ADVENT RELFECTION
Love and He will draw near; love, and he will dwell within you
[Our Lady of Guadalupe and ‘the prophecy of an embrace’ Mary’s ...]
Yet already we have the firstfruits of the Spirit, and have we not also other reasons for rejoicing? For we are drawing near to the one we love, and not only are we drawing near—we even
have some slight feeling and taste of the banquet we shall one day eagerly eat and drink.
But how can we rejoice in the Lord if he is far from us? Pray God he may not be far. If he is,
that is your doing. Love, and he will draw near; love, and he will dwell within you. The Lord is at
hand; have no anxiety. Are you puzzled to know how it is that he will be with you if you love? God
is
love.”
(Saint
Augustine)
These words of St Augustine summarize the spirit of the Advent season. The Lord is near if
we love, and the best model to emulate if our Blessed Mother, the main figure of Advent in her
loving expectation of the new born Christ. Advent is a season to love, and to experience the love of
Christ in our hearts.
JOIN US FOR THE NOVENA IN HONOR OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
December 3, through 12 Rosary at 6:30 p.m., novena prayer, and Mass (Spanish)
“Renovari spiritu mentis vestrae et induere novum hominem.” (Eph 4, 23-24)
