NEW VISION
Jesus proclaimed that he came into the world to make the
sightless see and the seeing blind. A difficult saying! But surely it
must mean that Jesus intended to take our ordinary ways of
looking at things and turn them inside out. Jesus came to change
our perspective.
When the prophet Samuel went out to select the new king, he
chose a young man who had the look of royalty about him. But
God told him not to judge by appearances. God told Samuel—and
today tells us—to change our perspective and to look at things
and people differently.
We are like the Ephesians, whom Paul urged to live as
children of the light. With the light of faith, we have a new way of
looking at things, and we are called to bring that new vision to the
world around us. This is a great vocation, a calling to wake people
up to what‘s really important.

NUEVA VISIÓN
Jesús proclamó que él vino al mundo para que los ciegos vean, y los que ven queden ciegos. ¡Algo difícil de
aceptar! Pero seguramente deberá significar que Jesús quería cambiar radicalmente nuestra manera de ver las cosas.
Jesús vino a cambiar nuestra perspectiva.
Cuando el profeta Samuel salió a seleccionar un nuevo rey, escogió a un joven que tenía las apariencias de rey.
Pero Dios le dijo que no juzgara por las apariencias. Dios le dijo a Samuel, y a nosotros hoy, que cambiemos nuestra
perspectiva y miremos a las cosas y a las personas de manera diferente.
Somos como los Efesios, a quien Pablo pidió que vivieran como hijos de la luz. Con la luz de la fe, tenemos una
nueva manera de ver las cosas y se nos pide que llevemos esa nueva visión al mundo a nuestro alrededor. Esta es una
gran vocación, una llamada a despertar a la gente a lo que realmente es importante.

Chúa Giêsu tuyên bố rằng Người đến trong thế gian là để làm cho người mù được xem thấy và kẻ xem
thấy ra mù quáng. Lời nói thật khó hiểu ! Nhưng chắc chắn nó đã mang ý nghĩa rằng Chúa Giêsu có ý dùng
cách thức nhìn sự vật cách thông thường của chúng ta và đảo lộn nó từ trong ra ngoài. Chúa Giêsu đã đến
để thay đổi lối nhìn của chúng ta.
Khi Tiên tri Samuel đi ra ngoài để lựa chọn vị vua mới, ông đã chọn một thanh niên trẻ tuổi, người có
dáng mạo của một vương giả. Nhưng Đức Chúa đã bảo ông không được xét đoán vẻ bề ngoài. Đức Chúa
bảo ông Samuel - cũng như bảo chúng ta hôm nay - hãy thay đổi lối nhìn của chúng ta và nhìn vào sự vật
cũng như con người một cách khác hơn.
Chúng ta cũng giống như giáo hữu Ephêsô, đã được Thánh Phaolô khẩn thiết kêu gọi hãy sống như
con cái của ánh sáng. Với ánh sáng đức tin, chúng ta có đường lối mới để nhìn sự vật, và chúng ta được
kêu gọi để đem lối nhìn mới ấy vào thế giới xung quanh chúng ta. Đây quả là ơn gọi lớn lao, ơn gọi để thức
tỉnh mọi người hướng về những gì thực sự là quan trọng.

The Emmaus Mass—Welcome all God’s Children
The Emmaus Mass welcomes everyone to celebrate the
Eucharist and God's love for all! The Pastoral Resource
Committee of the Diocese of San Jose sponsors the Emmaus
Mass to help meet the spiritual needs of gay and lesbian
Catholics, their family and friends. For those who have a
home parish, the monthly celebrations of the Eucharist at
Emmaus can be special times to spend with others from
throughout the Diocese. For those who have grown away
from the Church, the Emmaus Mass could be their doorway
back into the community of faith and the gift of God's incredible Grace.
Priests from the Diocese of San Jose as well as from the
Jesuit Community of Santa Clara preside at this Mass. It is
held on the first Saturday of each month at 6:30pm in the
Chapel at St. Martin of Tours, 300 O‘Connor Drive, San

“Home Mission”
Strengthening The Church At Home.
What is a ―Home Mission‖ Diocese?
Home mission diocese are located across the United
States, in places like the Deep South, Appalachia, and
the Rocky Mountains. These dioceses lack the resources to provide their faithful whit basic pastoral
care, including the sacraments, religious education, and
ministry training. Home mission dioceses often struggle with priest shortages, parishioners poverty, unemployment, difficult and isolated terrain, religious hospitality, and other circumstances that make it difficult to
practice the faith. The Catholic Home Mission Appeal
strengthens the Church here at home by providing
yearly grants to nearly 45 percent of all U.S. dioceses.

