Presentation of the Lord
February 2, 2014
Dear Friends,
On this Feast of the Presentation of the Lord the
Scriptures proclaimed present to us Christ as the
“light” in the midst of the darkness of the World.
The Light of Christ shines brightly for those who
open their hearts to Christ’s Spirit. As we immerse ourselves over the next few weeks in Jesus’
Sermon on the Mount, it is important to remember
that the one who fetches us is EMMANUEL, God
-with-us.

God is always with us… we need not be
afraid!
As you reflect on God’s Word, may He strengthen you with His peace. May the good Lord bless
you and your dear family now and always. Please
pray for me.

Do Something!
The prophet Malachi reminds us that we face the
“refiner’s fire” but as St. Paul says, we are not
alone. Jesus was tested through suffering. He can
help us endure. Will we courageously present ourselves and our loved ones to God, saying, “Yes” to
his holy will?
Mary and Joseph willingly accepted the refiner’s
fire, offering up their son to pay the price for our
salvation. Are we willing to share in that cross by
embracing difficult times so we can comfort others
too?
Seek out someone who is suffering. Instead of
saying, “Let me know if I can help,” DO
something! Deliver a meal. Run errands for them.
Babysit. Drop their children to school or pick them
up. If you’re not sure what to do ask, “What do
you have difficulty doing?” The answer may
reveal an opportunity to assist. When we share
other people’s suffering and comfort them, our
trials feel lighter. May we imitate Jesus by sharing
our burdens.

for the poor. Open your hand to the poor and needy
neighbor in your land (Deut. 15:11; Isa. 58:6-12. As
the example of the saints has taught us, in loving and
serving the poor, we too love and serve Jesus Himself.
If you have not already turned in your commitment
please take time today to consider the pledge you
will wish to make, a pledge that gives witness to your
gratitude for God’s blessings in your life.
