The primary considerations in placement decisions are a balance of
educational, academic and social factors. We also try to balance
classrooms by gender, achievement levels, and special education
needs as well as behavior characteristics and learning styles. The
final placement decision will be made after carefully considering
ALL information.
Requests for a child NOT to be placed with another student should
be stated below. Please be aware that other considerations may
be present that would prevent us from honoring such a request.
Families will be notified of classroom placements the last week in
August. Placements will be considered final at the time.

Occasionally Peeved in the Parking Lot? Here Are Some
Windshield Words of Wisdom…
Today’s Topic: Parent Pick-Up
If you routinely drive and pick up your students from school each afternoon, I want to thank you
for your patience and your constructive feedback about how our line of cars moves (or doesn’t) in
the afternoons. Here are a few clarifications so everyone knows the same set of expectations…
Who Is Allowed In The Parking Lot First Each Afternoon? The
Buses Or Parent Drivers?
Our school buses are on a very tight schedule from school to school, so they MUST be
allowed in our parking lot when they arrive. This may mean that cars with the
unfortunate timing of blocking the entrance to the parking lot will have to move
elsewhere—maybe consider parking at the top of Masa Lane and walking down the
stairs. Too frequently, either a bus driver or I need to direct traffic on Masa Lane’s hill.
Bottom line, buses have the priority to enter our parking lot first. After all six buses
are in, cars can start entering the parking lot. HOWEVER…
If I’m Going To Park My Car Anyway, Can I Park In The Staff
(front) Parking Lot? Better Yet, Can I Just Cut Through?
Unfortunately, NO. The staff parking lot up front is for either staff members or district
personnel who are often visiting our school for after-school meetings. THE STAFF
PARKING LOT IS ALSO NOT A SHORTCUT INTO THE MAIN PARKING LOT. We
have had several parents show no consideration for the long line of cars patiently waiting
and try to drive right through the staff lot. This is not only inconsiderate, but is not fair to
the parents following the rules. You will be asked to turn around, go to the end of the
line, and return to the parking lot when it is your turn. THE STAFF PARKING LOT
ALSO SERVES AS OUR SCHOOL BUS EXIT. Remember, buses are on a tight
schedule. That driveway cannot be blocked by cars backing out or driving in the wrong
direction. Speaking of the wrong direction…
Why Is There Only One Line Of Traffic In And Out?
Again, I apologize for our parking lot design. Neither our staff nor I designed it.
However…just like in any other lane of traffic…please only drive on the right side and
approach our roundabout from the right. We have had several near head-on
collisions because of impatient drivers swerving out and driving in the wrong lane.
Can Local Law Enforcement Officials Write Tickets For Unsafe
Parking Lot Behavior?
That answer is yes, and please don’t be alarmed to see police officers more frequently
in our parking lot. As I have informed them, there are often drivers ignoring students
holding up STOP signs, using cell phones, and utilizing inappropriate voice levels or
gestures with our students and staff members. Our main objection…above anything
else…is to keep our Spring Mountain students and families safe in our tricky parking lot.
As a parent of elementary school children myself, I understand the many challenges we all face
trying to beat that tardy bell each morning and getting them to after-school activities each
afternoon on time! Thank you so much for your patience and understanding by following the
signals of our students and staff. As parents, please remember that you are the role model of
courtesy and respect in these situations.

