This weekend, and the next weekend, the Second Collection is our Maintenance & Repair Collection. These funds
help with the repair and restoration of the parish buildings.

GENERATIONS OF FAITH CAMPAIGN
Remember to keep active
your
promise
to
the
“Generations of Faith Campaign” and to help make the
necessary repairs in our Parish. Please use the envelopes
sent by the Campaign Office
or bring your own envelopes
properly identified. All payments that we receive are sent to
the Diocese every week. Although we have surpassed the
goal of $950,000 and promises of almost $1,400,000 was
obtained, that amount has NOT yet been received. Only if
we keep our promise, can we make a reality the goals proposed to help our Bishop and our Parish. If you have any
questions or concerns about the Campaign, please contact
us by calling the Parish Office and leave your message for
Marlene Paucar.
May the Lord be with you during these last weeks of summer of 2016 and provide you with deserved days of rest and
leisure. And if you go out on vacation, remember your parish needs, they never take a vacation.

ADULT SACRAMENTS-RCIA ARE OPEN
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of prayer, reflection, and leadership that allows for the
continual discernment of God’s will in our lives. Candidates for RCIA includes:
1. Non-baptized adults who wish to enter the Catholic
Church;
2. Baptized adult Christians of another denomination who
wish to continue their Christian faith in the Catholic
Church;
3. Adult baptized Catholics who have not yet completed the
Sacraments of Initiation (Communion, Confirmation)
and wish to do so.
Classes will start on:

Monday, September 12th, at 7:00pm-English & Spanish

ANOINTING OF THE SICK
Please remember that the Anointing of the Sick is taking place
the second Saturday of the month. In English at 9:00am Mass
and in Spanish at 7:00am Mass. Next Anointing will take
place on Saturday, August 13th, 2016. Please call ahead of
time to prepare accordingly.

SR. MARY DENIS WOODS, GNSH
We regret to inform you that Sister Mary
Denis Woods, GNSH passed away on Saturday, July 27th, 2016.
Jackson Heights, New York, was her birthplace, she graduated from Blessed Sacrament School and ministered her religious
life in this area for many years. She followed the path of her older sister, Sister Michael Marie who was the former principal of
Blessed Sacrament School for 30 years, and entered the congregation of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. She was followed by her
younger sister, Sister Mary Terence who died at a young age. The
Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart lived in the Convent of Blessed Sacrament Church for more than 30 years. Sister Mary Denis left
Blessed Sacrament Convent in 2003 and retired to the Motherhouse
in Pennsylvania. Lets pray for these women who served the Lord
and the community with love and care.

de la Escuela del Santísimo Sacramento y
ejerció su ministerio aquí por muchos
años. Ella siguió el ejemplo de su hermana, Hna. Michael Marie quien fue directora de la Escuela del Santísimo Sacramento
por más de 30 años, e ingreso en la congregación de la Monjas Grises del Sagrado Corazón. Su joven hermana, Hna. Mary Terence
siguió sus pasos también pero falleció aún joven. La Congregación
de la Monjas Grises del Sagrado Corazón vivieron en el Convento
del Santísimo Sacramento por mas de 30 años. La Hna. Mary Denis al dejar el Convento del Santísimo Sacramento en el 2003 se
retiro a la Casa Madre en Pennsylvania. Oremos por estas mujeres
que sirvieron a Dios y a la comunidad con amor y dedicación.

CATECHISTS ARE NEEDED
Blessed Sacrament Religious Education Program is looking
for people to serve the children of our community. Through
the teaching of the Word of God in our religious formation
program, the children will learn about the presence of God
in their lives. Currently the program serves over 1,200 children. We need adults, young and old, in English and Spanish to join us in this mission. If you are interested, please

SPIRITUAL PARTICIPATION
IN THE EUCHARIST
We want to remind you that the hosts and wine, candles and flowers used for the celebration of the Eucharist in our parish can be donated for a period of one
week. They can be made for special intentions (sick,
thanksgiving, birthdays, etc.), or in memory of a loved
one. The intention will be announced in the weekly
bulletin for all members of the parish join in prayer as a token of
gratitude for the offering. Please come to the Rectory Office to

WORLD YOUTH DAY KRAKÓW—JULY/AUGUST DEL 2016
Dear Parishioners,
World Youth Day 2016 has recently concluded at Krakow, Poland where 20 of our youths and adults participated
in representing Blessed Sacrament Church, a blessing shared by all those who were able to attend.
I would like to thank you for your support, prayers and help throughout these almost two years of preparation for
the event. I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge our youths who although had encountered some inconveniences such as sleeping in the countryside in the middle of a large vigil, which could be seen as strenuous for many, exuded
so much positive energy and joy throughout these days. With this in mind, it is important to consider the fact that there are
millions of human beings who live in poverty and oppression every day, experiencing much more strenuous inconveniences
in their day to day lives. It is in moments when we face inconvenience that Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio invites us to take a
pilgrimage far from what is comfortable or easy for us in our day to day lives and reflect and pray in solidarity for our
brothers and sisters around the world.
We have learned many things. We have learned to share, tolerate and explore other cultures and other cities, and I
hope for many, they embraced the opportunity to discover the roots of what will lead them to fulfill the plans God has for
them in their lives. On behalf of the community, I would like to thank Angelica Taveras and her team of chaperones, as well
as Father Romel who was able to participate and live as a young priest in this moment in the Church at Poland. Lets begin
to prepare our team for World Youth Day 2019 in Panama, placing all our work and efforts in God’s hands.

JORNADA MUNDIAL DE LA JUVENTUD CRACOVIA–
JULIO/AGOSTO 2016
Queridos parroquianos,
La Jornada Mundial de la Juventud que acaba de terminar en Cracovia, Polonia donde 20 de nuestros jóvenes y adultos participaron en representación del Santísimo Sacramento fue una bendición compartida por todos aquellos que pudimos participar.
Quiero agradecer su apoyo, sus oraciones y ayuda recibida en estos casi dos años de preparación de la Jornada. Para nuestros
Jóvenes que derrocharon energía y alegría en estos días también supuso vivir aquellos inconvenientes de dormir en el campo en
esa vigilia larga y extenuante para muchos, algo que millones de seres humanos viven desde siempre en razón de la pobreza y
la opresión, de ahí la invitación de nuestro Obispo Nicolás DiMarzio de venir con la idea de un Peregrinaje lejos de la comodidad y facilidad de nuestros días en casita. Hemos aprendido muchas cosas: a compartir, tolerar, y descubrir otras culturas y
otros pueblos: para muchos y lo espero, la oportunidad de descubrir su ruta que los lleve a cumplir las metas que Dios quiere
que logren realizar en sus vidas. Agradezco en nombre de la comunidad a Angélica Taveras y a su equipo de chaperones, lo
mismo al Padre Romel que pudo participar y vivir como joven sacerdote este momento de Iglesia en los caminos de Polonia.
Preparemos desde ya nuestro equipo para el 2019 en Panamá, poniendo nuestro trabajo y esfuerzos en manos de Dios.
