PARISH INFORMATION
BAPTISM: The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at 1:30 PM on the Second Sunday of the month in Spanish and the
Third Sunday of the month in English. Parents need to contact the rectory to set up an appointment to make arrangements
for the baptism of their child and register for the baptismal class which is held the First Tuesday of each month in Spanish
and the Second Tuesday of each month in English. Baptisms in Vietnamese can be arranged by contacting Fr. Vincent.
EL BAUTISMO: El sacramento del Bautismo es celebrado a la 1:30 PM cada Segundo domingo del mes en español y
cada tercer domingo del mes en Inglés. Los padres del niño/a deben pedir una cita con la rectoría para ponerse de acuerdo
con requisitos para el bautismo y también inscribirse para la charla pre bautismal que se lleva acabo cada primer martes
del mes en español y cada segundo martes del mes en ingles. Los bautismos en vietnamita pueden ser arreglados con el
Padre Vicente.

A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends,
Welcome to First Holy Communion Sunday! Today 98 of
our children will receive the gift of the Eucharist for the
first time in their lives. And last Sunday, 19 boys and girls
received this gift for the first time at our Saint Joan of Arc
Worship Site. Congratulations to all who receive Holy
Communion for the first time. And may God bless their
parents and families as well.
Yes, the Eucharist is the greatest gift that Jesus has left
us. The Eucharist is Jesus, his body and blood, soul and
divinity. That is why at the Last Supper Jesus took the
bread and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this
is my Body.” And he took the cup filled with wine and
said: “Take this, all of you and drink from it, for this is the
chalice of my Blood.” It is Jesus that we receive when we
receive Holy Communion.
Those receiving this gift for the first time are so
excited. They have been studying about the Eucharist in
their religion class. They have been learning about the
Mass and their responses at Mass. They have made
their retreat and have gone to confession. And today
they are dressed “to the nines” as is said, in their Sunday
best…beautiful white dresses and very handsome
suits. And we feel their excitement, don’t we? Families
and friends, and all in attendance feel the joy of these
young people receiving this special gift for the first time.
And yet, sadly, that joy and excitement will be short
lived for some. For the greatest gift Jesus has left us will
be forgotten until it is time to receive the sacrament of
Confirmation. And may never be received again after
that. Yes, sadly my friends the gift of the Eucharist is
treated like any gift we receive. We receive the gift a few
times, and like a toy we stop playing with, we forget about
it and the greatest gift is no longer appreciated.
You see brothers and sisters, nearly 80% of those who
have received this greatest gift in their lives, have
forgotten about it. They have stopped practicing their
faith. They have stopped attending Mass each
week. Schools have merged and parishes have closed
because so many people have forgotten about the
greatest gift they have ever received in their lives. The
Body of Christ is weaker without them. Our society and
world is in poor spiritual health without them.
As one privileged to act in the person of Jesus Christ
providing this spiritual food for life’s journey, I can only
pray, that those who are thirsting for meaning in their
lives and are hungering for peace and justice in our world
will be so inspired by a child receiving the gift of the
Eucharist for the first time, that they will return to the
Table of Plenty and never leave it again.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be using the services of Green
Drop to support their clothing drive. Look for the Green Drop truck in the
church parking lot where an attendant will be available to assist you with
your donations. Please place your donations of usable men's, women's
and children's clothing in plastic bags or boxes. Household items such as:
kitchenware, games/toys, small appliances under 50 pounds, electronics,
sporting goods, books, CDs & videos are also accepted.

Bautismo de los Niños
Si quiere bautizar a un niño, hay
que llamar a la rectoría al 215743-2600 para hacer una cita con
un sacerdote para arreglar los
detalles del bautismo. No se puede
ir a la clase pre-bautismal sin
haberse reunido con el sacerdote
primero. También, para bautizar en
los Santos Inocentes hay que estar registrado aquí. Se
puede hacer una cita para registrarse, o se puede
registrar cuando venga para hablar del bautismo.
Finalmente, cuando está escogiendo a sus padrinos,
tenga en cuenta que la responsabilidad principal de un
padrino es dar buen ejemplo al ahijado de lo que es
vivir bien la fe católica. Por eso, para ser padrino, hay
que haber recibido todos los sacramentos (bautismo,
confirmación, comunión), estar registrado y participando
en la iglesia (en esta parroquia u otra), y si es casado,
ser casado por la Iglesia.

BÀI ĐỌC I: Cv 15, 1-2. 22-29

thêm gánh nặng nào khác ngoài mấy điều cần kíp".