Dear 5th grade Parent/Guardian:
May 11, 2016 We are excited about your child star ng middle school this coming fall. Our goal is to ensure that each student is provided the highest quality educa on possible in a safe and suppor ve learning environment. Each student is valued and deserves our best effort. This le er is to inform you about mathema cs placement op ons in North Clackamas middle schools. Our aim is for each student to be enrolled in the appropriate course. The grade level standards focus on developing the cri cal thinking, problem solving and analy cal skills students will need to be college and career ready. Historically, 98-­‐99% of 5th grade students begin middle school in Math 6. Math builds on prior knowledge, therefore it is important that students have mastered the required content before moving on to the next level. Because 6th grade math is founda onal to algebra readiness, middle school math accelera on begins in 7th grade. There may be very few students who demonstrate mastery of 6th grade content at the end of 5th grade. Those students will be considered for placement in the “Compacted 7/8" math course star ng their 6th grade year. Mul ple data points will be considered to iden fy which students will have the opportunity to take a challenge exam allowing them to skip the en re sixth grade mathema cs course. Families will be no fied with end of the year report cards if their student is eligible to take the challenge assessment in late August. ALL TREATMENT STEPS MUST BE DONE ON THE SAME DAY.
HOUSE TREATMENT:
1. Vacuum all carpets, floors, mattresses, furniture and the car. Dispose of the vacuum
cleaner bag in the outside trash when finished.
2. Wash ALL clothing and bed linens in HOT water.
3. NON-WASHABLE items should be either: dry cleaned, placed in a HOT clothes dryer for
20 minutes (pillows, stuffed toys, etc.), placed in freezer for 48 hours, or sealed in a
plastic bag for 14 days.
4. Treat ALL brushes and combs by boiling for 10 minutes OR soaking in lice shampoo for
10 minutes.
HAIR TREATMENT:
1. If using commercial lice hair products, treat all affected household members at the SAME
TIME. Before application, wash hair with a basic perfume and conditioner free shampoo.
2. Comb hair thoroughly with a clean comb or brush.
3. Remove ALL NITS with a nit comb, fingernails, or tweezers to prevent REINFESTATION
by any nits not killed by the medications.
4. Notify all people who have recently been in contact with the exposed household member.
5. Contact your physician, health department, or school nurse for further directions
or advice.

Los Piojos Suceden
Los piojos suceden, especialmente en los niños. No son un signo de mala higiene o que tan limpia está su
hogar. Cualquier persona los puede tener - no importa que tan largo es tu cabello o cuánto te bañas.
¿Su hijo tiene piojos en la cabeza? No todo el mundo tiene picazón. Utilice un peine contra liendres sobre el
cabello húmedo y busque piojos del tamaño de una semilla de sésamo o pequeños huevos pegados al pelo.

Chuyện có chí xảy ra, nhất là với trẻ em. Đó không phải là dấu hiệu kém vệ sinh hoặc nhà cửa
có sạch hay không. Người nào cũng có thể có chí – không quan hệ tóc dài bao nhiêu hoặc quý vị
tắm bao nhiêu lần.
Con em quý vị có chí không? Không phải người nào cũng bị ngứa. Hãy xử dụng một chiếc lược
có răng khít để chải tóc ướt và tìm kiếm những con chí nhỏ cỡ hạt mè hoặc trứng nhỏ dính ở tóc.
Quý vị nên kiểm tra định kỳ hằng tuần cho mọi người trong gia đình.
Dưới đây là một số hướng dẫn hữu ích để điều trị chí:
TẤT CẢ NHỮNG GIAI ĐOẠN ĐIỀU TRỊ ĐỀU PHẢI THỰC HÀNH TRONG CÙNG NGÀY

1. Hút bụi tất cả thảm, sàn nhà, nệm giường, bàn ghế và xe. Bỏ bao chứa bụi của máy hút

2. Giặt TẤT CẢ quần áo và tấm trải giường bằng NƯỚC NÓNG.
3. Những đồ vật KHÔNG GIẶT ĐƯỢC nên: được tẩy khô, đặt trong máy xấy quần áo
NÓNG trong 20 phút (áo gối, đồ chơi thú dồn bông, v.v…), bỏ vô tủ đông lạnh trong 48
tiếng đồng hồ hay bỏ trong bao ni lông kín trong 14 ngày.
4. Tẩy sạch TẤT CẢ bàn chải tóc, lược bằng cách bỏ vào nước sôi trong 10 phút HAY
nhúng vào xà bông trị chí trong 10 phút.
TẨY SẠCH TÓC:
1. Nếu dùng sản phẩm thương mại để trị chí, điều trị tất cả những người có chí trong nhà
CÙNG MỘT LÚC. Trước khi áp dụng, gội đầu thật sạch bằng xà bông gội đầu có mùi
thơm tiêu chuẩn và không có chất bảo vệ điều kiện của tóc.
2. Chải đầu thật kỹ bằng lược hay bàn chải tóc.
3. Tước TẤT CẢ TRỨNG CHÍ bằng lược dầy, móng tay hay cái nhíp để tránh không cho
TÁI SINH SẢN bằng trứng chí chưa bị thuốc trừ sạch.
4. Thông báo cho tất cả những người mới đây tiếp xúc với người có chí trong nhà.
5. Liên lạc với bác sĩ gia đình, phòng y tế hay y tá trong trường để được hướng dẫn hay cố
vấn thêm.
