The same Mary who stood at the foot of her Son’s cross received from him another son, the Beloved Disciple and, along with him, all of us as her children. When she appeared at La Sale e and spoke to two of her “children,” Maximin and Mélanie, she called them “my children,” not just “children” as a stranger might do. And she chose for herself the two most unlikely ambassadors imaginable, the same two ignorant children to whom she appeared, telling them to “make this known to all my people.” Today the La Sale e Missionaries, the La Sale e Sisters, the La Sale e Associates and other lay groups have taken on that role, in the same spirit of humility, fully aware of their own inadequacies. Some of us will be predominantly “ambassadors,” ac vely advancing the cause of reconcilia on and “making the message known” in a public way. Some of us will be more discreet “signs of the covenant. All of us, however, will be children of the Beau ful Lady. It cannot be otherwise, for she came to us as our Weeping Mother. TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Turn to the LORD who is generous in forgiving (Isaiah 55:6-9). Psalm — The Lord is near to all who call upon him (Psalm 145). Second Reading — Live your lives in a way worthy of the gospel of Christ (Philippians 1:20c-24, 27a). Gospel — The last will be first, and the first will be last (Ma hew 20:1-16a). Evangelio — Los úl mos serán los primeros y los primeros serán los úl mos (Mateo 20:1-16a). 9-21-14~9-28-14 9-21-14~9-28-14 Is 55:6-9; Ps 145:2-3, 8-9, 17-18; Phil 1:20c24, 27a; Mt 20:1-16a Monday: Prv 3:27-34; Ps 15:2-5; Lk 8:16-18 Tuesday: Prv 21:1-6, 10-13; Ps 119:1, 27, 30, 34, 35, 44; Lk 8:19-21 Wednesday: Prv 30:5-9; Ps 119:29, 72, 89, 101, 104, 163; Lk 9:1-6 Thursday: Eccl 1:2-11; Ps 90:3-6, 12-14, 17bc; Lk 9:7-9 Friday: Eccl 3:1-11; Ps 144:1b, 2abc, 3-4; Lk 9:18-22 Saturday: Eccl 11:9 — 12:8; Ps 90:3-6, 12-14, 17; Lk 9:43b-45 Sunday: Ez 18:25-28; Ps 25:4-9; Phil 2:1-11 [1-5]; Mt 21:28-32 Domingo: Is 55:6-9; Sal 145 (144):2-3, 8-9, 17-18; Fil 1:20c-24, 27a; Mt 20:1-16a Lunes: Pro 3:27-34; Sal 15 (14):2-5; Lc 8:16-18 Martes: Pro 21:1-6, 10-13; Sal 119 (118):1, 27, 30, 34, 35, 44; Lc 8:19-21 Miércoles: Pro 30:5-9; Sal 119 (118):29, 72, 89, 101, 104, 163; Lc 9:1-6 Jueves: Ec 1:2-11; Sal 90 (89):3-6, 12-14, 17bc; Lc 9:7-9 Viernes: Ec 3:1-11; Sal 144 (143):1b, 2abc, 3-4; Lc 9:18-22 Sábado: Ec 11:9 — 12:8; Sal 90 (89):3-6, 12-14, 17; Lc 9:43b-45 Domingo: Ez 18:25-28; Sal 25 (24):4-9; Fil 2:1-11 [1-5]; Mt 21:28-32 Sunday: 4. 951-924-1968 September 20, 2014 Saturday 5:00 p.m Luz Gavira † James David Karnes 7:00 p.m Roselia Olvero † Miguel Castaneda Jr. † Antonio Gonzalez † Edgar Porras † Sunday September 21, 2014 6:30 a.m. Eduviges Miramontes † 8:15 a.m. James David Karnes † 10:00a.m. David & Claudette Monson † Andrea Acio Aguinaldo † Sr. Romelio Ruiz Sr. † 12 Noon Luzmila Sandoval Sandoval † Fabiola Martinez † 2:00 p.m. Antolin Samano Sr. † Natividad Samano † Antolin Samano Jr † 5:30 p.m. Anthony Masculino Giralao † Pedro Acido Alupay Sr. † 7:00 p.m. Galdina Rodriguez † Salvador & Hector Rodriguez † Monday 8:00 a.m. Rosa Clara Ruvai Rosas † John Simonetti † 6:30 p.m. All Priest’s Tuesday 8:00 a.m. Donald Boyum † Anthony Arzu (Birthday) 6:30 p.m. All Priest’s Wednesday 8:00 a.m. Justin Labrador † 12 Noon † 6:30 p.m. Ivanna Fonnegra (Birthday) Thursday 8:00 a.m. All Priest’s Sunday, September 21 7 am Health Ministry Blood Pressure (E Hall) 8 am Health Ministry Workshop (E Hall) 9 am RCIA Children 11 am RCIA English Adults 1 pm RICA Adultos Spanish 4 pm Spanish Ushers/Dramatization Practice (Rm 1,2) 6 pm Young Adult Group (S McGivney) Monday, September 22 9 am Al-anon (Rm 3) 9 am Coro Resurreccion (Rm 2) 10 am ESL (Rm 1) 1 pm Food Bank Distribution 4 pm Ballet Folklorico 5 pm Quinceanera/ Wedding Rehersal (Main Church) 6 pm Dramatizacion (Rm 1) 6 pm Jovenes Caminando en Cristo (W Hall) 6 pm Unidos en Cristo (E