St. Peter Calungsod as he is also
known was a young Filipino migrant, sacristan and missionary
catechist who along with Spanish
Jesuit missionary, Diego Luis San
Vitores preached Christianity to
Chamorro people in Guam in 1672.
Both suffered religious persecution
and martyrdom for their missionary
work and died. Pedro Calungsod
was beatified on March 5, 2000 at
St. Peter‘s Basilica by Pope John
Paul II and canonized on October
21, 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI

Children understand fairness from early age. Unfairness leads to resettlements and frustration. Children will understand and
learn faster if you are fair.
Learn to use appropriate
methods, such as ―time
out‖ and revoking privileges.
 Discipline must be clear.
Always explain the reason
for the disciplinary action
and how it will be applied
in the future. After the discipline is completed, gently
ask if the child understand
which negative behavior
brought on the discipline,
and what the preferred
positive behavior is which
will allow them to avoid
being discipline in the future.

Prayer Service for Victims of Crime
April 6, 3:00pm –4:00pm
Our lady of Guadalupe Church

In observance of National Crime Victims' Week which is April 6-12, 2014,
the Restorative Justice office of the
Diocese of San Jose will hold a prayer
service in honor of all victims of violence and all family members and
friends who have been impacted by
violence in any way. A reception and
hospitality will be provided after the
service. All are invited to pray with us
and to pray for this suffering part of
our community.
Celebrating the Triduum
All Mass ministers are asked to
attend ‗Celebrating the Triduum‘ ,
a workshop to help us make our
Easter celebration vibrant and reverent. It will be on Tue. April 1,
2014 from 7 pm to 9 pm. in our
hall. We will pray together, discuss topics in our own languages,
and share ideas to improve our

* Chương trình Cháo và Thánh Kinh: Vào tối Thứ Năm. Đây là cơ
hội để họp mặt Mùa Chay trong bữa ăn đạm bạc, sau đó sẽ chia nhóm
theo ngôn ngữ để chia sẻ cảm nghiệm về bài Sách Thánh sẽ đọc trong
tuần tới. Chúng tôi hy vọng mọi người hưởng ứng để mùa Chay thêm
ý nghĩa.
* Ngắm Đứng : Công Đoàn Việt Nam sẽ ngắm đứng 15 Sự Thương
Khó Đức Chúa Giêsu, và Dâng Hạt. Vào Thứ Sáu Tuần Thánh, lúc
12:00 giờ trưa Thư Sáu. Chương trình ngắm nguyện theo văn hoá cổ
truyền Việt Nam với cung điệu Mùa Thương Khó để giúp tăng thêm
lòng mộ mến Chúa. Kính mời quí vị ghi danh tham gia ngắm, và tham

DỊCH VỤ CỨU TRỢ CÔNG GIÁO
Biểu lộ tình liên đới, nâng đỡ việc quyên góp cho "Dịch vụ Cứu trợ
Công Giáo"Ngày 29+30-3-2014. Ngân khoản quyên góp này sẽ ảnh
hưởng tích cực đến cuộc sống của hàng trăm triệu người trong nước
Mỹ cũng như khắp nơi, đặc biệt các gia đình bị ảnh hưởng bởi bách
hại, chiến tranh, và tai hoạ. Năm nay, khẩu hiệu của chiến dịch quyên

Cử Hành Tam Nhật Thánh
Tất cả thừa tác viên Thánh Lễ được mời tham dự học hỏi về "nghi
thức cử hành Tam Nhật Thánh", để giúp chuẩn bị mừng Lễ Phục Sinh
được tôn kính và cảm động. Buổi học sẽ từ 7pm đến 9 pm Thứ Ba
ngày 1-4-2014, tại hội trường. Buổi học hỏi sẽ gồm cầu nguyện, chia
sẻ ý kiến bằng ngôn ngữ riêng, góp ý xây dựng. Kính mời quí vị tham

