Reflexión Del Párroco
Mi querida familia de Santo Rosario,
Ya estamos al punto de iniciar la “Minnesota State
Fair” (Feria del Estado de Minnesota) que cada año se
lleva a cabo los fines de agosto. Es una indicación para
los minnesotos que las clases de la escuela empezarán
pronto, el verano está acabando, y las temperaturas (y la nieve!)
van a bajar.
A pesar de estos eventos inevitables, estamos empezando
algunas iniciativas nuevas este otoño, y repitiendo otros eventos
importantes. Este año está nombrado un Año de Fe por el Papa
Benedicto XVI. Por eso estamos empezando como arquidiócesis,
un programa que se llama “Rediscover” (Reencontrar), para
profundizar la fe de todos. También, hay un nuevo programa que
enfocará en desarrollar la relación interpersonal y la fe de las
familias con niños pequeños que se llama “El Programa de
Formación Temprana para la Familia Católica”.
Estos nuevos programas acompañarán los programas que
tenemos cada año aquí: Educación Religiosa para que los niños,
jóvenes y adultos reciban los sacramentos, el Programa “After
School” para dar apoyo y reforzamiento a los alumnos en sus
estudios, y clases de ESL (Inglés) para adultos.
El Festival o Kermesse de Otoño será el domingo 7 de
octubre, la Fiesta Patronal de nuestra iglesia: la Fiesta de Nuestra
Señora del Santo Rosario. Celebraremos nuestro 134º cumpleaños
como parroquia, mas el 75º aniversario de la estatua de Nuestra
Señora del Santo Rosario (fuera del templo, cerca de las oficinas).
Como siempre, celebraremos el Día de los Muertos el 2 de
noviembre, y este año, el 3 de noviembre recordamos el 50º
Aniversario de la Canonización del San Martín de Porres,
O.P., uno de los dominicos más queridos del mundo.
Hay otras iniciativas también, pero esto es suficiente para tener
un idea de la vida y fe que valoramos y celebramos aquí en tu
parroquia familiar, Santo Rosario!

Reflection of the Pastor
Dear family of Holy Rosary,
It’s already time for the Minnesota State Fair! Can you believe it? That
means summer is coming to an end, school will be starting soon, and the
weather will begin to get chillier. The sumac are already turning red, have
you noticed?
There are many new initiatives happening this Fall, not the least of
which is the beginning of The Year of Faith declared by the Pope. We
will be engaging in a program called “Rediscover”, based on Matthew
Kelly’s book “Rediscovering Catholicism”. Everyone will be given a copy
in December (English and Spanish), and we will follow a program of renewal as an Archdiocese. Along with that, we are looking at a new Archdiocesan program for strengthening the relationship between parents and
their small children called “Early Catholic Family Life Training”. We
see the need here every day for strengthening the faith and relationships in
families, starting with the youngest.
This will accompany the other programs and celebrations we have
every Fall: Religious Education classes for adults and children, the After
School Program, ESL classes, among others. Our Parish Festival will be
Sunday October 7, when we celebrate our 134th birthday of our parish,
and the 75th Anniversary of our Statue of Our Lady Queen of the Holy
Rosary, located outside the church. On October 20, the Archdiocese will
celebrate its first ever Dia Latino, celebrating the Latino influence and
some new initiatives beginning for Latinos in the Archdiocese. November
2 we will celebrate Día de los Muertos (All Souls Day) in a big way as it
is a very popular and important event in the Latino church. November 3 is
the 50th Anniversary of the Canonization of St. Martin de Porres, O.P.,
and we are planning some sort of special celebration since we are the only
Dominican parish in the Archdiocese!
There are other initiatives as well, but this should give you an idea of
how we are working to support our faith and our families so that we might
become more solid and strong as a diverse community of life and hope!

Games, but also the Emporium, Grannies Attic, and Chance Booth.

Father Jim presented the children attending
the Bible Camp with scapulars. The most famous of the small scapulars is the Scapular of
Our Lady of Mount Carmel (the "Brown
Scapular"), revealed by the Blessed Virgin
Mary to St. Simon Stock on July 16, 1251.
Those who wear it faithfully as an expression
of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is
said, will be granted the gift of continued
faithfulness to God.

El Padre Jaime presentó a los niños que
atiendieron al Campamento de Biblia con
escapularios. El más famoso de los scapularios pequeños es el Escapulario de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo
(el “Escapulario Marrón"), revelado por la Virgen María a San Simón
Stock el 16 de julio de 1251. Los que lo lleven fielmente como una expresión de devoción a la Santísima Virgen, se dice, que se le concederá el don de la fidelidad continua a Dios.
