The Navigator El Navegante We welcome all to join us in being like Jesus Christ to our world. Damos la bienvenida a todos a unirse a nosotros en ser como Jesucristo a nuestro mundo. Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 29, 2013 October is Respect Life Month We have some great opportunities for individuals and families to spread the word about the sanctity of human life. Sunday, October 6, is "Respect Life Sunday" and Life Chain. Life Chain is a nationwide campaign during which pro-life advocates line roadsides, hold signs and pray to end abortion. The 2013 "Life Chain" will be held from 2PM 3:30PM, and participants are asked to meet at South Forsyth HS at 2PM to be given a sign. Handmade signs are not permitted by the National Life Chain organization. The location for the Life Chain in Cumming will be along 141 by Ronald Reagan Blvd. For more information, contact Ann LeClair-Ash at [email protected]. Don’t miss our Exciting Respect Life “One Day Mission” on Friday, October 11th right after the 6 PM Mass- starting at 6:45 in the Church. Following the dynamic talk- we will gather for questions and answers, refreshments and fun in the Social Hall. Son of NFL Hall of Fame great- Dick “Night Train” Lane--"Evangelist Richard Lane is a dynamic, spirit-filled preacher and teacher who is incredibly gifted by the Holy Spirit. Richard has an evangelical, charismatic love for the Catholic faith and his powerful, heartfelt, and very motivating presentations will stimulate your mind and penetrate your heart. The "40 Days for Life" Fall Campaign officially begins September 25 and runs through November 3, 2013. During this time, people of all denominations who are pro-life pray at abortion clinics in the area. The clinic that we are assigned to is Planned Parenthood in Lawrenceville. We need people to pray at these clinics and hold signs that are respectful and dignified. In greatest need are people to participate on Thursdays from 10AM - 6PM and the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 9AM - 1PM. Please sign up, and we can carpool together, at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090A48A8A92AA4640days Password (lower case): stopabortion. For more information, contact Ann LeClair-Ash at [email protected]. Please stop by the Respect Life table in the Narthex next weekend to pick up additional information. St. Brendan the Navigator Rev. This special opportunity to avoid tax and make a gift to St. Brendan’s or to some other Archdiocesan Foundation fund will expire at the end of December 2013. If you would like more information on this, and other Foundation funds please contact our Endowment Fund coordinator Kim Martiny, at 678-771-5322 or Diane Duquette, Director of Gift Planning at the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia, at 404-497-9440. Take a look at the recently placed new signs at each entrance to the parish grounds to see an example of what the replacement signs might look like. We are seeking donations for the following: Speed limit, No parking, Pedestrian Crossing signs- $80 each Directional signage-$120 each Welcome sign-$90 Building identification signs-$190 Please prayerfully consider sponsoring a sign for St. Brendan's campus. A big THANK YOU to all the many ministry representatives and parishioners who helped make last weekend’s Ministry Carnival the best ever! We had an extraordinary array of food items, many with an international flavor. Our silent auction baskets were in high demand, and the proceeds will help fund those ministries throughout the coming year. The best part of the day was certainly the welcoming spirit that is such a big part of who we are at St. Brendan’s. From young to old, all our parishioners looked as if they were proud to call St. Brendan’s their home. Our job is to use these gifts wisely, always sharing generously to build up God’s Kingdom. As a parish family, we take time to celebrate together our faith and discern how to put our gifts into service for one another and for those in need. This is an exciting opportunity to grow in faith and to express that faith in action.
