to our wonderful musicians
as Uli “Cantare” Kinstner from Table
Bavaria with songs written by Jacques Brel,
followed byBrother Michaek Glaysher from
East Anglia as one of the best Elvis Presley
interpreters and of course Gerd Mueller
from Table Luebeck-Travemuende who
started the whole crowed to sing seaman
songs, strongly supported by numerous
bottles of outstanding quality rum,
sponsored by our hosts and Fred “German
Bucht” Merkle from Brussel Table. It all
ended in high fidelity at Brotherhoods best
spirit to the delight of all of us, as one can
see from various e-mails sent to the
organizers after returning home.
As the national Captain Germany, I say
thank You Christian “Brandenburger”
Berghausen, his Captive Christine and the
team behind him, for organizing spectacular
days in perfection again. The german

from the Sydney International Boat Show;
after reviewing several pairs of catamaran
keels with Brother Warren Myles and other
rigging, he was also able to review an older
pair with no rigging or structural support.
In October the crew members were
convinced to momentarily depart the
waterways of Sydney and do a three-day
road-trip to travel back in time to Tuena, an
1850’s gold mining village some 274km by
road from Sydney, where Barba Blanca
Rod Gault and captiva Cathy have a
country estate.

Later in October several of the crew joined
Mr Smith to assist crewing on Mrs Smith’s
yacht Wayfarer in the biannual Sydney
Amateur Sailing Club season opening OldGaffers Day regatta. Over 100 yachts,
mostly more than 50 years old and some
from the 1880s join together to sail several
different courses around the harbour on a
Sunday afternoon. Spectators also gather on
an 80 year-old harbour ferry to observe the
efforts of the crew, many of a similar age to
their vessels. For Wayfarer it was a first tryout after a number of years in refit and
renovation by Mr Smith and all went well,
if a little slower than some of the fleet –
especially America’s Cup entrant from the

Report from Australia
From the spring of 2015 to the autumn of
2016 in the southern hemisphere, brothers
of the Sydney Table have continued with
monthly activities in and out and on the
waterways of Australia. There has been a
lack of visitors to our region of late and so
with our brothers from New Zealand and
frères from New Caledonia, we are
attempting to organize a small South
Pacific Zafarrancho in New Zealand in
November 2016 –more of that later.
September saw International Talk Like a
Pirate Day and the crew were summonsed
to the Captain’s estate once again to feel the
ancient needs of strange talking fulfilled.
Piratical pick-up lines were practiced,
between consenting adults of course, and
the usual food, frivolity and frolicking was
feely flowing. Reports were received from
Peter & Gayle Smith of their travels by
barge in the Zeeland and Biesboch region
of the Netherlands and their visit to the Sail
Amsterdam 2015. They were very
impressed with the welcome from their
Dutch Brothers and the opportunity to
salute the fleet in one of the sail-past
events. A visit to the 2020 event is likely to
attract more brothers from Australia. Mr
Tim Morris also reported on his exploits
with naked ladies on buses whilst traveling

No water activities were to be had other
than gold-panning in the creek and crossing
the swing-bridge. No internet or mobile
phone access either so it is a virtual retreat
from the virtual world and its means of
communications. The town is also within
coo-ee (an Australian colloquial term for
shouting distance) of the famous
Abercrombie Caves – a series of limestone
caves full of stalactites and stalacmites,
veils and other natural wonders. But fear
not those faint-hearted claustrophobics
among the readers – the caves are
gynormous and can be walked or rolled
through from end to end in some places.
They held an opera in one of the main caves
in 1908 and there is even a dance floor in
the central area, which was of course tested
out by those twinkle toed crew members.

