Spanish Blog Blog de Español Estimados padres de familia y amigos; Dear parents and friends, A partir del día jueves 22, ustedes podrán leer los cuentos que hicieron sus hijos para las clases de Español, en el blog de Español. Todos ellos han hecho un esfuerzo para escribir lo mejor, por esa razón no se ha realizado ninguna categorización. Starting this Thursday 22, you will be able to read the short stories your children have created for Spanish classes, in our Spanish blog. The students have made a big effort to write their best stories, which is why they haven’t been categorized. Piano Recital Recital de Piano The Condor Trust for Education (www.condortrust.org), in partnership with Keys of Change (www.keysofchange.org), is hosting a piano recital with music from Royal Academy trained pianist, Panos Karan. The concert will be on Thursday, 13 December 2012 from 7:30pm at Teatro Nacional Sucre. La fundación Cóndor Trust para la Educación (www.condortrust.org), junto con la organización Keys of Change (www.keysofchange.org), está organizando un recital de piano con la participación del reconocido músico de la Royal Academy Panos Karan. Este concierto se llevará a cabo el jueves 13 de diciembre de 2012 a las 7.30 pm, en el Teatro Nacional Sucre. Panos Karan has performed in prestigious venues around the world including three recent solo recitals at New York’s Carnegie Hall. The evening’s programme will include Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Liszt and all funds raised will go to support children’s education in Quito, Coca and Puyo. Primary Student Council Consejo Estudiantil de Primaria El día miércoles 14 de noviembre, elegimos al presidente y vicepresidente del Consejo Estudiantil de Primaria. Los candidatos fueron: Alex Ruf, Sam Robles, Charlotte Pascoe, Luis Andrés Acosta, Agatha Muñoz, Emilio Valdivieso y yo, por Año 6; y Alan Ingersoll, Pablo Ganchala y Ari Loquvam, por Año 5. Tuvimos una excelente y activa campaña con posters, adhesivos y volantes en los que se anunciaban días sin uniforme, ventas de pasteles y muchos eventos para mejorar el Colegio. On Wednesday, November 14, Primary had Student Council president and vice president elections. The candidates were Alex Ruf, Sam Robles, Charlotte Pascoe, Luis Andrés Acosta, Agatha Muñoz, Emilio Valdivieso and myself, from Y6; Alan Ingersoll, Pablo Ganchala and Ari Loquvam from Year 5. We lived a wonderful campaign with posters, stickers and brochures announcing jean days and bake sales and lots of promises to make our school better and fun. It seemed like Primary had turned into a small country! ¡Primaria parecía haberse convertido en un pequeño país! About 140 students voted in Mr Tober's classroom. Alrededor de 140 estudiantes ejercieron su derecho al voto en el aula de Mr. Tober. The most exciting moment was on Friday when the winners were announced. In the polling station I felt nervous. Finally on the assembly everybody got the news that Agatha Muñoz is vice president and Alex Ruf is president. El momento más emocionante fue el anuncio de los ganadores, el día viernes. Yo me sentía muy nervioso cuando se hizo el recuento de los votos. Finalmente, durante la asamblea se supo que Agatha Muñoz fue elegida vicepresidenta y Alex Ruf es la nueva presidenta. Bake Sale for Hurricane Sandy Venta de Pasteles por el Huracán Sandy th
El jueves 29 de noviembre, los Eco‐Dudes harán una venta de pasteles para ayudar a los animales afectados por el Huracán Sandy. Este huracán azotó la costa oeste de los Estados Unidos el 27 de octubre y causó serios daños, especialmente en la ciudad de Nueva York. Staten Island fue muy afectada. On Thursday 29 of November the Eco Dudes will be having a bake sale to help the displaced animals affected by Hurricane Sandy. Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast of the United States the 27th of October and caused severe damage, especially in New York City. Staten Island suffered huge losses. The students in Eco Dudes would like to donate the money earned from the bake sale to the Staten Island Feral Initiative which is pulling animals off of the street and trying to reunite them with their families. COPAIN Opening Inauguración de COPAIN Estos son los estudiantes de The British School que lograron medalla de Oro en Atletismo enfrentando al Colegio Johannes Kepler. En total fueron siete pruebas de Resistencia y Velocidad que se llevaron a cabo el día jueves 15 de noviembre con motivo de la 8va Jornada Inaugural de COPAIN. Nuestro Colegio logró de forma contundente el primer éxito deportivo en este año, finalizando primero en todas las carreras. Here is a list of our BSQ students, who won Gold medals during the athletics competitions against Johannes Kepler School. There were seven endurance and speed races that took place on Thursday, November 15, as part of the opening ceremony of COPAIN. BSQ was, without any doubt, the big winner for this first event, finishing as the winner of every race. 5

From the Desk of the Director Desde el Escritorio de la Directora Bonfire Night / Noche de Fogata Quiero agradecer a todos quienes asistieron a nuestra espectacular Noche de Fogata, el 16 de noviembre. Fue maravilloso ver a tantos miembros de nuestra comunidad. Espero que se hayan divertido tanto como yo lo hice. El objetivo de reunir a la comunidad BSQ, compartir y disfrutar juntos, fue definitivamente alcanzado. Mi agradecimiento en especial a la brigada de los bomberos y, por supuesto, a los miembros de nuestro genial PTA por su arduo trabajo. Felicitaciones a quienes participaron en las competencias, en realidad hicieron su mejor esfuerzo y fue un placer ser testigo de ello. Felicidades también a quienes ganaron premios. I would like to thank everyone who came to our amazing Bonfire Night last November 16. It was wonderful to see so many of our School community members having fun together. I hope you had as much fun as I did. Our objective of coming together, sharing our time, and having fun as a community, was certainly achieved. Special thanks go to the fire brigade and, of course, to the amazing PTA members for their tireless efforts.
