¡Felicidades a los Graduados!
In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Lectionary’s Year of
Luke presents a Gospel in which Jesus, who has welcomed, taught, healed, and shown God’s mercy to the
multitude, refuses the Twelve’s demand to dismiss the
crowd before him. Instead, he says, “Give them some
food yourselves” (Luke 9:13). In Jesus’ hands, what
little the Twelve has feeds five thousand (“men,” and
probably as many women and children), leaving twelve
baskets so the Twelve can continue Jesus’ ministry of
mercy. Pope Francis has asked how we celebrate and
live the Eucharist. Do we keep it to ourselves? Or do
we “commune” not only with Jesus but with the multitude whom Jesus has given us to cherish? Entrusted to
Jesus and shared with others, our limited resources can
go a long way. Recognizing Jesus in the Eucharist demands that we recognize Jesus also in the hungry
crowd. Adoring Jesus present in the Eucharist requires
that we serve Jesus present in our neighbor.

En este Año Jubilar de la Misericordia coincide con la
lectura dominical del Evangelio de Lucas, este domingo
el Evangelio presenta a Jesús recibiendo, enseñando,
sanando y mostrando la misericordia de Dios a la multitud y, también rechazando la solicitud de los Doce de
despedir a la multitud. Al contrario, él dice “denles ustedes de comer” (Lucas 9:13). En las manos de Jesús, lo
poco que tienen los Doce alimenta a cinco mil hombres
(sin contar mujeres ni niños) y lo con lo que sobró se
llenaron doce canastos para que los Doce pudieran continuar el ministerio de misericordia de Jesús. El Papa
Francisco nos ha preguntado cómo nosotros podemos
celebrar y vivir la Eucaristía. ¿Nos lo guardamos para
nosotros mismos? ¿O “comulgamos” no solo con Jesús
sino con la multitud que Jesús nos da para apreciar?
Confiados a Jesús y compartidos con otros, nuestros
recursos pueden durar mucho tiempo.
Reconocer a Jesús en la Eucaristía exige que reconozcamos a Jesús en la
multitud hambrienta. Adorar a Jesús
en la Eucaristía requiere que sirvamos
a Jesús presente en nuestro prójimo.

otice the importance of blessing or thanking
God that we hear in today's readings. We all
need an attitude of gratitude for God's
providence. Gratitude must be expressed by feeding
others with the living presence of Christ that we
receive in Communion and adore in the Blessed
Sacrament. Like Jesus, we must take what we have,
give God thanks, and share our very selves with
others in the name of Jesus.
l día de hoy escuchamos sobre la importancia
de darle gracias y de alabar a Dios. Todos
necesitamos una actitud de agradecer la
providencia de Dios. El agradecimiento se debe de
expresar alimentando a los demás con la presencia
viva de Cristo, puesto que lo recibimos en la
Comunión y en la Adoración al Santísimo
Sacramento. Como Jesús, debemos de llevar lo
que tenemos, darle gracias a Dios y compartir
con los demás en el nombre de Jesús.
Reflect on the gifts God has given you. Thank
God for them. Use them to feed others with the
presence of the Christ, in remembrance of him.
That is one way we give praise to Christ, and
proclaim the death of the Lord with the food of
our lives.

dado. Dale gracias a Dios por sus regalos. Úsalo

Marco is currently Administrator Pro Tempore in St. Kateri Tekakwitha. His assignment there ends on June 30th. Let us pray so
that the Holy Spirit may guide Fr. Marco and
our parish .

It has been about five years since we had our Family
Forum (Town Hall Meeting). We looked at the needs
of our Parish Family at that time and reported the
results voiced and the process in what was being
done. We have noticed that there are new concerns,
and needs that can be addressed. We would like to
hold another set of meetings in October to share our
thoughts on issues that matter to you and the community. Let’s work together for a better and stronger

En memoria de Juan Esteban Baeza
3 Agosto 1944 - 7 de Mayo 2016
Juan E. Baeza was a parishioner of St.
Agatha. He will always say he is “keeping
an eye” on the Church as security. Daily he
would pass by the church and attend mass frequently.
For the last 2 years he carried a cane, not because he
needed one, but because it was the only way to carry
something that belonged to his wife Rita, who he now
joins in Heaven. Let us give thanks to God once again
for the great parishioners He has given us. Juan Baeza
was a devotee of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Juan E. Baeza era un feligrés de Santa Águeda. Él siempre decía que le “tenía un ojo” a la
iglesia para cuidarla y que todo vaya bien.
Seguido pasaba por la iglesia y venía a misa frecuentemente. Por los últimos 2 años llevaba un bastón, no
porque lo necesitaba, pero porque era la única manera
de llevar algo que le pertenecía a su esposa Rita, con
quien ahora está en la Gloria. Démosle gracias a Dios
por las bendiciones que nos ha dado por nuestros feligreses. Juan era devoto a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

We repeatedly hear from parishioners that they would appreciate going off-site for retreat day experiences, so we offer the following
information. This is an early look at a New Year Retreat Day that will be held offsite. It is never too early to be prepared!
The New Years Retreat Day takes place at Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino on Saturday January 7; the title: Called to be Benedictions of Grace will be facilitated by parishioner Josephine Broehm. The cost is $35 without lunch and $45 with lunch. If we know in
time, we can organize carpools. We hope this gives you ample opportunity to plane and save for this retreat opportunity. To RSVP,
please notify the office so we know how many carpools we will need. If you are will to drive, let us know as well. Retreat questions can