Trong những ngày ấy, có mấy người từ Giuđêa đến dạy bảo
các anh em rằng: "Nếu anh em không chịu cắt bì theo luật
Môsê, thì không được cứu độ". Do đó, Phaolô và Barnaba đã
tranh luận gắt gao với họ. Bấy giờ người ta quyết định là
Phaolô, Barnaba và một ít người khác thuộc phe họ, lên
Giêrusalem gặp các Tông đồ và niên trưởng, để xin giải
quyết vấn đề này.
Bấy giờ các Tông đồ, kỳ lão, cùng toàn thể Hội thánh chấp
thuận chọn ít người trong các ngài, và sai đi Antiôkia với
Phaolô và Barnaba: đó là Giuđa, gọi là Barsaba, và Sila,
những vị có uy thế giữa anh em. Các ngài nhờ tay hai ông
chuyển bức thơ viết như sau:
"Anh em Tông đồ và kỳ lão chúng tôi kính chào các anh em
thuộc dân ngoại ở Antiôkia, Syria và Cilicia. Chúng tôi nghe
tin rằng có mấy người trong chúng tôi đã đến nói những lời
gây hoang mang và làm cho tâm hồn anh em xao xuyến,
chúng tôi không uỷ quyền cho họ, vì thế chúng tôi họp lại,
đồng ý chọn một ít người và sai đến anh em làm một với
Barnaba và Phaolô, những anh em yêu quý của chúng tôi,
tức là những người đã liều mạng sống mình vì danh Đức
Giêsu Kitô, Chúa chúng ta. Vậy chúng tôi đã sai Giuđa và
Sila đến nói miệng với anh em cũng chính những lời này:
Thánh Thần và chúng tôi xét rằng không nên đặt thêm cho
anh em gánh nặng nào khác ngoài mấy điều cần kíp này là
anh em hãy kiêng đồ cúng thần, huyết, thịt thú chết
ngạt và gian dâm; giữ mình khỏi các điều đó là anh
em làm phải. Chúc anh em vạn an". Đó là lời Chúa.

Đáp: Chư dân, hãy ca tụng Ngài, thân lạy Chúa,
hết thảy chư dân hãy ca tụng Ngài (c. 4).

1) Xin Thiên Chúa xót thương và chúc phúc lành cho
chúng con, xin chiếu giãi trên chúng con ánh sáng tôn
nhan Chúa, để trên địa cầu người ta nhìn biết đường
lối của Ngài, cho chư dân thiên hạ được biết rõ ơn
Ngài cứu độ.

2) Các dân tộc hãy vui mừng hoan hỉ, vì Ngài công
bình cai trị chư dân, và Ngài cai quản các nước địa
cầu.

3) Chư dân, hãy ca tụng Ngài, thân lạy Chúa, hết
thảy chư dân hãy ca tụng Ngài! Xin Thiên Chúa chúc
phúc lành cho chúng con, và cho khắp cùng bờ cõi trái
đất kính sợ Ngài.

BÀI ĐỌC II: Kh 21, 10-14. 22-23
"Người chỉ cho tôi thấy thành thánh do Thiên
Chúa từ trời gởi xuống".

Thiên Thần đem tôi lên một núi cao chót vót khi tôi
ngất trí, và chỉ cho tôi thấy thành thánh Giêrusalem từ
trời nơi Thiên Chúa mà xuống, chói lọi vinh quang
Thiên Chúa. Ánh sáng của nó toả ra như đá quý,
giống như ngọc thạch, óng ánh tựa pha lê. Thành có
tường lũy cao lớn, trổ mười hai cổng, trên các cổng có
mười hai thiên thần, và có khắc tên mười hai chi họ
con cái Israel. Phía đông có ba cổng, phía bắc có ba
cổng, Phía nam có ba cổng, và phía tây có ba cổng.
Tường thành xây trên mười hai móng có khắc tên
mười hai tông đồ của Con Chiên. Còn đền thờ, tôi
không thấy có trong thành, vì Thiên Chúa toàn năng
và Con Chiên là đền thờ của thành. Thành không cần
mặt trời, mặt trăng chiếu soi: vì đã có vinh quang
Thiên Chúa chiếu sáng nó, và đèn của nó chính là Con
Chiên. Đó là lời Chúa.
ALLELUIA: Ga 14, 23
Alleluia, alleluia! - Chúa phán: "Nếu ai yêu mến Thầy,
thì sẽ giữ lời Thầy, và Cha Thầy sẽ yêu mến người ấy,
và Chúng Ta sẽ đến và ở trong người ấy". - Alleluia.

"Thánh Thần sẽ nhắc nhở cho các con tất cả
những gì Thầy đã nói với các con".