In November the Captain declared he was
worried about the security situation in
Sydney Harbour and its environs and the
ability of the crew to man the yardarms and
swing on trapeze with cutlass at hand and
ready for action. He therefore ordained a
tour of inspection by public ferries for the

Abercombie Zombie was unsuccessful and
all that was found was a hungry ringtail
possum which helped us finish off the
watermelon course of the barbeque
luncheon arranged for the day. Other
activities for the weekend included visits to
the general store-community bar, joining
the whole town watch the grand final of the
National Rugby League competition and
fine dining and wining. Unfortunately after
crew to inspect, assess and report on the
condition of the public infrastructure
adjoining Sydney Harbour and Port
Jackson. Crew-members from as far away
as Brisbane joined the rivercat ferry from
Parramatta and travelled the 20km or so to
Circular quay. A checklist of items for
inspection and further questions about
nautical terms related to privateers and
other boucaneers was provided to the crew
to assist their ruminations along the way.

fter an inspection of the Sydney Harbour
Bridge and counting of the number of rivets
within its 90 year old arch, it was time for a
fuel stop for coffee and croissants at
Circular Quay. Do you know how
enervating it is to count 6 million hand
driven rivets in 52,800 tonnes of steel arch?
The Eastern Suburbs ferry was then
successfully boarded by rope and gangway
for travel to Watson’s Bay at the eastern
end of Port Jackson.
The recent events in Paris at the time were
strongly on the minds of the crew and a
glass or three were raised in solidarity to
our French Brothers. It would be nice to say
the crew arranged for it but smart minds
think alike and the government had already
hoisted the French tricolour to the top of the
Sydney Harbour Bridge also as a
demonstration of solidarity. The crew then
enjoyed a fish and chip lunch at Doyles
Hotel before contemplating the rocks and
cliffs of the Gap nearby and its views to the
Tasman Sea to the east.
The Captain then reviewed the assessment
and answers of the crew and ordered a
return trip the check their facts and figures.
By the time of the return upriver, the tide
was taking the water elsewhere and the
ferry would only travel as far as Rydalmere,
requiring Barba Blanca and Mrs Gault to
take the bus for the remainder of their
journey. That is probably enough news
from Sydney and further news of Christmas
coconuts, the annual January pool regatta
and other exploits will be reported at a later
date.

Mais l’important c’est de naviguer, n’est-ce
pas ? Comme on dit, qu’importe le flacon
pourvu qu’on ait l’ivresse !
En grande Tenue, Coeur Malouin, Grand
Frère de France (et son équipage),
attendait ses Frères en les remerciant de
monter à son bord.
Dans
l’esprit
des
organisateurs,
l’embarquement devait se faire entre 16 et
18 heures, afin
d’appareiller au plus tôt vers des terres
inconnues : Trocadéro, le Louvre, Bercy….
A 18 heures, la moitié manquait à l’appel
????
L’explication est venue d’elle-même : une
erreur d’impression avait indiqué sur la
Lettre de Course un embarquement de… 18
à 20 h. Même les grands Capitaines peuvent
avoir la boussole déréglée !
Bref, ils sont venus, ils sont tous là : Frères
et Captives, vite en tenue pour l’apéro de
bienvenue. Au mot « apéro » tous se
précipitèrent : aucun absent à redouter !
Pendant que le Botticelli quittait son quai
pour cingler plein est, eut lieu vers 20
heures la présentation de l’équipage :
Le Capitaine et ses matelots en belle tenue,
nous rassurant sur le fait que son Second
tenait fermement la barre !
Le Commissaire de Bord, Leila, bien
connue des habitués du Boucan du Salon,
très heureuse d’être encore parmi nous. Elle
nous aime tellement qu’elle collectionne les
insignes de la Confrérie, et célibataire,
serait « presque » prête à devenir Captive
pour épouser un Frère ? A bon entendeur
salut !

