2nd Sunday of Advent
Segundo domingo de Adviento
One of my favorite Catholic days is December 6. We had a tradition in our house
growing up that if you put out your shoes on
the evening before the sixth St. Nicholas
would come and put something in your shoes.
If you are good you got a present or candy of
something fun. If you were bad you got a
piece of coal. I’m pleased to say I never got a
piece of coal.
So why would St. Nicholas be so kind.
Well it is because he has always been kind and
generous. Many legends are told about his
generosity. On one occasion he threw purses
filled with gold through the window of a home
belonging to three young maidens in need of a
dowry for their wedding. In another he threw
purses filled with gold down the chimney of
homes belonging to the poor. In every legend
he always helps the poor in need.
I encourage you to have this little tradition in your homes. This will help you remember the gift of generosity so that hopefully
you will show that the spirit of giving in the
name of St. Nicholas lives in you through a
generous donation to someone in need.
Uno de mis días favoritos católicos es
el 6 de diciembre. Teníamos una tradición en
nuestra casa que si ponías tus zapatos la noche
antes del seis, San Nicolás vendría a poner algo en tus zapatos. Si avías sido bueno tenias
un regalo o un dulce de algo divertido. Si
avías sido malo tenias un trozo de carbón. Me
complace decir que nunca conseguí un trozo
de carbón.
Así que ¿por qué San Nicolás era tan
amable?. Bueno, es porque siempre ha sido
amable y generoso. Muchas leyendas se les
dice acerca de su generosidad. En una ocasión
arrojó carteras llenas de oro a través de la ventana de una casa que pertenece a tres doncellas
jóvenes que necesitaban unos bienes para su
boda. En otra tiró bolsas llenas de oro por la
chimenea de los hogares pertenecientes a los
pobres. En cada leyenda que siempre ayuda a
los pobres que lo necesitan.
Yo animo a tener esta pequeña tradición
en sus hogares. Esto le ayudará a recordar el
don de la generosidad de manera que esperamos que pueda demostrar que el espíritu de
dar en el nombre de San Nicolás vive en ti a
través de una generosa donación a alguien en
necesidad.

Backpack Program
We need monetary help for the
backpack program. We fill 100 backpacks a week! It costs $5.00 to $6.00 to
fill each backpack. The money donations are for the small size items that we
buy in bulk at super low prices so that your money
goes farther. Please adopt a backpack or two each
month to feed a hungry child. We have attached an envelope for your convenience.
Please let us know when a person’s circumstance has changed and they need to be
removed from the prayer list.

Hello fellow parishioners and guests,
Hola compañeros feligreses e invitados,
After several interviews with different
Capital Campaign consulting firms the Capital Campaign committee has chosen the Steier
Group to perform a feasibility study to find
out what we as a parish can afford so we can
determine how to phase the Property
Improvements. The Steier Group will be here
during the month of December setting things
up and properly preparing us to conduct a
successful feasibility study which will begin
in January In tandem with this feasibility
study we will be updating the Master Plan
with the architect to add a Fellowship hall for
large gatherings. This is the biggest suggestion that Fr. Jeff received as he visited many
families when he first arrived at our parish.
I do ask that this month you pray for our community so we may run a successful study to
enhance our service to the church. All things
are possible with God.
Después de varias entrevistas con
diferentes empresas y de consultar con el
comité de Campaña Capital hemos elegido el
Grupo Steier para llevar a cabo un estudio de
Factibilidad para averiguar lo que nosotros
como parroquia podemos llevar a cavo y que podamos determinar la forma de eliminar gradualmente la mejoras de la propiedad. El Grupo
Steier estará aquí durante el mes de diciembre
par a ajustar cosas y adecuadamente preparárnos para llevar a cabo un estudio de factibilidad
en éxito que se iniciará en enero paralelamente a
este estudio de factibilidad estaremos actualizando el Plan Maestro con el arquitecto para agregar un salon comunitario para grandes reuniones. Esta es la mayor sugerencia que el P. Jeff
recibió cuando visitó muchas familias cuando llegó por primera vez a nuestra parroquia. Yo pido
que este mes rezen por nuestra comunidad para
que podamos ejecutar un estudio exitoso para
mejorar nuestro servicio a la iglesia. Todas las

Adapted Liturgy
English Classes
You are invited on December 27 to the St. Pius
X Christmas Adapted Liturgy, a shorter Mass
that celebrates the lives and gifts of all people,
including those with physical and developmental
disabilities and illnesses. Every effort is made to
accommodate the inclusion and participation
of each person. The church is accessible for
wheelchairs, and listening devices are available. The Adapted Liturgy is offered the 4th
Sunday of every month at 2:45 pm at St. Pius X,
