Parents must be registered in the parish, practicing the Catholic faith and attend a baptismal preparation class. These classes are held monthly. Confirmation Confirmation takes place in the tenth grade with preparation during the 9th and 10th grades. Teens are prepared by attending Faith Formation classes, participating in one retreat a year and by doing works of service within and outside the parish. Marriage Preparation Arrangements for the celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage are to be made at least six months before an anticipated wedding date. Please contact Fr. Juan at ext. 12. Anointing of the Sick / Communion to the Sick or Homebound In the event of serious illness, death, or other sacramental emergency, please call the parish office for instructions. After hours contact information is available via recorded message on our main office number. Specially trained Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are available to bring Communion to those who are sick or homebound. Please call the parish office to arrange. Faith Formation Our Faith Formation program is dedicated to providing quality programs that meet the needs of all our parishioners. From preschool to adults, we offer catechetical instruction that is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Scriptures and Church Tradition. Please contact the Faith Formation office, ext. 33, for more information. Additional detailed information is available on the parish website. First Reconciliation / Communion First Communion / Reconciliation typically takes place in second grade with the preparation beginning in first grade. Preparation includes meetings and workshops for parents and working with children at home with materials provided by the Faith Formation department. Faith Formation Kick-Off Registration for 2013-2014 Faith Formation Staff will be available in the Social Hall on Sunday, April 28th, from 9 am to 3 pm to assist you with registration for classes and sacraments for the 2013-2014 school year. Forms will be available on-line by Friday, April 26th, if you would like to print, complete and bring them with you. Eucharistic Congress 2013: Mary and the Year of Faith: “Do Whatever He Tells You”. The Eucharistic Congress comes early this year to the Georgia International Convention Center Friday, May 31st – Saturday, June 1st. Please prayerfully consider giving time as a volunteer. Your generosity will be much appreciated. Volunteer registration closes as of April 30th, so that plans may be made according to the number of volunteers committed at that time. Gregory will be celebrating the Second Annual Memorial Mass for all babies whose life was ended way too soon as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death within the first few months of life. A reception will follow the Mass. Eucharistic Congress – May 31st – June 1st – Mark your calendars now for this great Catholic FREE event that is perfect for the entire family. A bus will be leaving St. Brendan’s at 7:00 am (arrive by 6:45 am) on Saturday, June 1, and will return to St. Brendan’s about 8:00 pm after the closing Vigil Mass. Calling Confirmed Teens with a Heart for Haiti There are two or three available spots for the June- 2013 HaitiReach Teen Delegation. This will be a 5 or 6 day trip to Basin Zim, Haiti. Readings for the Week of April 21, 2013 The American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held next Sunday, April 28, 2013, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Spiritual Life Center. We sincerely appreciate anyone who is able to donate blood to support patients in need. A signup sheet is available at the welcome desk in the Narthex. Please sign up to eliminate wait times, as more staff will be on-site. Many lives have been saved by the gift that you give in donating blood. “Fill the Crib” for Mother’s Day Collection on April 26/27 and May 4/5 - During the month of May, while we celebrate Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and those women who provide care and love for us here on earth, the Respect Life Ministry would like to support mothers who are currently being helped by service agencies in Forsyth County - Whispering Hope (a Christian Women's Resource and Pregnancy Center) and Forsyth Family Haven (A domestic violence shelter). Items being collected can be placed in the crib in the Narthex. Requested items include: diapers, wipes, bottles, baby items, new and slightly used clothing and shoes of all sizes (adults/children), pillows, blankets, towels, washcloths, new hair and personal hygiene products, toilet paper, tissues, cleaning supplies, and trash bags.
