ASCENSION OF THE LORD SUNDAY,
May 8, 2016
Jesus commissions his disciples to baptize in his name, reminding them that
he is always present through his Spirit. Jesus ascended to his Father amid
cries of gladness, entering into the heavenly sanctuary. We are to be his
witnesses, mindful of the great hope to which we are called.
Happy Mother’s Day

Extraordinary Jubilee Holy Year of Mercy
December 8, 2015 – November 20, 2016
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Laughlin, Nevada has been designated an official
pilgrimage site during the Year of Mercy and is the closest site to Lake Havasu City. Passing
through the doors of St. John the Baptist is one of the steps in obtaining the Plenary Indulgence
connected with the celebration of the Holy Year.
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
3055 El Mirage Way
Laughlin, NV 89029
702-298-0440
The church/office is open:
Monday – Friday
8:00 am to 3:00 pm
Masses at the church:
8:00 am – Monday, Tuesday, Friday & First Saturday
6:00 pm – Every Saturday
8:00 am – Every Sunday
What is an Indulgence?
"An indulgence is the remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt
has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain
prescribed conditions through the action of the Church which, as the minister of redemption,
dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints.
An indulgence is partial or plenary according as it removes either part or all of the temporal
punishment due to sin. Indulgences may be applied to the living or the dead.” (Catechism of the
Catholic Church #1471)
The person seeking the indulgence must:
Have the intention of gaining the indulgence.
Be in the state of grace at least at the time of the Indulgenced Act is completed.
Have the interior disposition of complete detachment from sin, even venial sin.
Have sacramentally confessed his/her sins within several (20) days before or after
performing the Indulgenced Act.
Receive Holy Communion, preferably on the day of performing the Indulgenced Act.
Pray for the intentions of the Pope, preferably on the day of performing the Indulgenced Act.
Perform the Indulgenced Act-Pass through a designated Holy Door, a Door of Mercy.
Plenary indulgences can be applied to oneself or to the souls of the deceased, but they cannot
be applied to other persons still living on the earth. You may only obtain one plenary indulgence
each day. If any of the conditions for a plenary indulgence are lacking, the indulgence will
be a partial indulgence.
“Jesus keeps knocking on our doors, the doors of our lives. He doesn’t
do this by magic, with special effects, with flashing lights and
fireworks. Jesus keeps knocking on our door in the faces of our brothers
and sisters, in the faces of our neighbors, in the faces of those at
our side.” Pope Francis

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER
—————————————–—————
Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
(For those who are not able to receive Communion at this time)
William C. Dix
Alleluia! Sing to Jesus! His the scepter, his the
throne; Alleluia! His the triumph, his the victory
alone; Hark! the songs of peaceful Zion thunder like
a mighty flood; Jesus out of ev’ry nation has
redeemed us by his blood.
Alleluia! Not as orphans are we left in sorrow
now; Alleluia! He is near us, faith believes, nor
questions how; Though the cloud from sight
received him, when the forty days were o’er, shall
our hearts forget his promise, “I am with you
evermore”?
Table of Plenty
Dan Schutte
Refrain: Come to the feast of heaven and
earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will
provide for all that we need, here at the table of
plenty.
O come and sit at my table where saints and
sinners are friends. I wait to welcome the lost and
lonely to share the cup of my love.
O come and eat without money; come to drink
without price. My feast of gladness will feed your
spirit with faith and fullness of life.
Psalm 47
God mounts his throne to shouts of joy:
A blare of trumpets for the Lord.
Offertory Song

Table of Plenty
Dan Schutte
Refrain: Come to the feast of heaven and
earth! Come to the table of plenty! God will
provide for all that we need, here at the table of
plenty.
O come and sit at my table where saints and
sinners are friends. I wait to welcome the lost and
lonely to share the cup of my love.
O come and eat without money; come to drink
without price. My feast of gladness will feed your
spirit with faith and fullness of life.
My bread will ever sustain you through days of
sorrow and woe. My wine will flow like a sea of
gladness to flood the depths of your soul.
Your fields will flower in fullness; your homes will
flourish in peace. For I, the giver of home and
harvest, will send my rain on the soil.
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy
Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive
You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I
embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself
wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

The Supper of the Lord
Laurence Rosania
Refrain: Precious body, precious blood, here
in bread and wine; here the Lord prepares the
feast divine. Bread of love is broken now, cup of
life is poured; come, share the supper of the
Lord.
This is the bread of God coming down from
heav’n, giving life to us, to all the world.
“I am the living spring of eternal life; you that
drink from me shall not thirst again.”
“I am the bread of heav’n giving life to you; you
that eat this bread shall never die.”
“All those who feed on me have their life in me,
as I have my life in the living God.”
Closing Song

To Jesus Christ,
Our Sovereign King
Martin Hellrigel
To Jesus Christ, our sovereign King, Who is the
world’s salvation, All praise and homage do we
bring and thanks and adoration.
Refrain: Christ Jesus, Victor! Christ Jesus,
Ruler! Christ Jesus, Lord and Redeemer!
Your reign extend, O King benign, To ev’ry land
and nation; For in your Kingdom, Lord divine, Alone
we find salvation.
Prayer to Saint Michael, the Archangel
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and
snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we
humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the
heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust
into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of
souls. Amen.

Vienen Con Alegría
Ven, Ven Al Banquete
Cesáreo Gabaráin
Bob Hurd
buen Pastor.
Gloria a Nuestro Dios
Tradicional

Aleluya.
Canto de Ofertorio
——————————————
Entre Tus Manos
Ray Repp
cosas y deseo ardientemente recibirte dentro de mi alma;
Amen.
Canto de Salida
———————————–—
Santa María Del Camino
Juan A. Espinosa
Mientras recorres la vida, Tú nunca solo estás,
Contigo por el camino, Santa María va.
Ven con nosotros a caminar, Santa María
ven. Ven con nosotros a caminar, Santa María
ven.
verdad.
Oración a San Miguel Arcángel
Amen.