France, Provence Toulon, Marseille

Table de Turin. Il remercie tous les Frères
et leurs Captives (toujours aussi seyantes)
pour leur présence et particulièrement son
homologue le Grand Frère de Belgique.
Il indique le programme des « réjouissances
»:
· Diner avec tirage au sort pour permettre
une meilleure « osmose », (comme dans les
dessalinisateurs) !
· Soirée animée par les « surprises » puis
danse à gogo.
· A partir de 9 h du matin, Conseil des
Sages, des Grands Frères et Grand
Conseil.
Un ORZZAAA est déclamé par un Frère
avec un bel accent hispanique et le Bosco
National Aeronef procède à la lecture de
l’Octalogue dans un silence religieux.
Après un diner copieux et bien arrosé,
chacun s’installe dans le salon bar pour
assister ET participer : chaque Table (ou
presque) a préparé un petit spectacle, va le
présenter et l’applaudimètre décidera du
vainqueur, avec l’aide de Leila et de son
DJ Animateur ! Bigre. Un beau challenge,
d’autant plus que les prix sont des
bouteilles de Rhum de 20 ans d’âge.
Sans hésitation, les Tables font leur « show
» Bretagne : sketches à deux sur les
proverbes météo et autres amusements
Bretons.
Normandie : une belle histoire contenant le
nom de Frère de tous les Sages.
Ile de France : chanson de la Flibuste à la
sauce Frère de la Côte
Flandres Septentrion : chanson populaire
du carnaval de Dunkerque accompagnée
par la cornemuse de L’Amusette.
Provence Toulon : Hymne de leur Table
Marseille Mistral : chanson locale pour «
faire la bouillabaisse », peuchère….
Côte d’Azur : hymne des Frères de la Côte
paroles et musique originales (hors
concours)

C’est par un beau soleil et une chaleur quasi
printanière que les Frères de la Côte, ont
abandonné leur port habituel, pour

applaudi de tous, nous annonçant le menu
du soir. Comme quoi les papilles gustatives
peuvent entrainer des réflexes intempestifs
de claquement de mains : c’est
médicalement reconnu.
Coeur Malouin prend ensuite la parole
pour saluer les Tables représentées ce soir :
Enfin, après bien des hésitations du jury, il
apparait que Bretagne, Flandres Septentrion
et Provence Toulon virent en tête, presque
exæquo sur la ligne d’arrivée : alors
chacune de ces trois Table reçoit un prix,
sous les applaudissements généreux de
tous.
Il est déjà tard mais la soirée ne fait que
commencer, place à la dance : rock, slow,
tango, madison, jerk, … La piste ne se
désemplit pas malgré les Frères et les
Captives qui peu à peu rejoignent leur
cabine.
Il
y
a
toujours
des
inconditionnel(le)s et il faut l’intervention
de Coeur Malouin à 1h30 du matin pour

couper le sifflet à la musique et envoyer
tout le monde au lit.
Nuit calme, rythmée par le clapotis des
vaguelettes de la Seine contre les Quais de
Poissy où le bateau est amarré.
Petit déjeuner copieux jusqu’à 9 heures.
Puis d’un côté il y a ceux qui travaillent :
Conseil des Sages, Conseil des Grands
Frères, Grand Conseil…et ceux et celles qui
flânent, regardant défiler les berges,
observant les oiseaux en nombre,
surveillant les écluses, ceux et celles qui
papotent et ceux et celles qui jouent avec
l’aide du DJ Animateur.
Ainsi passe la matinée jusqu’à l’apéro et le
déjeuner : pas de tirage au sort cette fois
Avant le dessert, le Grand Frère de
France prend la parole pour annoncer 2
décisions importantes :
· Le Grand Boucan National 2016 aura
lieu à Lyon, du 28 au 30 octobre, sur un
bateau équivalent à celui-ci, 3 jours/2 nuits
avec différentes visites, pour la somme de
720 € par cabine (2 personnes), ce qui est
très modeste. Tout est inclus, y compris l’ «
Open Bar » !!! (Applaudissement nourris !).
Les Tables recevront la Lettre de Course
très prochainement.
· Compte tenu de la bonne santé des
finances de la Confrérie, la cotisation
nationale passe de 30 à 20 € pour 2016. (Re
salve d’applaudissements !)
Puis Coeur Malouin appelle auprès de lui
La Lacune et Ajut : il remet à chacun une
Etoile Bleue, pour services exceptionnels
rendus à la Confrérie Nationale,
accompagnée d’un parchemin résumant ces
contributions :
La Lacune : pour la tenue et la mise à jour
du Rôle National depuis de longues années
et sa fidélité au Conseil des Sages.
Ajut : pour l’organisation du Zafarancho
International en Septembre 2014, et la
contribution de celui-ci au rayonnement de
la Confrérie Française à travers le Monde.
Il
appelle
ensuite
Cache
Flots,
Subrécargue National, et lui remet un S en
or, à porter sur son Tricorne, en
reconnaissance du travail accompli dans la
remise en ordre des comptes de la Confrérie
et de leur gestion.
Il rappelle ensuite que le Grand Boucan de
Turin aura lieu le 23/24 Janvier.
Puis il passe la parole au Grand Frère de
Belgique, qui annonce avoir en sa
possession le « Log Book » des Traditions
de la Confrérie…mais en Irlandais !
Egalement il a à la vente des casquettes des
Frères de la Côte belges !
Suit le Grand Frère de Bruxelles, qui
annonce que le 23 janvier la Table de
Bruxelles fêtera ses 60 ans avec un
Branlebas au Yacht Club et qu’il souhaite
voir de nombreux Frères français se joindre
à la fête.

