LOOKING FOR
WELCOMING PEOPLE
Do you have a few minutes to spare each Saturday or Sunday?
We are seeking volunteers to help with the Welcome and Information Booth placed after every mass outside the parish area.
Volunteers would spend about fifteen minutes after their Sunday Mass attendance manning the booth and answering questions from visitors and would be parishioners, mostly directing
them to who can help them. This a great way to give back to
your parish and assist our Holy Church. For more information
or to sign on, please contact Juan Balloveras at 786-344-0143
or by email at [email protected]
PARKING LOT CHARITY & COURTESY
Please be mindful that the parking lot is the school ground is
open and there is always plenty of parking available.
“Fire Lanes” are exactly that. They are lanes to be left open
for an emergency for Fire or Emergency vehicles. Fire Lanes
are not parking lanes. Cars parked in a fire lane can be towed
according to code. We have not enforced this hoping for common sense and courtesy. However, we may have to do this for
emergency safety sake. Most of our neighbors are not Catholic
or parishioners. However, they have been more than kind and
patient with us regarding damage to their lawns. Please park
in our school lot when the regular parking places are all taken
up. Thank you for your charity and for your courtesy in this
very important matter.
NEW PARISHIONERS...ARE WELCOMED AT ST. JOHN’S. If you want to join our Parish
Family, please attend one of our orientation meetings which are held one Sunday a month at 9:30
a.m., Rooms E&F. For dates please call the Parish Office or speak to someone at the Information
Booth in the Loggia after Masses on Sundays. Everyone interested in joining is welcome to the
meeting! We have coffee, donuts and juice for the little ones - and you will be out in time for the
11:00 a.m. Mass. CURRENT PARISHIONERS, please inform us of any name, address or phone
changes; this will assist in keeping your records up to date. Thank You!!

PASTOR’S REFLECTION
JUBILEE YEAR OF
MERCY
Fourth Sunday of Advent
December 20, 2015
Dear Friends,
When Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, Elizabeth
exclaimed to Mary: Blessed are you who believed that
what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
Can the same thing be said to us? As we have heard...as
we hear the Word of God in our hearts, do we believe? If
we believe then why are we anxious, or disquieted, or
perturbed...as those who have no faith?
*May the God of Mercy strengthen you with His peace.
Be assured of my prayers for you and for your dear ones,
particularly during this holy season of Advent. May the
good Lord bless you with wisdom and peace. Please pray
for me.
To mark the start of the Jubilee Year of
Mercy, churches around the world —
including six in the Archdiocese of
Miami — opened a Holy Door on the
third Sunday of Advent — five days
after the December 8 opening of the
Holy Door in Rome by Pope Francis.
A Holy door symbolizes a passage or transition into a
special year of evangelization and prayer. The Holy Door
is opened to evoke the concept of forgiveness, which is
the main focus of a Holy Year, and in this case mercy,
the focus of this extraordinary jubilee.
Archbishop Thomas Wenski opened the Holy Door at St.
Mary Cathedral last Sunday. The five other designated
churches that opened their Holy Doors are as follows:
In Christ,

Msgr. Pablo A. Navarro


HOW WILL YOU CELEBRATE
THE JUBILEE?
Pope Francis asks each of us to celebrate by showing to
others the mercy that God constantly extends to all of us.
Here are a few things you can do:
Contemplate Mercy
The motto for the Jubilee year is “Merciful like the
father.” By contemplating mercy we begin to see how
God gives himself to us and asks nothing in return.
Because we are touched by God’s mercy we can be
merciful toward others.
Don’t Judge or Condemn
No one can look into another person’s soul. We see only
what happens on the surface. Refraining from judgment
and condemnation is an act of mercy, because it allows
us to accept the good in every person and spare that person suffering caused by our negative attitudes.
Forgive
Jesus asks us to forgive others in the same way that
we have received forgiveness from God. When we
forgive, we release the poison of resentment that builds
up inside of us. Forgiveness is an act of mercy for
ourselves as well as for the person who hurts us.

During the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis is
granting indulgences to people who visit any of the four
papal basilicas in Rome, the cathedral where they live,
or any of the shrines or churches designated by their
diocesan bishop.
Indulgences also are granted to anyone who performs
“one or more” of the traditional works of mercy, such as
visiting the sick, feeding the hungry or sheltering the
homeless. These actions must be accompanied by
participation in the sacrament of reconciliation and the
Eucharist, a profession of faith and prayers for the pope
and his intentions.
Those who are in prison, ill or elderly can obtain the
indulgence by attending Mass or praying wherever they
can, for the love of the Father “excludes no one.” For
more information go to www.im.va.

SJNCS School Notes:
Beautiful Christmas tradition! Through Reach Out, our school
ministry, SJNCS students and parents donate gifts for the
children of Sacred Heart. Once the collection comes to an
end, the gifts are taken to Sacred Heart where the SJNCS
students sing Christmas Carols and distribute the toys. What joy this brings to
our students and the children of Sacred Heart. A special thank you to Mrs.
Elsie Valderrama for spearheading Reach Out, Mrs. Lillian Caballero for
leading the Eagle Prep school choir in Christmas Carols, and all the SJNCS
parents, current and past, who donated their time last Saturday morning to
make this a special event for all.

Palabra y a Su Plan divino. Por favor oren por mi.
Asegúrense que los tengo a ustedes y a sus seres