Reflexionemos sobre la Palabra de Dios
La mayoría de nosotros podemos recordar momentos en que hemos
estado ―en tinieblas‖ y ocasiones en que hemos llevado esas tinieblas
en nuestro corazón, así como esos otros momentos en que nos hemos
sentido iluminados con una visión clara. Pero algo muy diferente es
llegar a ser identificados personalmente con las tinieblas o con la luz.
Las primeras palabras de la lectura de hoy de la carta a los efesios se
destacan por su audacia: ―En otro tiempo eran tinieblas, pero ahora son
luz en el Señor‖ (Efesios 5:8).
Podemos atisbar lo que significa ser luz en el Señor tanto por Samuel,
que por fin ve como Dios ve, como por el comportamiento valiente del
ciego de nacimiento una vez que Jesús lo sanó. Samuel unge a David,
el gran rey de Israel, y el ciego de nacimiento llega a tener fe en que
Jesús es el Señor.
El ciego de nacimiento es una de esas figuras fuertes que encontramos
en el Evangelio según san Juan. Tal como con la mujer junto al pozo
tampoco conocemos el nombre de este hombre, pero sí llegamos a
conocer su corazón. Sus palabras son francas, ya sea al dirigirse a sus
vecinos, a los fariseos o al mismo Jesús. Se puede escuchar el inicio
gradual de la fe cuando él contesta las preguntas de los que le rodean,
desde que dice ―extendió un poco de lodo sobre mis ojos, me lavé y
ahora veo‖ hasta llegar a decir que ―es un profeta,‖ y después su
respuesta a Jesús cuando le pregunta si tiene fe en el Hijo del hombre
que tiene ante él: ―Creo, Señor‖ (Juan 9:15, 17, 38).
En el principio Dios habló y ésas sus primeras palabras nunca han
dejado de hacer lo que dijeron: ―Que exista la luz‖ (Génesis 1:3).

Cảm Nghiệm Lời Chúa
Most of us can recognize times when we are ―in the dark‖
and occasions when we carry darkness in our hearts, just as
there are moments when we feel enlightened and find that
our vision is clear. It is quite another thing to become identified with darkness or with light. The first words of today‘s
reading from the Letter to the Ephesians stand out for their
boldness: ―You were once darkness, but now you are light in
the Lord‖ (Ephesians 5:8).
We get a glimpse of what it means to be light in the Lord
both from Samuel, who finally sees as God sees, and in the
courageous behavior of the man born blind after Jesus has
healed him. Samuel anoints Israel‘s greatest king, David, and
the man born blind comes to faith in Jesus as Lord.
The man born blind is one of those strong figures found in
John‘s Gospel. Like the woman at the well, we never learn
his name but we come to know his heart. His speech is
straightforward, whether speaking to his neighbors, the
Pharisees, or Jesus. You can hear the gradual dawning of
faith as he responds to those around him, from the simple
―He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see‖
to ―He is a prophet,‖ to his answer to Jesus‘ question about
having faith in the Son of man standing before him, ―I do
believe, Lord‖ (John 9:15, 17, 38).
In the beginning God spoke. Those first words have never
stopped bringing about what they said: ―Let there be
light‖ (Genesis 1:3).

Hầu hết chúng ta có thể nhận ra thời giờ khi chúng ta ở "trong
bóng tối" và trong trường hợp chúng ta mang theo sự tối tăm
trong tâm hồn, giống như những thời khắc chúng ta cảm thấy
được soi sáng và nhìn thấy rõ ràng. Điều hoàn toàn khác nhau
khi nhận thấy bóng tối và ánh sáng. Lời đầu tiên trong thư gửi
tín hữu Ephêsô hôm nay nói lên sự dũng cảm của họ: "Trước
đây anh em ở trong bóng tối, nhưng nay anh em là ánh sáng
của Thiên Chúa".
Chúng ta thoáng nhận ra ý nghĩa của ánh sáng Thiên Chúa là
gì, qua cả hai sự việc: Samuel cuối cùng đã nhìn như Chúa
nhìn, và qua hành động can đảm của người mù sau khi được
Chúa chữa lành. Samuel xức dầu tấn phong vị vua vĩ đại của
Israel là Davit, Người mù từ lúc mới sinh tin rằng Đức Giêsu
là Chúa.
Người mù là một trong những khuôn mặt nổi bật trong Phúc
Âm Gioan, như người phụ nữ tại giếng nước, chúng ta chẳng
bao giờ biết tên ông ta nhưng chúng ta biết được tâm tình ông.
Lời nói của ông ta rất rõ ràng, dù nói với người thân, với người
Pharisiêu hay với Chúa Giêsu. Bạn có thể nghe như bị lôi cuốn
từ từ tới niềm tin như khi ông trả lời người xung quanh: từ lời
đơn sơ "Người bỏ đất sét lên mắt tôi, tôi đi rửa và tôi nhìn
thấy" rồi tới "Người là một tiên tri".Và tới câu trả lời Chúa
Giêsu hỏi ông có tin người đang đứng trước mặt ông không:
"Lạy Chúa, con có tin".
Ngay từ khởi đầu Thiên Chúa phán, những lời đầu tiên này
không ngừng mang lại những gì lời ấy diễn tả: "Hãy có ánh
sáng"