Puis Coeur Malouin remet à Bout Dedans,
Grand Frère de la Table de Marseille, (et
son Dauphin), une Etoile Rouge pour sa
traversée de l’Atlantique Enfin le
L’Amusette, Scribe de la Table Flandres
Septentrion nous fait part du Grand Bal
des Frères de la Côte qui aura lieu
les9/10 Janvier à Dunkerque. La Lettre de
Course est en préparation.
Que d’activités, que de festivités ! A toutes
ces annonces, les ORZAAA furent lancés,
mais le dernier ORZAAA, solennel, par les
Frères debout, fut pour Coeur Malouin,
Grand Frère de France, en remerciement de
son énergique contribution à la Confrérie
Nationale.
Il était temps de passer au dessert, mais
encore 2 surprises :
· L’Anniversaire de Labroque : des fusées
sur son gâteau, un « Joyeux Anniversaire »
en chanson de tous les Frères, accompagnés
par le Biniou de L’Amusette.
· Les voeux de bonheur des Frères à nos «
Jeunes Mariés !!! »
Vent sous Vergue et Annick.
Enfin, et parce qu’elles sont rarement
citées, Fasquette propose de ne pas
oublier les Captives et de faire un
ORZAAA en levant les verres en leur
honneur. Ce qui est fait avec force et
grandeur.
Voilà, le temps est passé vite. Le Botticelli
est amarré à son quai de Grenelle, devant la
Maison Ronde de la Radio, et chacun
reprenant ses oripeaux civils repart vers son
port d’attache. Moult embrassades et
poignées de main et la promesse de se
revoir bientôt.

