Dear Bilquist Parents and Families,
Welcome back to the 2015-16 school year and the
first edition of the monthly Bilquist Banner newsletter.
Make sure you take note of important messages,
information, and calendar events in each Banner
throughout the year, as well as our school’s web site.
We are off to a great start with over 440 students
enrolled this year, including 77 new “Full Day”
Kindergartners. Welcome to the new Kindergarten
parents and all new families to Bilquist.
State SBAC scores are back from last spring and
Bilquist out-performed the State and comparison
schools averages across the board.
PTA has already kicked off the year with the fabulous
jog-a-thon. Thanks to Mr. Lundgren and all the PTA
volunteers and parents who came out to support the
kids last week.
Parent teacher conferences are at the end of
October, so be on the lookout for sign up information
coming to your email soon.
There are a couple of traffic flow changes in the
parking lot. Please note the speed bumps and
enhanced exit lanes designed to improve safety for
students. There is a review of the drop off and pick up
morning routines included in this Banner.

Adjusting to the school day schedule can be
challenging for families at times. Please work to make
sure students arrive at Bilquist on time and ready to
start learning at 8:30 AM. It also may seem convenient
to pick up a bit early at times or to try to beat the rush
at 2:45 PM, but a student leaving class early misses
important information, closure to the lessons, last
minute homework, and announcements. Please try to
avoid your student leaving early if at all possible.
And finally, information sharing and conversations are
beginning regarding the future of North Clackamas
Schools and the needs of the communities we serve.
Look for information coming home regarding the
upcoming Bond Proposal and how it could benefit
Bilquist and all NC12 schools for many years to come.

PLEASE REMEMBER...
That ALL VISITORS must sign in and grab a badge when
coming in to the school during school hours, as well as visiting the
playground.
No matter how well we may know you and your family.
If you are in a hurry and just need to drop
something off for your student, you may
leave it in the office and we can get it to
them.
It is important that we know who is in the
building for the safety of our children as
well as the safety of our visitors should an
emergency occur.
Changing
After School Plans?
To help ensure the safety of all our
children, please always send a signed and
dated note detailing your child’s after school
change of plans. This includes walking home
with a friend, riding a different bus or having a
parent pick them up.
We know last minute changes are sometimes
necessary. Please make every effort to call the
school office prior to 2:15 PM if at all possible.
Thank you for understanding how important it is
for us to know where all our students are
going after school.

Notes from the Office…..
Dental Sealant forms were sent home in first day packets to all students. It has been brought to our
attention that it should have only gone home to 1st and 2nd grade students. We apologize for this mistake.
For those families of 1st and 2nd grade students, look for more information to come home in the future.
Did you know that Bilquist has a school song? We sing this song at many of our school wide assemblies. Here are
the words to our school song. It is sung to the same tune as the Notre Dame Fight Song.

sus planes para
después de la escuela?
que TODOS LOS VISITANTES deben de
registrarse y tener una tarjeta de identificación
cuando entran a la escuela durante el horario
escolar, al lo igual con el patio de niños.
No importa si los conocemos a usted y su
familia. si usted está con prisa y sólo tiene que
dejar algo para su hijo/a, por favor de dejarlo en la oficina se lo podemos dár a su hijo/a.
Es importante que sepamos
quién está en el edificio para la
seguridad de nuestros
estudiantes, así como la
seguridad de nuestros visitantes
en caso de una emergencia.

Para ayudar asegurar la seguridad de
todos los niños , por favor de enviar siempre
una nota firmada y con la fecha detallanda del
cambio de planes de su hijo/a. Esto incluye los

amigo, viajar en un autobús diferente o tener un
padre que lo recoja.
