Journey in Love: Living Sacramental Marriage

2 Evening Marriage Enrichment
Friday Evenings, March 21 & 28, 7 PM- 9 PM
St Mark Parish Center – McGivney Hall
God has put a “holy longing” within us to draw us to Him. We
experience God’s love for us most vividly through our relationships. This marriage enrichment 2-evening series focuses on our
call to Christian marriage and its unique spirituality. It calls us to
more intentionally live out our promises to journey in love. To
register: Call 972-424-5794 Note: There will be a good will
donation to the ministry.
Lenten Prayer Opportunity
Pray the evening prayer in the chapel one or more times
per week; Monday-Thursday from 6-6:45PM.
LENTEN JOURNEY
Plan to attend this meditation and prayer experience
based on the words of Christ from the cross on Tuesday, April 8, from 9:30AM-8:30PM in the main sanctuary. This
self-directed prayer experience is for adults and teens and is
set up for you to come and go as you wish. Lenten Journey
includes small meditation centers which participants visit at
their own pace. Each has scripture, an experiential element,
and something to reflect on, pray or journal about. Come and
spend some time walking with Jesus in the valley of Lent. Child
care is available - Donation requested. For more information or
to make childcare reservations, call 972-424-5794.
This is prayed by religious, clergy, and lay people around the
world. It includes hymns, psalms, readings, and intercessions.
Praying the evening prayer is especially recommended for
lay people. This celebration gives praise to God and is second only to the mass in importance in the church.
This prayer, prayed with other members of St. Mark, would
give a nice structure to your Lenten devotion. We provide
books and instructions.
Instructions will be given at 6PM on Tuesday March 11 and
Thursday March 13 so you will be comfortable praying with us.

and giving to others in need. A box will be located in the school

The Knights of Columbus participate in the Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament every Friday, from 8 to 9PM, during the twenty-four hour

dedicated hour of time, we pray, meditate, and reflect on our relationship
with Jesus Christ. This hour is not restricted to members of the Knights
but is available for anyone who wishes to worship and adore Jesus.
Please join us. Note: Official Catholic teachings consider the exposition
and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament an important practice which
stimulates the faithful to an awareness of the marvelous presence of

2014
MARCH 9, 2014
St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Community
Plano, Texas
As you may have heard, our parish is embarking on a campaign! Below is an overview of the
details ...
Parish Target: $2,405,000
Bishop Farrell intends, with the consent of his Advisory Committee, unless otherwise restricted by
a donor, to request that 30% of parish solicited funds raised by each parish up to the amount of its
parish goal, and 70% of those funds over its goal, be distributed back to that parish for its own
approved philanthropic purposes.
Our Need:
Over the past five years, our parish has successfully completed a
major capital program including construction of our new Narthex and
Columbarium, the purchase and remodeling of our new Parish Center.
While the capital fundraising programs for our expansion were
successful, we fell short in achieving the total investment needed. As
a result, as a parish we carry an accumulated debt of $1.3 million.
Our Plan:
We plan on dedicating our portion of the diocesan capital campaign
to address our parish debt. Reaching our target would provide a
minimum of $721,500 toward our need.
*All donations should be made payable to The Catholic Foundation with reference to “Our
Faith… Our Future.” All payments are contributions to The Catholic Foundation, a Texas nonprofit corporation that is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue
Code and a public charity under sections 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and 509(a)(1) of the Code. Generally, contributions to it are deductible to
the maximum extent permitted by section 170(b) of the Code. The Our Faith… Our Future Diocese of Dallas Capital Campaign Fund
is a fund owned by The Catholic Foundation.

ST. MARK THE EVANGELIST CATHOLIC COMMUNITY
PARISH GOAL
$65 million
Every parish in the diocese is being
asked to participate in this historic
campaign. The collective parish goal is
$65 million.
$125 Million
CAMPAIGN
LEADERSHIP GOAL
$60 million
Bishop Kevin J. Farrell, assisted by
clergy and lay leaders, has set a
personal goal of raising additional funds
to carry the diocese beyond the
parishes’ goal of $65 million.
Funds are being raised for the Our Faith … Our Future Diocese of Dallas Capital Campaign Fund of The Catholic Foundation. Bishop
Farrell’s role as Advisor to the Fund allows him to make recommendations to The Catholic Foundation as to the expenditures of the
Fund toward its philanthropic purposes. Goals of the campaign include raising funds for the following needs:
Catholic Schools - $50 Million
To create an endowment to benefit schools by subsidizing principal and teacher training and
salaries (currently often below the minimum wage set by the diocese) in order to attract and
retain excellent staff—$25M
For immediate funds to improve the infrastructure of needy schools—$10M
To double the current education scholarship fund which currently supports 929 children— $15M
Parish Assistance Fund - $40 Million
Provide support for capital improvement projects in need of immediate assistance and to plan future growth—$30M
Funds to assist parishes in the organized training of the 7,300 volunteers who serve as faith formation teachers to 49,100
students, provide scholarship assistance funds for parish leaders (DRE’s, Youth Directors, etc.) seeking MA degrees and
certificates in such programs as pastoral theology, ministry and liturgy, and expand lay leadership to assist the pastors and
priests in the parishes—$10M
Vocations - $18 Million
Necessary improvements for Holy Trinity Seminary include updating the heating and airconditioning system, replacing pipes, and repairing the elevator that is frequently
inoperative—$5M
Holy Trinity Seminary currently has approximately 75 seminarians. To create an endowment to
manage the cost of the future diocesan seminarian classes which have more than doubled in
the last five years and continue to grow—$13M
Restoring the Cathedral - $12 Million
The Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe serves as the spiritual center for Catholics in Dallas.
With 25,000 registered families, the Cathedral is recognized as the second largest cathedral
congregation in the nation, second only to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.
The Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe is more than 100 years old and is in need of
upgrades, including repairs to the stained glass windows, roof repairs, and electrical wiring so that
it can remain a source of pride for the Catholic community of Dallas.
Catholic Charities - $5 Million
Currently, Catholic Charities serves two out of nine counties of the diocese.
Adding two mobile units and two more fixed service locations will allow staff
and volunteers to expand their reach and assist more parishes and families in
need.

diocesana para nuestra deuda parroquial. Si alcanzamos nuestra
meta tendremos un mínimo de $721,500 para nuestra necesidad.
