The TwentyTwenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
September 18, 2016
Amos cries out against those who exploit the poor for the sake of extortion
and greed. They seek to serve only themselves rather than the Lord.
By giving ourselves to God rather than money, we can truly pray with
blameless hands for all those in need, especially the poor whom the
Lord will raise up.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Feast –Volunteers Needed
We are looking for volunteers to be at the registration table at each Mass on the
weekends of October 1 & 2, 8 & 9, 15 & 16 and 22 & 23, to assist parishioners in
selecting the date for Our Lady of Guadalupe Rosary to be said in their homes
beginning October 26th — December 11th.
Please call the parish office at 855-2685 and leave a message for Juan Villa.
Our annual Quinceañera Bilingual Formation Program was held in August. This
annual event, focuses on the delicate discovery of teenage girls as they transition
into womanhood. The core principles of modesty, identity, ethics, culture, values
and responsibility are emphasized during the curriculum. At the completion of the
program, each girl exited with inner strength, and a greater awareness, that “image
matters”. Thank you to the coordinators, parents and attendees.

Happiness Study
Fridays at 9:30 am
beginning October 7th
Holy Family Parish Center
Join Deacon Gil Lopez as he journeys through the
7-part video series titled Happiness. In this study you
will learn the four levels of happiness. Happiness
features interviews with well-known psychiatrists,
celebrities, New Testament scholars, physicists and
priests that uncover the deeper answers to life's most
profound questions such as; What is happiness? Why is
there so much suffering? Why does God allow
suffering? Do we have a soul? Is there life after death?
Beginning with Father Spitzer's, “The Four Levels of
Happiness” in episode 1, we move through the
remaining 6 episodes dealing with unhappiness and
depression and then to evidence for our transcendent
and eternal life. We'll examine the resurrection of
Jesus Christ and finally, we'll learn how to properly deal
with and benefit from suffering.
Please call Silvia Hernandez at 855-2685 to register for
the class. The course is free. You will be able to print
materials needed for the course using FORMED.

Prayer for Vocations
Oración por las vocaciones
Lord of the Harvest, help us to create a true
culture of discernment and vocations in our
parish so that all of us in this parish family may
seek to faithfully offer our lives as a loving
response to your first gift of life and love.
Illumine our families to be a light,
working together to bring your kingdom of
justice and peace, not just here in this
community, but in the whole world.
By your Holy Spirit,
may our hearts burn more and more to know
Your Son, Jesus Christ, and to make Him
known forever. Amen.
podamos ofrecer fielmente nuestras vidas
Santo, puedan nuestros corazones conocer
más y más a tu hijo Jesucristo y darlo a
conocer por siempre. Amen.

NEW!
Youth Ministry, here at our Lady of the Lake, has undergone some transformations. High
School Youth Ministry is being called LIFE TEEN, and Jr. High Youth Ministry is being called
EDGE. This past week in LIFE TEEN, we explored why we were created and discussed how we
were created from love and for love in order to love. In EDGE, through games and activities,
we brought the youth to wonder and awe of God and the universe that He created, as well as
established a foundation for the proof of God’s existence.
Game Night
September 28th is Youth Ministry’s Game Night!
Come for fun, food and fellowship. Wear your athletic clothes
(remember to maintain Christian modesty).
As always, we begin with 5:30 PM mass.

Gather Us In
Marty Haugen
Here in this place new light is streaming, now is the
darkness vanished away, see in this space our fears and our
dreamings, brought here to you in the light of this day. Gather
us in the lost and forsaken, gather us in the blind and the lame;
call to us now, and we shall awaken, we shall arise at the
sound of our name.
We are the young our lives are a myst’ry, we are the old
who yearn for your face. We have been sung throughout all of
hist’ry, called to be light to the whole human race. Gather us in
the rich and the haughty, gather us in the proud and the strong;
give us a heart so meek and so lowly, give us the courage to
enter the song.
Here we will take the wine and the water; here we will take
the bread of new birth. Here you shall call your sons and your
daughters, call us anew to be salt for the earth. Give us to
drink the wine of compassion. Give us to eat the bread that is
you. Nourish us well, and teach us to fashion lives that are holy
and hearts that are true.
Psalm 113
Praise the Lord who lifts up the poor.
Offertory Song

Prayer of St. Francis
Sebastian Temple
Make me a channel of your peace. Where there is hatred,
let me bring your love. Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord,
and where there’s doubt, true faith in you.
Refrain: Oh, Master, grant that I may never seek so much
to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to
understand, to be loved, as to love, with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace. Where there’s despair in
life, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness only light, and
where there’s sadness ever joy.
Make me a channel of your peace. It is in pardoning that we
are pardoned, in giving of ourselves that we receive, and in
dying that we’re born to eternal life.
Prayer to Saint Michael, the Archangel
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our
defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O
Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust
into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl about
the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Communion Songs

Gift of Finest Wheat
Thomas J. Porter
You satisfy the hungry heart with gift of finest wheat;
come give to us, O saving Lord, the bread of life to eat.
As when the shepherd calls his sheep, they know and
heed his voice; so when you call your family, Lord, we follow
and rejoice.
With joyful lips we sing to you our praise and gratitude,
that you should count us worthy, Lord, to share this heavenly
food.
Is not the cup we bless and share the blood of Christ
outpoured? Do not one cup, one loaf, declare our oneness in
the Lord?
The mystery of your presence, Lord, no mortal tongue can
tell: whom all the world cannot contain comes in our hearts to
dwell.
You give yourself to us, O Lord; then selfless let us be, to
serve each other in your name in truth and charity.
Closing Song

We Will Serve the Lord
Rory Cooney
Wealth can be an idol built of gleaming gold, bringing
dreams of paradise, futures bought and sold. Some will
choose to gather it, all that they can hoard, but as for me and
my house, we will serve the Lord!
Refrain: As for me and my house, we will serve the
Lord, we will serve the Lord, we will serve the Lord!
Pleasure is a siren, promising the flesh brief relief from
emptiness, a hiding place from death. Some will choose to
chase it, until it leaves them bored, but as for me and my
house, we will serve the Lord!
Power is a hunger, burning in the breast, to walk among
the mighty and trample on the rest. Some will choose to gain
it by lie or guile, or sword, but as for me and my house, we
will serve the Lord.
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER
(For those who are not able to receive Communion at this time)
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy
Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to
receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into
my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be
separated from You. Amen.

Caminaré
Juan A. Espinoza
compasivo. El Señor guarda a los sencillos,
estando yo sin fuerzas me salvó.
Gloria a Nuestro Dios
Tradicional
espiritualmente a mi corazón.
Nos diste un mandamiento: el amarnos de verdad;
quieres que reflejemos, oh Señor, tu
bondad.
———————————–—
Danos Un Corazón
Juan A. Espinosa
Danos un corazón grande para amar. Danos un
corazón fuerte para luchar.
Hombres nuevos creadores de la historia,
constructores de nueva humanidad. Hombres nuevos
libertad.
Oración a San Miguel Arcángel