Hall) 7 pm Jovenes Para Cristo (Rm 2-4) 7 pm Catechists Meeting (Rm 12-15) 7pm Catholics of African Decent (Rm 6) 7 pm Prevencion y Rescate (Conf. You will participate in a Marriage Convalidation Ceremony in the Catholic Church… Convalidation comes fr om a Latin wor d meaning “to firm up or “to strengthen” A Convalidation is not merely a renewal of vows made previously but is a new act of consent by each spouse. This Convalidation of Marriage may be celebrated within Mass. Your marriage then becomes sacramental and will be recorded in the Sacramental book of the Church. Our Group Wedding is right around the corner. We have very little time for interviews. This celebration will take place November 22, 2014 at 2pm. For more information, please contact Deacon Carlos Morales at (951) 571-8350. Its purpose is to create an environment that is conducive to prayer by enhancing the different sacred spaces wher e we encounter the presence of Christ in the liturgy. We enhance (not decorate) these sacred spaces with the liturgical colors of the season using materials from nature such as fabric; plants and flowers (NEVER fake ones.) To use fake flowers/plants or materials is an insult to God who wants the best materials for God’s dwelling place (Domus Dei/Domus ecclesiae) The sacred spaces in the church we enhanced are the a) baptismal font. This sacred space reminds us of our becoming one with Christ and Christ’s Body the Church; b) The nave where the Body of Christ (people) are seated. Christ is present in the people too; c) the Ambo symbolizes Christ’s presence in the proclamation of the Word. c) The Presider’s Chair - where the Priest sits. The Presider’s Chair is the Cathedra, which means that the Priest represents Christ as the teacher. He acts in Persona Christi in offering the sacrifice of the mass. (to be continued…) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ DOMUS DEI ... Celebrating Mary in September. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ We reflected last week that God revealed himself on the mountain to Moses . It was the place where God gave him the Law. Jesus went to the Mountain to deliver his sermon on the mount. The Blessed Virgin came to the mountain of La Salette to instruct her people as well. We mentioned two weeks ago that the feast of the Exultation of the Cross and the feast of the Sorrows of our Lady lead us to Mary’s apparition at the Mountain of La Salette. The Exultation or Triumph of the Cross took place on a mountain– Mount Calvary. Christ’s death on the cross on Calvary led to his resurrection and through this mystery, humankind has been redeemed. At La Salette, the exultation of the cross was made visible through the large cross that rested on Mary’s chest. Every tear that fell on the cross from her eyes made the light that surrounded her brighter. The light that comes from the cross is the exaltation or triumph of the cross - the Light is the resurrection. Death is vanquished. (to be continued)…. . Celebrando María en septiembre. WWW.STCHRISTOPHERMV.ORG 11. Twenty-FiŌh Sunday in Ordinary September 20/21, 2014 From an early age, we tend to distort the concept of “fairness”: “I am good. I deserve good things. I am not receiving good things. Something must be wrong. Who’s going to fix it?” We also know the age-old expression: “Who ever said life was fair?” Jesus knew this expression when he offered his parable in today’s Gospel reading. Chris an stewards acknowledge, with humility, that they receive good things from the Lord in abundance; even if these gi s are not the ones they think they need when they need them. Consider which servants you iden fy with most in the Gospel reading, the ones who demand “fairness”, or that final servant who, seemingly, deserves the least. if you know of someone who needs prayers please call Dorothy at 924-1968 ext. 118. Yo no recibo cosas buenas, algo debe estar mal. 12. 951-924-1968 ST.