BELGICA
Ce samedi 23 janvier 2016, la Table de
Bruxelles fêtait les 60 années de son
existence. Un événement important, pour
lequel une touche « bruxelloise » était
impérative. C’est donc au BRYC (Brussels
Royal Yacht Club) que les 160 convives
arrivaient vers 19 heures, traversant deux
haies de tables où des Frères volontaires,
armés de tabliers réalisés pour l’occasion,
de couteaux et autres outils adéquats,
ouvraient les 1400 huîtres ramenées de
Bretagne le jour-même.
A l’accueil, chaque invité reçut un petit
carton avec son surnom et le nom de la
Table auquel il sera convié à s’asseoir, mais
aussi un pin’s tout fraîchement réalisé pour
commémorer
la
date.
On
y
distingue « Sextant Pisse » la Mascotte de
la Table de Bruxelles, et « 1956-2016 ».
Après un apéritif au cours duquel Captives
et Frères rivalisaient de succès dans leur
costume de pirate, de flibustier ou de
corsaire, tout le monde s'installa au
banquet, les tablées étant étiquetées par le
Sobriquet de Grand-Frères de la Table de
Bruxelles, décédés depuis la Fondation en
1956.
Un grand moment pour les engagés de
Bruxelles, en tablier, très actifs, qui ont pu
servir les huîtres.
Toutes les Tables de Belgique étaient
représentées, saluées par le Grand-Frère
Capitaine National, Beauregard, mais aussi
une belle délégation de Tables de France,
avec notamment trois anciens Capitaines de
la Flotte de France, des Frères et Captives
de Flandre Septentrion…
Un band de flibustiers a soudain débarqué,
armés de guitares. Ils ont entamé une « ode
à Tiendebout » aussitôt rejoints par de
nombreux Frères et Captives. Comme ils en
redemandaient, ce fut sur un air de « enfant
du voyage » habilement revisité par « la
Boulange » dont les paroles ont enchanté
l’assemblée, puis un formidable « port de
Tacoma » a conclu cette envolée.
Une équipe de France, entraînée par
l’Amusette et sa cornemuse (qui est
d’ailleurs une amusette) ont chanté à leur
tour, pour le plus grand plaisir de tous.
Ensemble vocal dirigé par Civadière, avec
Ventre-à-Terre et Ajut aux basses, et
captives à l'unisson.
Vous aurez deviné que de nombreux
OrsaaAAA retentissants ont animé le
repas… jusqu’au dessert.
Discours, échanges de cadeaux, une
ambiance du Tonnerre de Zeus !
Le point d’orgue fut bien évidemment,
l’arrivée du gâteau, dont les Grand-Frères
de Bruxelles, vivants et présents, dans un
merveilleux élan décoiffant ont soufflé les
60 bougies. Ils étaient assistés dans cette
tâche par leurs Scribes.
Ensuite une partie du Club House a été le
théâtre d’un bal où l’on a vu trotter de
nombreux équipages.
Encore merci à tous ceux qui ont pu se
libérer pour participer et donner de leur
temps pour faire de cette soirée un bon

moment de fraternité autour d’un
événement dont nous sommes repartis les
coeurs pleins de rencontres, d’histoires, de
lumières et de… Fraternité.

Thursday evening they went to an exciting
show called the Wyld and Friday evening
visited one of several outdoor Christmas
Markets at the Charlottenburg Palace. On
Saturday Scott and Michele were fortunate
enough to receive a private tour of Berlin
and Potsdam with Heinz & Brigitte Scheel
in their car. Heinz missed his calling as a
tour guide as he knows so much about his
country, including Berlin.
Especially
memorable were seeing the remnants of the
Berlin Wall as well as Checkpoint Charlie.
After lunch Brother Jay Howard, who has
hung out (literally!) on many NY
landmarks, took everyone on an impromptu
tour of Grand Central Terminal. As luck
would have it, Budweiser was promoting a
new product and we were treated to free
drinks and a break dancing show - but the
highlight was watching Robert Coles jump
into a pit filled with balls! Priceless! Only
in NY!
At the Annapolis Table two new Brothers,
Steve Reeves and Peter Dula, were inducted
aboard the Norwegian S/V Statsraad
Lehmkuhl while she was visiting Baltimore
Harbor in November. Thanks to Brothers
Marcus & David Seidel of the Bergen
Table, Kaptain & First Mate of the boat, for
allowing the International Induction
Ceremony aboard the Lehmkuhl. It was an
honor to be aboard.
The Goose Fair Zaf took place on Saturday
evening at the Potsdamer Yacht Club. It
was a wonderful Brotherhood gathering and
a perfect grand finale to such a great Zaf.

