FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK…
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis de Sales Parish,
In today’s Gospel, as Jesus was journeying to Jerusalem, a person
called out to him with these inspired words: “I will follow you wherever you
go.” (Luke 9:57b) The Church today more than ever needs dedicated
individuals willing to make the commitment to follow Christ in roles of
service and leadership. Thank God for the young people who are answering
the call to serve the Church as priests, deacons, religious and lay ministers!
This summer, we are again blessed to have the presence of our
seminarian intern, John Baumgardner, for the summer. John is a seminarian
of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee studying theology in Rome, and lives at
the North American College. He will be coming back to St. Francis de Sales
parish on Tuesday, June 28, to continue his internship. He will be with us
for eight weeks.
John will be helping us with a variety of ministries including assisting
at Mass, working with the youth (accompanying them on both the
Steubenville trip and the Kentucky mission trip) visiting the sick, leading
communion services, observing and assisting at baptisms, weddings,
funerals and quinceañeras, participating in jail ministry, attending meetings
and getting to know the parishioners.
Internship is an extremely important part of training for the priesthood
– it is a chance for seminarians to gain “hands-on” ministerial experience
before ordination. Welcome back, John!
Let us give thanks to the Lord for his many blessings!
God’s Blessings,
Fr. Jim Schuerman
Padre Jim Schuerman

For Complete Trust in God
Do not look forward to the changes and chances of
this life with fear, rather, look to them with full
confidence as they arise. God has guided you thus far in
life. If you hold fast to God’s hand, you will be led safely
through all trials. Whenever you cannot stand, God will
carry you lovingly in His arms.
Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow.
The same eternal father who takes care of you today will
take care of you tomorrow, and every day of your life.
Either God will shield you from suffering or will give you
unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace then, and put aside all useless thoughts,
all vain dreads and all anxious imaginations.
Amen.
