The TwentyTwenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
September 4, 2016
Who can comprehend the Lord’s ways or conceive what the Lord intends? True
wisdom leads us to acknowledge our limitations (a matter of “calculation”) and our
idols of materialism as we seek to follow the Lord without reservation. True
discipleship calls us to forgive those who have wronged us. May we gain wisdom of
heart to discern more fully our call to take up the cross of Jesus.

Happiness Study
Tuesdays at 6:30 pm beginning September 13th in the Holy Family Parish Center
Join Deacon Patrick and Kalala Toilolo as they journey through the 7-part video series titled
Happiness. In this study you will learn the four levels of happiness. Happiness features interviews
with well-known psychiatrists, celebrities, New Testament scholars, physicists and priests that
uncover the deeper answers to life's most profound questions such as; What is happiness? Why is
there so much suffering? Why does God allow suffering? Do we have a soul? Is there life after
death?
Beginning with Father Spitzer's, “The Four Levels of Happiness” in episode 1, we move
through the remaining 6 episodes dealing with unhappiness and depression and then to
evidence for our transcendent and eternal life. We'll examine the resurrection of Jesus
Christ and finally, we'll learn how to properly deal with and benefit from suffering.
Please call Silvia Hernandez at 855-2685 to register for the class. The course is free. You
will be able to print materials needed for the course using FORMED.

THE CATHOLIC “NETFLIX”WEBSITE
Exciting news, our parish has purchased a subscription to a
Catholic website www.FORMED.org.
Our parishioners code is: ZDJ8PG
(Our Lady of the Lake and Our Lady of the Desert)
This site allows all of our parishioners access to great instructional videos
on our Catholic faith, spiritual programs, e-books and Catholic specific
movies for the family. Several parishes are using this program already
and are seeing great fruits from the program.
There will be a team of volunteers that will assist you after all Masses in the Narthex
this weekend and next . They will sign you up using your smart phones. If you need assistance
or if you have any questions, they will be able to help you.

Welcome!
You enter this Church not as a stranger, but as
a guest of God. As a baptized person, you
enter it as a son or daughter of the Father in
Christ. This House of God, therefore, is your
family home. Come in then with humility of
mind, joy of heart and thanks on your lips.
Come in and pause in prayer in the midst of
your busy life and its many worries.

Food For Thought
St. Vincent de Paul fed nearly
4,200 Families in 2015,
passed out nearly
1,500 Christmas gifts and
gave out 200 bags of
school supplies.
All this would not be possible without
you and your generous donations to help
those less fortunate.
From all of us at St. Vincent de Paul
THANK YOU for your continued support and
allowing us to continue in our
mission of charity.

Prayer for Vocations
Oración por las vocaciones
Lord of the Harvest, help us to create a true
culture of discernment and vocations in our
parish so that all of us in this parish family may
seek to faithfully offer our lives as a loving
response to your first gift of life and love.
Illumine our families to be a light,
working together to bring your kingdom of
justice and peace, not just here in this
community, but in the whole world.
By your Holy Spirit,
may our hearts burn more and more to know
Your Son, Jesus Christ, and to make Him
known forever. Amen.
podamos ofrecer fielmente nuestras vidas
Santo, puedan nuestros corazones conocer
más y más a tu hijo Jesucristo y darlo a
conocer por siempre. Amen.

Universal: Centrality of the Human Person
That each may contribute to the common good and to the building
of a society that places the human person at the center.
Evangelization: Mission to Evangelize
That by participating in the Sacraments and meditating on Scripture,
Christians may become more aware of their mission to evangelize.
Entrance Song

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Lord God Almighty
Reginald Heber
Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in
the morning our song shall rise to thee: Holy,
Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three
Persons, blessed Trinity.
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the
glassy sea; cherubim and seraphim falling down
before thee, God everlasting through eternity.
Psalm 90
In ev’ry age, O Lord,
you have been our refuge.

Gift of Finest Wheat
Thomas J. Porter
You satisfy the hungry heart with gift of
finest wheat; come give to us, O saving Lord,
the bread of life to eat.
As when the shepherd calls his sheep, they
know and heed his voice; so when you call your
family, Lord, we follow and rejoice.
With joyful lips we sing to you our praise and
gratitude, that you should count us worthy, Lord,
to share this heavenly food.
Is not the cup we bless and share the blood of
Christ outpoured? Do not one cup, one loaf,
declare our oneness in the Lord?
The mystery of your presence, Lord, no mortal
tongue can tell: whom all the world cannot contain
comes in our hearts to dwell.
You give yourself to us, O Lord; then selfless
let us be, to serve each other in your name in truth
and charity.
John L. Bell
Will you come and follow me if I but call your
name? Will you go where you don’t know and
never be the same? Will you let my love be
shown, will you let my name be known, will you let
my life be grown in you and you in me?
Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your
name? Will you care for cruel and kind and never
be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare should
your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer
pray’r in you and you in me?
Will you let the blinded see if I but call your
name? Will you set the pris’ners free and never be
the same? Will you kiss the leper clean, and do
such as this unseen, and admit to what I mean in
you and you in me?
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER
(For those who are not able to receive Communion at this time)
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the
Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all
things, and I desire to receive You into my
soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive
You sacramentally, come at least spiritually
into my heart. I embrace You as if You were
already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
Closing Song

I Am the Light of the World
Greg Hayakaws
Refrain: I am the light of the world, says the
Lord. They who follow me will have the light of
life.
Arise, says the Lord. Have no fear within you;
for in my presence there will be no darkness. I am
the light of the world.
Walk in the light; there is no cause to stumble; I
have come to light the path before you. I am the
light of the world.
Listen to my words; they are from the one who
sent me; for you, my friends, are called to share
God’s glory. You are the light of the world.
Prayer to Saint Michael, the Archangel
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and
snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we
humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the
heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust
into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who
prowl about the world seeking the ruin of
souls. Amen.

Gloria a Nuestro Dios
Tradicional
espiritualmente a mi corazón. Y como si te
hubiese recibido, me abrazo y me uno todo a Ti;
Amen.
Canto de Comunión
Comunión
—————————————
Ya No Eres Pan y Vino
D. A. R.
a ti (2X)
———————————–—
Caminando Juntos
P. Eduardo de Zayas
Caminando juntos vamos a salir Y nos
despedimos con un breve adiós.
Adiós quiere decir: ¡Vaya usted con Dios! Mi
corazón se alegra, contigo voy, Señor.
Vamos siempre a obscuras si nos falta el sol;
Vamos siempre solos si nos falta Dios.
Oración a San Miguel Arcángel