National Captain Scott Ripley and Captive
Michele celebrated the 10th Anniversary of
the Berlin-Potsdam Table in December at
Berlin’s Goose Fair at Christmas. The City
of Berlin goes all out with Christmas
decorations and lights as far as the eye
could see; they could feel the holiday
excitement from everyone as they strolled
along the city streets - a fabulous

The NY Table had their annual Christmas
Party hosted by Ina Fine, our “hostess with
the mostest”. In addition to the NY
Brothers, National Captain Scott Ripley and
Captive Michelle were in NY returning
from the Berlin Goose Fair and attended as
well. As usual a great time was had by all
with many “Orzas!!” powered by copious
amounts of rum. Kudos to Ina for once
again providing a wonderful dinner. Ina,
barely off the plane from the Goose Fair,
pulled off her usual organizational skills
and culinary prowess for a memorable
holiday Zaf.
Late December, the NY Table received a
call from Gary and Captive Helene
Buckingham from the Guernsey Table, who
were on the last leg of their 2½ year, 18,000
mile journey through Australia, New
Zealand, Fiji, and North America. Before
ending their trip with a cruise on the Queen
Mary to Southampton, the NY Brothers
held a “Flash ZAF” on New Year's Day,
hosted by Robert Coles and Captive
Kathleen, to welcome the New Year, meet
Gary and Helene and send them off to
home with a Brotherly hug. We had a
wonderful time getting to know this
peripatetic couple. Kudos to Robert and
Kathleen for putting together a memorable
holiday dinner on short notice – a fitting
way for Brothers to start the New Year!
In February the NY Table received a call
from Marcos Apablaza, Facineroso Brother
of the Nao Penco, Chile. Once again the
call went out for a “Crash Zaf” and many
Brothers and Captives responded gladly to
meet another traveling Brother. We lunched
at a restaurant in mid-town Manhattan and
swapped stories about Chile and New York.

Lake area, There are several beds available
for those attending.
The fun starts on Friday night June 10 with
a kickoff Zaf on beautiful Clear Lake at
6pm. Pizza, snacks and drinks on the Pier,
then boarding boats for a trip to Galveston
Bay for a spectacular firework display on
the water. We will be part of a 250+ boat
armada to view the show.
Saturday morning is open – a variety of
activities are available, such as a visit to
NASA’s Johnson Space Center, complete
with the 747 shuttle transporter and a Space
Shuttle. Then we board boats for a
Galveston Bay boat ride with a raft up for
lunch, followed by shopping in Kemah and
walking the Boardwalk. Later that
afternoon we depart for an afternoon and

evening of fun with Barbecue, drinks,
swimming and dancing and plenty of
Orza’s.
Sunday morning enjoy a waterfront sendoff breakfast at the Brother Ellors home.

los costos, quedará finalizado no más allá
del día 31 de julio del corriente año, por lo
que procederemos a enviárselo para su
conocimiento, fijando en el mismo, fecha

Al promediar el zafarrancho, se interrumpe
el mismo, con la entrada tumultuosa de dos
oficiales de la Nao, trayendo encadenado a
un polizón, con la intención de mezclarse
en la tripulación. Esto termina con la
inmensa satisfacción del enganche del
Hermano Chardin Vizioli Omar Enrique
“ASTERIX”.

En esta histórica Nao, ocurrió el mismo
hecho, un feroz polizonte fue descubierto
entre los tripulantes, fue encadenado y
terminó presentado ante el Capitán de la
Nao, quien lo enganchó inmediatamente
puesto que el acusado demostró tener
suficientes méritos para pertenecer a la
Hermandad.

El primer viernes de Marzo y en un nutrido
y alegre Zafarrancho, la poderosa Nao
Victoria procedió a su Cambio de Guardia,
donde el Capitán Cesar ALEMAN Urban
entrega
el mando de su excelente
singladura de 2 años, al flamante Capitán
Daniel PLASTIQUE Arribas, quien con
todo entusiasmo desclava la espada y
recibe los atributos del mando de la nave
con más de 30 hermanos y varios
Bichicumas. La ceremonia fue presenciada
y testimoniada por el Capitán Nacional de
la Hermandad de la Costa Argentina Hno.
Néstor CACHAFAZ Dusetti, quien entregó
la condecoración de estrella de oro al
Capitán saliente por su abnegada tarea y al
mismo tiempo deseó al nuevo Capitán,
vientos francos y mano firme para timonear
una nao con tripulación numerosa. En
fraternal ceremonia ambos capitanes
recibieron varios regalos de sus hermanos
tripulantes.

