Saturday
Dear Parishioners,
Not only is it Thanksgiving, but this month is also my
one-year anniversary at Mother Seton. I don’t know
about you, but I am grateful for being here. A lot has
taken place this past year but from the time I stepped
foot on the property I was aware that I was on a
journey God started and so all I needed to do was to
watch and respond as best I could. I remember my first
weeks here and how fun it was to meet you all. I was
struck by what needed to be addressed but I could not
deny that I was happy. Things weren’t ideal from my
point of view but it was clear there were wonderful
people here and Christ prevailed over all the
circumstances. It was a confirmation to me that He is
present in every circumstance. My hope and certainty
were what Monsignor Albacete said upon his death,
“Jesus is coming. He wants to be here with us.”

I am also very moved (and relieved) by the response to
the increased offertory campaign. We can all see that
the collection has grown. We will report after the New
Year on where we stand but already I know we have
good news to share. Though I say I don’t mind asking
for money, it is a little humbling and especially so
when you are so generous. Countless of you
responded so generously and some quite a lot!
However what humbles me even more are the folks
who wrote to me to tell me that they could not make
an increase! These were mostly people who are now
on a fixed income and really can’t afford more, and
they apologized for that! Goodness me! I just want to
embrace them and thank them for all they have done
and for their love of this parish. This attitude is
exactly what I want to show as worthy of praise. It
isn’t the amount given but the seriousness in which it
is given. This is a source of a treasure greater than
money. But of course I am equally grateful and moved
by all of you who could make an increase. It is really
beautiful and exciting to see. Great things await us.
It should be the easiest thing and most natural thing to
be thankful but I admit I need help. I can get buried in
my own concerns and miss the good in front of me.

Fr. Lee’s Letter (continued from pg. 1):
I can be lost in thoughts that see what is missing. But
the truth is not in this. It is in looking up, opening my
eyes and recognizing all as gift. The Giver wants
nothing but my happiness. I know this from my
experience over these past 25 years of priesthood.
Every place I’ve been has filled me with joy and great
blessings. The same is true now. Thank you for being
the reason for my happiness and causing me to look up
and thank God. May this Thanksgiving be a time of
blessing and peace and love for all of you.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Lee

DE NUESTRO PARROCO
(Padre Lee Fangmeyer)
Queridos amigos:
Me
25, 41).

Excerpt from Fr. Joe Breighner’s
More Reflections
Along A Country Road
“More Reflections Along A Country Road”
by Father Joe Breighner
“Minute Meditations for Everyday”
Good Example
The most effective way we share our scriptures, our understanding of the sacraments, our prayer life and
our image of God, is by how we live. As someone has profoundly put it, “People may not always believe
what you say, but they will always believe what you do.”
So our effort is to live as Jesus asked us to live when He gave the criteria for entering the kingdom of
God, “I was hungry and you fed me; thirsty and you gave me something to drink; naked and you clothed
me; in prison and you visited me; a stranger and you took me in”
Put simply, the best way to show our belief in God is through the sermon of our lives.
When we treat the least person the way we treat God, then we become believable and God
becomes visible.
