Wow! Our first month flew by! We are thrilled with the beginning of the year. As we move into month 2, we encourage
parents to help us promote independence for some of our little ones in kindergarten and first grade by allowing them to
make it to class on their own in the mornings. It’s one small step for a child but an even bigger step sometimes for us as parents.  See you at Curriculum Night on the 13th!

On Your Mark– Get Set: Morning Mile Starts next Wednesday Sept. 7th! MONDAYS and WEDNESDAYS from 7:307:50 AM, students in Grades 1-5 can get 20 minutes of energizing exercise before school begins (Kindergartners may participate with a parent
present)! Students' laps are tracked and prizes are given out at certain mileage levels. All eligible students are encouraged to participate!

Can Your Family Solve GHES’ Math Problem of the Month? September’s Problem of the Month (POM) is "Friends You
Can Count On.” Students will use the concepts of probability and expected value to engage in problem solving activities across various levels of difficulty. Students will be able to show their knowledge of sample spaces, fairness, and counting principles. POM is available monthly for families to
work on together to promote reasoning skills, justification of answers and problem solving. A discussion will take place at the end of the month during lunch periods for all students to share what they've learned and to answer any questions they may still have. Special Brown Bag Lunch for Parents: Wednesday, September 13th at noon Our September Brown Bag Lunch will
be held in the Auditorium with our special guest, Mrs. Abbott! Bring your lunch, dessert and drinks will be provided. This is a great way to meet

Garden Committee Now Forming: First Meeting is Thursday, Sept. 22nd at 3 pm We are very
excited about the new garden boxes we’ve received thanks to GCAPP! At the meeting we will plan our October 2nd Garden Clean Up
to install the new boxes and prepare the beds. If you are interested in the planning and execution of this project, contact Katie Carlson at [email protected]. The meeting will be held in Ms. Carlson’s room on the 3rd Grade hall, past the Media Center.