The table has
monthly
meetings,
some of them
thematic
boucans,
basically
historical and important facts either nautical
or cultural. We meet at the Maritime
Museum celebrating the 600 years of the
Conqueror of Ceuta, which marks the
starting point of the Portuguese maritime
expansion and nautical adventures around
the world. More recently themes were
around World War I and classic yachts,
having the possibility to learn about the
Class J boats and in particular about the
famous Endeavour actually based in
Cascais near by Lisbon.

continuous

our Table. Two new “Grumetes” (Engagé,
Muchacho, Aspirant) were accepted.
If their services and merits are found
adequate, they might become new Brothers
in the future. They paid attention to the
reading of the Rules of the Brotherhood and
they swore the Octalog.
A Change of Command occurred in May
2015 and the National Captain is now João
Ramos “Creoulo” after receiving from
Pedro Pinto Correia “Chavelho”.
By the end of 2015
we lost Brother
“Pua”, our Scribe,
who raised anchor
and left sailing the
calm
seas
of
Eternity. It was a
great loss in our
Brotherhood, for his friendship, personality,
joy, presence and as a sailor.

could join

abroad and
invited for the Zafarrancho by the Table of
Dusseldorf, for the traditional occasion of
the Boat Show in January, the famous
BOOT. Some of our Brothers are engaged
in Sail training activities and tall ships and
there was an informal meeting in Quebec
City, Canada, between the Portuguese and
the Norwegian tables. In the picture above
we see Haakon Vatle, Pedro Mendes “Papa
Cabos” and Marcus Seidl “Shantyman”.

After New Year’s noise the newly elected
Board of Seven joined forces and started
intense work as of early January. Our first
several gatherings have been dominated by
all topic related to 50-th Anniversary
Zafarrancho of the Polish Brotherhood. As
this is a very round anniversary we will
make sure this event stays in the memory of
all the Brothers, our great guests, overseas
Brothers, VIPs associated with Polish sea
and sailing and representatives of local
authorities. Be ready for the most exciting
event for at least next 50 years ! :)

Costanera Center, almuerzo, zafarrancho y
traslados pagarán $ 60.000 doblones y
$55.000 las cautivas. Los que solamente
asistan al zafarrancho desembolsarán
$30.000 doblones y $25.000 las cautivas.
Todas las tripulaciones de nuestro litoral y
de naos extranjeras están invitadas a
participar en este zafarrancho de
aniversario.
Viernes 1 de abril, a partir de las 20 horas,
en la guarida de la Nao Santiago, habrá un
abundante cóctel de bienvenida, con fiesta
de abrazos y entrega de regalos. Tenida
informal con pañoleta, cautivas y polizones.
Sábado 2 de abril, a las 11:00 horas, nos
juntaremos en la guarida para navegar en
buses hasta la torre Costanera Center y
visitar el Sky Costanera, el edificio más
alto de Sudamérica, con una vista
panorámica de 360° de Santiago. Está
coordinado para que ese día no exista
nubosidad sobre la ciudad. Posteriormente
asistiremos a un fraternal y marinero
almuerzo en las cubiertas del Caleuche y en
la tarde libre las cautivas podrán recorrer
los mall y vaciar los bolsillos de los piratas.
Habrá movilización en buses privados
desde el Costanera Center hasta el
Caleuche. Tenida informal con pañoleta,
cautivas y polizones. El mismo día sábado,
a las 20:00 horas, saldrán desde la guarida
de la Nao los buses hacia la Estación Naval
Metropolitana, en la Quinta Normal, donde
se realizará el Zafarrancho de Aniversario
de los 65 años de la Nao Santiago y de la
Hermandad de la Costa de Chile y del
Mundo. El evento será en rigurosa tenida de
combate. Habrá un picoteo previo por todas
las cubiertas y desde el fogón surgirán los
