“Forgive us our sins, O Lord, lest the Gentiles should say: Where is

he story of the cleansing of the 10 lepers!
Why do you suppose there were 10? The
Text says, "they were traveling through
Samaria and Galilee," i.e., in the margins, between
the two--have you ever had to walk in between people who didn't get along? That's the context. What
do you think the "distance" is about? He's touched
lepers before--they've touched Him--what is the
significance of the distance? The 9 lepers that were
Jews could go to the Temple or to a Levite town
where priests were, but where did the Samaritan
have to go? Only to Jesus. What does that say to
you, today? The first reading, too, is about healing
from leprosy--that time it was a Syrian--another
foreigner. Is there a significance to that? Remember
when Jesus reminded the synagogue crowd in Nazareth of Naaman, and the good God had done for a
Syrian (read Arab) when there were plenty of Jews
who needed curing? They tried to kill Him! But,
one can't put "chains on the (liberating, healing)
Word of God," so the second reading says. The
people of Nazareth wanted to put chains on it, and
keep it for Jews. Jews and Samaritans each wanted
it for themselves. That's so natural. BUT, "the
Word of God is not chained!" What are the
"chains" we want to put on the liberating, healing
power of God, today? Can we? Lots of questions,
today. Let's spend some time in thought, this week.

La historia donde sanaron 10 leprosos! ¿Por qué
creen que habían 10? El Texto dice,” ellos estaban viajando por Samaria y Galilea,” es decir,
en las fronteras de las dos- ¿Han caminado entre dos
personas con las que no se llevaban? Ese es el contexto. ¿Qué es lo que piensan sobre la “distancia”?
Él había tocado a los leprosos antes- ellos lo tocaron
a Él- ¿qué es lo significante de la distancia? Los 9
leprosos que eran judíos van al Templo o a un pueblo levita donde estaban los sacerdotes, pero, ¿en
dónde tuvo que ir el samaritano? Sólo con Jesús.
¿Qué te dice esto a ti, el día de hoy? La primera lectura también se trata de la sanación de la lepra- ese
tiempo era en Siria- otro lugar extranjero. ¿Hay algo
significante en esto? ¿Recuerdan cuando Jesús les
recordó a la lentitud en Nazaret de Naamán, y lo que
el buen Dios tuvo que hacer por un sirio (árabe)
cuando habían bastantes judíos que necesitaban ser
curados? ¡Lo trataron de matar! Pero, nadie “le puede poner cadenas a la Palabra de Dios que es libertadora y sanadora,” así dice la segunda lectura.
El pueblo de Nazaret le quería poner cadenas y guardarla para los judíos. Ambos los judíos y los samaritanos la querían para sí mismos. Esto es muy natural.
Pero, “¡La palabra de Dios no está encadenada!”
¿Cuáles son las “cadenas” que necesitan del poder
libertador y sanador de Dios el día de hoy? ¿Lo podemos hacer? Tenemos muchas preguntas el día de
hoy. Tomemos un tiempo meditando esta semana.

In today’s readings we hear how the word of God
brings healing on many levels. It will not be
chained, but will achieve God’s purpose: our salvation. How do you respond to God’s word? Are
you a healing presence, helping God bring peace
and contentment to a troubled world?? Something
to ponder!!

palabra de Dios trae sanación en diferentes niveles.

Youth Mass: Every First Saturday

our Youth Mass every First Saturday of the Month. As of now,
the mass is in Spanish with the hopes of becoming bilingual.
Our next mass is November 2, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Since it is
All Souls Days, we invite all families to bring their names and

Thank you 1215 PM Ministerio de Hospitalidad (Hospitality
Ministry) for making time to prepare and serve a special sit down
homemade hot meal for our guests. Oscar and Alicia prayed over
and for our guests, they read scripture and gave the interpretation
of the word. Our guests were silent and seemed touched and in
awe as they appeared to hang on the word of God that was being presented to them. They were served while they sat at the
tables food for the body and uplifting nourishment and hope for
their spirits as their souls were being touched by the word of God.
The Ministerio de Hospitalidad reaches out to all those in need
through Evangelization in spreading God's word with their works
and actions in reaching out to those who are in need of the word
of God with gentle reminders that our God's love is unconditional and constant. We shout out praise to God for sending
these saints to minister to all who are in their path during
their "Journey for God." When you see the members of Ministerio de Hospitalidad thank them for their work in reaching out to
spread God's word and encouraging all to come to Jesus. Amen..

PM por hacer el tiempo de preparar y servir una comida caliente
donde nuestros invitados se pudieron sentar y disfrutar. Oscar y

silencio, se veían que en verdad fueron conmovidos y asombrados
por la palabra de Dios. Se les sirvió la comida mientras se sentaban , alimento para el cuerpo y una nutrición y esperanza para sus
espíritus mientras que sus almas fueron tocadas por la palabra de
Dios. El Ministerio de Hospitalidad se comunica con todos quienes están necesitados a través de la Evangelización, difundiendo la
palabra de Dios con sus trabajos y acciones al ayudar a quienes
están necesitados de la palabra de Dios con recordatorios amables
que el amor de Dios es incondicional y constante. Alabamos a
Dios por mandarnos a estos santos que dan su apostolado a
todos quienes cruzan sus caminos durante su “travesía por
Dios.” Cuando vean a los miembros del Ministerio de Hospitalidad, denles las gracias por su trabajo por difundir la palabra de
Dios y de animar a todos a que vengan a Jesús, amén.
Recen por paz y por cada uno de nosotros esta semana, para que Dios nos conceda la sanación de nuestros cuerpos y
para que haga todo bien para nuestras almas al caminar en esta
vida, dejando que Su luz brille a través y alrededor de nosotros, al

Although they come from the orthodox tradition, Icons
have something to say to all Christians. Icons are much
more than an art form; they are actually a theological
expression in an age-old language. Their primary purpose is to enable a face-to-face encounter with a holy person or a sacred event. Icons take us beyond themselves
into the mystery of the Incarnation and the salvation of
humankind. Painting an Icon is a journey. While we
work on Icons, they also work on us. As we work from
dark to light, from chaos to beauty, God can work in us
to make our darkness into light, the chaos in our lives
and world into the images of His Beauty. During this
week we will journey from a bare board to a completed
Icon, learning and praying as we paint.
